With our experience all we can say is have a lot of patience and be on top of your paperwrok and always remember your hard work will pay off.

    Cheers

  2. Hi All,

And please please if anyone has any suggestions on what I should prepare myself for, what I should not do & what I should do. I am very nervous, don't want this process to get delayed any longer.:crying:

    Have a great day.

    Cheers

Make sure the immigrant spouse does not look at the petitioner alot when answering questions. That seems to raise the interviewers suspicions. See my post #831 (I think) in April filers Thread for more info. My husband was looking at me to confirm his english was correct, but the interviewer didn't see it that way.

Thanks a ton, also could you please telle me what questions I should be expecting from the immigration officer?

    Cheers

if the medical exam is over 1 year old I would reccoment that you get a new one. While you are at it if you dont have a copy of the suppliment for vaccines get it done also. Better safe than sorry.

Right, I know I contacted a civil surgeon near my place & will get it done ASAP. Thanks a lot.

  3. Hi All,

Finally after a long wait of 1.3 years I got the letter for my interview, which is in the first week of August. After so many set backs, I finally was able to get through to the USCIS customer service after lots of escalations. Long story short I am finally very close to the "The Day". I have been reading about people's experiences in the posts here, mostly I came across pleasent experiences. So I am praying and hoping to god mine goes smooth too, I have the same enxiety that I had when I got my interview date for the VISA in India. Guys I feel very confortable sharing with you all as I know we all share the same feelings and we are all on one boat & I thank the VJ website and you all for all the continous support.

Since I got the letter and the list of documents that I need to bring for the interview I have been working on gathering all required paper work & documents. In the list they have asked me bring a completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted). . Since I filed for the I-485 I was never asked for a medical report, the medical check I had was during the Visa Interview process in India and all those documents were in a sealed envelope that I submitted to the immigration officer at the port of entry. My question here is, if anyone was asked for the same for their AOS interview and what was their experience and any suggestions for me? :innocent::help::unsure:

And please please if anyone has any suggestions on what I should prepare myself for, what I should not do & what I should do. I am very nervous, don't want this process to get delayed any longer.:crying:

    Have a great day.

  4. Hi All,

I am in a peculiar situation I had my K1 visa approved in April'06 came to the US in May'06 and got married the same month. We applied for my AOS and EAD in the first week of June'06 at the Chicago lockbox, USCIS received it on the 11th of June'06. I got a notice for my biometrics with 45 days; everything looked good until we moved to a new address. I followed the guidelines and called the customer service to notify the change of address and also submitted the AR-11 form as told. We were in our new apartment for couple of months and my husband got a new job in Florida so we had to move again from Texas to Florida. After moving I called USCIS and notified them about the address change again, throughout this entire process I believed that my file was getting updated to my dismay my file never got updated with the changes which I discovered after talking to an immigration officer when I escalated the matter in March of 07.

Never the less after probably 120 days I visited the immigration office in Florida to ask what I needed to do fly out of the US as I had the AOS & EAD pending, the officers there were very helpful and approved my EAD application and issued me a card there and then. So my thoughts to you all if you have crossed 90 days please visit the local immigration office you never know you might get lucky. But they did tell me that AOS takes time and I do need to wait, that was the only explanation I got.

After probably a year my file has got updated with the change of address and I have submitted all the documents that they requested as proof of evidence on May 3rd'07 and as per the letter I got they would inform me 90 days from the date they received my application. In the meanwhile my Employment Authorization would expire on 09/19/07 and as per the procedure I have to apply for the renewal of the EAD at least 90 days prior to the expiration. The process and fees is the same for the renewal and my dilemma is I apply for the EAD now and in 60 days probably I would get a reply for the AOS and if I do get my PR/Green Card then I would not need the employment authorization card.

Could you please advice what should I do?

    Thanks

    Hi All,

All has gone well for us, we got married and filed for our AOS & EAD, my journey was a bit rough but thanks to all of you I was able to gauge things step by step.

I have my Biometrics appoitment scheduled this thursday, wanted to know how long does this process take & what all would they ask me do. I would be appearing for the appoitment in Houston.

If possible could anybody help me with the time of EAD how much longer do I have to wait, I filed for my EAD & AOS in the first week of June'06.

    Thanks guys! (F)(F)(F)

Biometrics appointment...take your picture and fingerprints. No big deal, and it doesn't take long once you get out of the waiting room.

EAD should come a couple of weeks after the biometrics appointment. AOS interview in about three months. (That was my experience anyway.)

BTW...if you sent in your application in early June and have your appointment already, you're doing very well. Hope your luck continues.

  8. Hi Tomica,

I was reading your post thanks for the information. I was curious to know what is AP as I too filed for the AOS & EAD on the 7th of June'06 from Houston & sent it to Chicago, I am on K1 VISA.

    Can you help me, thanks!

    Udiken

    Milkman,

There's no direct correlation betwee the two, other than that the biometrics will usually (always?) come before the interview.

    Yodrak

Juts like Yodrak said, biometrics will usually come before the interview. Currently processing times are a lot faster than reported, so hopefully you will get your interview letter soon.

    A

The Appoitment letter states all you need is the appoitment letter & a photo identification.

All the best, I have my apoitment on Thursday

  11.:dance: Yepee.....this is one of the happiest moments in my life...I got my VISA yesterday from cosulate...when the courier guy came to deliver my passport I was so happy...I would love to share my experience with all of you.You all have been of great help, when I was lost & got support from all of you....THANKS (F)

My fiance filed the petition from Texas in September of 2005, we got aproved by NVC in Dec'05 before X'Mas. The petition was sent to India & the New Delhi Consulate received the petition & issued the intervew date for 13th Feb'06. All was going very smooth besides the long wait for the NVC to approve the petition, untill my case was received by the New Delhi Consulate. When I spoke to them to get the status they gave me the interview date. Here I was a bit confused as I stay in Hyderabad (South Zone in India), so ideally my case was supposed to be handled by Chennai Consulate. The reason why the confusion happened was because I have been born & brought up in New Delhi & moved to Hyderabad for past 11 months for work, geographically I had to appear for my interview in Chennai. Knowing that the New Delhi Consulate canceled my interview date & informed me that they would forward the case to Chennai, this excercise would take them atleast 2 weeks. I was so disheartened after so many days wait atlast we got the interview date, that too I lost it. Well waited for 2 weeks, when checked with Chennai they did not receive my case. I started following up with Delhi & Chennai but all my efforts went in vein. During that period I was visiting Delhi so I decided to visit them personally & know the status. It was past 3 weeks when I visited them, ,y case was still lying at New Delhi & nobody knew what to do with my case..I again repeated my case & the representative made a note of it & assured me that this would be sent soon. After 4 weeks of long wait in India 2 months after the petition arrived in India from NVC the case was received by Chennai & finally after so much wait I got the letter from them on my interview date for the 3rd of April'06. Happy moment for us. The reason for the confusion was on the petition that my Fiance filed, where he had filled in my information the permanent address was for Delhi & present address was for Hyderabad..NVC when sending the case saw the permanent address & forwarded the case to New Delhi

The moment I got my packages I started working towards collecting all my documents..beginning of another nightmare :crying:;) .

Since I am from Delhi, my parents are in Delhi I asked them to get the Police Clearence Certificate from the Delhi Passport office (PCC), my father started working on that. after 1 week of following up with them they told that they cant issue a PCC untill they see me in person & have a look at the passport. Luckily I was travelling to Delhi during that time so I went to them reapplied for the PCC they refused to issue me one as my present address was Hyderabad. I again got lost in the whole gammoth of bearacracy, started to talk to people I know who could possibly help me. Then somebody adviced me to meet the Cheif Passport Officer to get clarity & the next day was a public holiday  . And I was supposed to leave Delhi in 2 days, the last day I went to meet the passport officer & finally they adviced me & issued me the PCC :whistle: . That evening I got the PCC from the Local Police Station, that was a cake walk.

After 2 days I returned to Hyderabad & got in touch with my local police station for the PCC whom I had contacted 2 weeks back & was informed that I would be issued a PCC from the same station, and had to submit the following documents & I would get the PCC in 1-2 days. When I returned back from Delhi I went with all the documents to them, where I was shuttled from 1 person to another & then was informed that the PCC would not be issued from the local police station, but from the Commisioner's office :crying: another nightmare. I got in touch with some local known people here to help me, we went to the police station to get the real picture. After the locals spoke to them I finally got the real picture that the PCC would be issued from the Commissioner's Office. I went to the office next day, I was handed a list of checklist they needed to issue me a PCC. Collecting all those documents was another nightmare finally, got all the documents & went to submit the documents the next day. Only week and a half left for the innterview and in Hyderabad it take 15-21 days to get the PCC. I met the respective person who would be issueing the PCC & discussed with him with my current situation & he agreed to give me the PCC in a week's time. The week came & I finally got my PCC. After I got the PCC, everything was easy. I cleared my Medical & went for my interview on the 3rd April'06. :D:unsure:

THE DAY...my appointment was at 10 AM IST, I was allowed to eneter the premises at 09:30 hours...waited form my turn. Around 11AM somebody came & collected the appointment letter sent by the consulate, I was still waiting..it was 12 PM IST & I had not been called..this made me a bit nervous as I had a flight at 14:40 hrs. I took the courage to go to one of the officer told her my situatuion & asked her suggestion. She rolled her eyes & went to another officer & got back to after speaking to him, she asked me to meet the other officer the moment he was done with the candidate standing in the queue. It was very sweet of them. My turn came after the candidate left, while I was waiting I was observing that the officer who I went to is an old man & was very rude to people...I knew what I was getting into. Any how he asked me to keep all my documents ready, which I was ready with. He asked me all my documents 1 by 1 & was extremely sweet to me. The questions he asked me was how I met my fiance, did my parents meet him, how long he was in India & when did I visit the US (also if I visited any other country). My observation, me having a valid VISA helped me too. ;) . He checked all my papers, gave me a ticket # and asked me to wait fot 15-20 mns. I was called by the 2nd interviewer in 20 mns, he looked at me & told me that he was informed that I had a flight to take..he ensure that I would be done soon so I could get my flight. He too was very sweet to me, looked at all my papers..asked me to SWEAR if all the information was correct & if I would marry my Fiance in 90 days. He looked at our pictures & was very amused to see my dogs pictures (gifted by my fiance). He too asked how we met & for how long did my fiance stay in India. He then started to talk about the historical momuments which were in the pictures of ours.:dance: . That's it...I was approved for my VISA & I got the VISA 2 days after my Interview.

My experience in Chennai Consulate was wonderful, they were so considerate of my situation...again everything is very situational.

Now I am flying on the 28th to my SWEETHEART!!!!!!! (L)(L):D

I wish everybody all the best.......

  12. Hi All,

Just curious how long from date of the interview is the VISA (passport) is sent to you?

And if they approve your VISA during the interview, then is there a possibility that the VISA is rejected later?

    Regards

    Udiken

  13. Hi All,

I am back & as usual very nervous...i guess would stay nervous till I know where I am standing

I got both packet 3 & 4, guess have all the documents in place but the only document I am having issues is with the Police Clearance Certificate as I might get or might not get the cerficate on time. If I do not have the certificate on time what are my options?

Also my fiance & me did not have a formal engagement ( it was just me & him ) so we dont have pictures of the engagement but have the pictures of me wearing the ring after the we got engaged. however we have out flight tickets & hotel bill where we stayed. Would those proof be enough for the engagement?

Lastly what all are the potential reasons for the rejection of the Visa if so what is my option & how can we get it approved?

I would be very greatful if you could help me, thanks! :help:

  14. Hi All,

I was reading through the communication here & was anxious to ask questions to all of here.

I am an Indian citizen & my fiance is a US citizen & I am supposed to appear for my interview in Chennai & was curious & anxious to on which ground can they deprive me of the VISA & if they do so how can we approach them & get the VISA issued to us?

As I do see that one of you got rejected & then got approved again, can you please help me? :help:
