  1. Hello Everyone,

I am seeking some help/advice on filing for the B-2 Tourist visa for my in-law’s. I have spoken to 10 different people and getting 10 different advices. I am Sort of confused without the right directions.

I have sent my in-laws to a travel agent. The travel agent advised to them that, I have to provide an invitation letter, bank statement showing 10K, Job Letter. In addition, the in-law’s have to have 3 Lakh Indian Rupees in their account, and to have a list of all the properties they own.

They will be appearing for the interview at Chennai, India.

A good friend of mine who has parents came over recently said, they only had to show the 10K, I-134, Invitation Letter, Job Letter and the parents only had to show the properties in India. The parents didn’t have to show any liquid cash.

Another friend said the opposite, they didn’t show any money in the U.S account, didn’t send no I-134, Job Letter. His Parents has 5 Lakh liquid cash in their account and they had own properties.

So my question is, Does the money need to be shown in the U.S or does it need to be show in India to state that they have sufficient money to support their travel.

What are the list of things they need to bring to the interview?

    Is I-134, Job Letter Needed?

    Thanks

  2. Hello Everyone,

I got a question about filing for my parents and my sister. I am a U.S citizen and planning to file for my parents under the IR-1 category. My Sister is only 19. Can I place her on the same application as my parents? If I file for my sister individually, I think it can take such a long time before the visa becomes available since she would not fall under the immediate relative category. Since my sister is only 19 and dependent of my parents, can she get the benefit of being in the same application so that it gets processed faster under the immediate relative category?

  3. Hello Everyone,

I am in a dilemma here. My wife recently migrated to the U.S about 4 months ago through the CR-1 Visa. We just found out that she is 1-month pregnant. Unfortunately, I cant add her to my insurance since the next open enrollment is January 2014. I was told by the HR from my work that I should had added my wife within the first 30 days of marriage. My argument was that she was overseas all these time but the HR wont buy it. They said I should had added my wife to the policy even without the Social Security Number. So I have decided to purchase the Private Health Insurace, Prices are high. But they denied us too stating that you have to be a resident of the U.S for atleast 6 months. We spoke with the Medicaid, they cant help us out either since we are above poverty income level. I dont know what to do, any help or suggestions is appreciated.

  4. Current Individual Annual Income is reflected from the current year, for example the year of 2013. You would have to put down how much you are making, and what that would be in this given year. For example, if you are making $20 an hour. Just multiply that by 40 work hours in a given week and multiply that 52 weeks (A year has 52 weeks).

    20*40=800*52= $41600

Your adjusted gross income is the number you could find it on your previous tax returns. Just look through your tax returns of the previous years.

Kindly, let me know if this does not make sense.

    Thanks,

  5. Looks like you have all the basics covered. I would include the 2012 Tax returns as well since we passed the Tax filing deadline date. Since you do not have an ITIN number for your spose, I would file it this way. Married filing separate, and in place of where they ask you for Spouse SSN#, place NRA (Non-Resident Alien). You wont be able to do this E-filing, it must be mailed in. Finally, if you still wanted to file as married filing joint, file an adjustment of tax returns once your spouse migrates to the U.S. I hope it makes sense..

    Also, UPDATE YOUR TIMELINE

    Hi Guys,

I am preparing I-864 Packet for my spouse. There are some questios arising as I am going further.

I applied for my spouse ITIN number 3 days ago. Is it okay to send i-864 form without ITIN number. also what proof should I provide for 2012 Tax return ...We filled 1040EZ along with ITIN application.

Do we need to include original Tax Transcripts received form IRS or Photocopy is fine.

Basically I have below documents for my I-864 Packet: Please let me know if anything is missing:

    Cover Letter

Barcoded Cover Sheet(Will print it after my AOS bill shows paid)

    I-864 Filled and Signed

Filled W7 form for Itin and 1040EZ, and w2's (since i have not received ITIN number)

Tax Trancripts for 2011 and 2010

    Last 6 Months Paystubs

    Employment Letter.

I am not including Bank Letter as I have enough Income to support my Petition.

Thanks for your Continous Support and Guidance..

  6. Guys, I am starting this thread behalf of my cousin who I had filed the I-130 Petition along with mine. My wife's visa got approved couple of days ago. This is what is happening with my cousin's case. We both filed on the same day in May 2012. My cousin got his noa2 on beginning of November, and the case went to the NVC. My cousin submitted all the required documents such as DS-230 and I-864, made both of the payments. We called into check the Interview schedule early this month, we have been told from NVC that the USCIS has requested the case to be send back for further verification. They did not tell us anything further, and the USCIS is not saying much either. There is no red-flags. This is pretty straight forward case. Anybody here gone through same situations or suggestions as to what can he do?

  7. Anyone here experience the same thing? I have my interview scheduled for April 15,2013. However, the list published by U.S Consulate Mumbai does not have my case and it is not up to date. I know of couple of others who are in the same boat as I am. Any others here? I emailed them, but no response whatsoever.

  8. I am confused with your answer. Do I ever bring up the Church Ceremony at the Interview at all? All the pictures I have is from the Church Ceremony. Please elaborate your answer

The civil service was your legal marriage ceremony. Any other service does not really matter in the eyes of the law. You had a church service or celebration as you were already married so you could not have been "married in the church or had a church wedding".

  9. Guys,

I am looking for a piece of advice from you guys. This is the Situation.

We did our Civil Marriage in April 2012, and Church wedding in November 2012. We filed all our paperwork based on the Civil marriage since that is what's most important. The question I have is that, do we have to let the Embassy know that church wedding was in November since that information is irrelevant to the immigration proceedings. If CO asks, how many people attended your wedding? How should the answer be?

In the Civil Marriage, it was only close relatives ( about 15 people), and religious Ceremony we have about 200+ people. Any advice would be helpful, and especially from those folks who have been through it. We sure want to be honest, and not sure whats the best way to go about it.

  10. There is a hotel within the proximity about a kilometer or so. It called Hotel Arma, and you are looking at about $25 a night. Not a great hotel though, if you are looking for something cheap, here it is. I would say be careful staying at a low end hotel especially, Mumbai is not such a great place. It is so unsafe and crime filled City, so it is always better to stay at a decent place.

  11. I noticed that the Interview dates are not assigned based on the date the NVC complete the case per the Country. So I am curious, are they assigning the interview date based on the Priority date, perhaps? For example, see the two interviews placed in the above thread for Canada (Emily got the case complete on 2/19 and got an earlier interview date than Carry). So is it based on priority date?

  12. Hey Sangita,

When was your case completed at NVC, your timeline isnt updated. If your case was completed in January then you would have a high chance of getting an interview in April. anyway, I am praying to God that mine goes through and get a April interview as well. However, the statistics states that I wont get an April Interview. Oh well, one can wish!!!

Also, The Chennai does not process anymore immigration visa. This was such a Blow, I wish if they would revise their decision so that there would be more leverage on getting an interview earlier.

  13. Hey RR136, If you carefully observe the Interview Category from the Mumbai Consulate for the past few months you can come to a decent conclusion. If you are under CR-1 Category, they are only taking in about 25% visa interview for these kinds in a given month. Huge portion of the pie goes to the IR-5 (Parents) visa Category. Unfortunately, those people who have migrated before us is taking pretty much sponsoring all their parents. As a result, the CR-1 visa (Spouse) category is being crushed. Go look up the stats yourself and you can see what I am talking about.

In addition, you could project your interview month. As of March, they are only up to 509 for the IR-1,CR-1 Category. Today we are at BMB558, and do the month. If they only takes in approximately 25-30% in a given month. Where would you be based on your number?

Yes,you are right. Converted those julian dates to calendar and the latest IR1 found on March interview slot was NVC case received on Jan 9. Any idea why the big holdup?

  14. Guys, those who might be interested in this topic. I am enclosing some of statistics that I had derived from observing the past few month interview volume conducted at the Mumbai Consulate. This is just an average, and it may not be perfect. Take a look at it.

    In a given month,

CR-1 Category interviewed is at 25%

    F-4 at 14%

    F-3 at 4%

    IR-1 at 4%

    IR-2 at 2%

    IR-5 at 42%

and remaining ones are K-1, F-1-F2A,SB,SD,etc...
