  1. Hello,

My USC wife was born in Poland and has been a naturalised U.S. Citizen for the past 18 years, on the interview documents checklist- it asks for her birth certificate. Is this mandatory or is it more of a suggestion since she can easily provide dozens of other forms of proof of U.S Citizenship? The checklist I was sent seems extremely generalised- I just want to make sure I am justified in freaking out as I have no idea how she can get a birth certificate in a month from a foreign country!

    Thank you for your help.

  2. Hello, sorry to bump an old thread but I have a different and even weirder problem.

My I-94 is not showing up at all. This morning, I called the POE (Edmonton) to make sure everything was entered correctly, and they confirmed it was the case. Their only suggestion was to continue waiting a few days as it was a "new system". Should I just go to a deferred inspection site, or if not- how long should I wait before I do?

  3. It's very frustrating to see people from the end of September being approved well before me, worse are people from the same dates. The only thing I can imagine is that we got put on a desk more focused on gaming the numbers with October-December filers and they'll get to us when they feel like it. They really ought to go from the start of a month to the end of a month in order.

For the record about half of September 14 (my NOA1 date) have been approved, I just wonder why there is such a disparity. WIth my luck, I expect my petition to be the last September filer approved.

  4. Thank you so much :)

I have a similar question for my fellow Canadians. My interview is also going to be at YVR. However, my fiancee started working this year after graduating college at a company that pays well above the poverty guideline. Do I have to only rely on her tax returns (she just started this year and my interview will probably be before April 15)? Or do offer letters stating salaries and paystubs count for YVR? Would it be better to get a cosponsor? That'd be annoying, but I ask the experts.

  5. Hello,

My American fiancee graduated from university last year and started working at a tech company this March. While she was a student, she still worked- but I am not sure if she was above 125% of the poverty guidelines. To further confound things, I expect my interview will be before April 15... Should my fiancee file her taxes early if so?

Regardless, after reading this forum and seeing how an I-134's evidence often makes use of n years of tax returns on top of pay stubs, offer letter stating salary, etc- I am not sure what to do. It seems kind of silly to have to get a cosponsor for someone employed, but I leave the verdict up to more experienced VJ-ers

Also, as a Canadian I have no idea what Americans do with their tax returns- so I'd love some insight on how one collects them if there is some arcane process for when she invariably asks me "James, how do I get them!" This is assuming that she doesn't have them all in a shoebox at home. Once again, I really have no idea and for that I am sorry.

    Thanks in advance,

    J

  6. Perfect! That is exactly what we needed to hear!

The website says that they will also accept livescan taken prints, but best to call them. We've had to deal with them before as on the last police certificate they sent, they kept issuing it to the wrong birthdate. Hopefully they are better about it this time.

Thank you for the quick reply!

  7. Hello,

While my fiancee and I wait for NOA2, which may one day come unless it collapses into a black hole from the weight of the dust it accumulates,we were wondering about what would be needed from his end. He is a Canadian citizen but lived in Australia for three years and has obtained a good conduct certificate. The question is, does it have to be with prints or without. I know for the Canadian police check prints are only taken if the computers get a "hit" on the name- but the aussie website is unclear and the Visa websites are vague.

We appreciate any advice you can offer on this.

    Cheers y'all!
