  1. This is a really long thread to sift through on my phone so if someone could answer a quick question I would appreciate it.

I applied for aos on 10/30/13, received an interview waiver letter for me and my children on 01/14/14 and I got my GC last august....yet my children still have not, I contact USCIS every 12 weeks about it and always get the same letters in response (basicly saying that they can not give me an answer).

So is this wait time normal for k2 applications? And when my GC needs renewal next year can I still put my children on the same form?

    Thank you

  2. I received my waiver letters 11 months ago (28th of feb) my I-485s were received by USCIS on the 30th of October 2013.

My greencard arrived in August 2014 (6 months from letter date) but I never received any for my children. I have since contacted USCIS on 2 separate occasions and have been given a written response that basically said... we have no answer for you.

I am going to contact them again on monday as it comes on the second tax year where we can not claim EIC for our four children due to the fact that they can not receive SS numbers.

Anyway. I shall join the long list of waiverwaiters -_-

  3. I had the same problem when I lived in Switzerland, I had married my ex husband in 2000 and we moved to his home country in 2004 (by this stage I was already pregnant with my 4th child) when my child was 6 months old I had the police remove my husband from my house and never let him back, I spoke no German, had only one "friend" and the days got pretty long and lonely, his family lived 3 hours away by train and they never called as his mother and father have not a word of English... anyway after a few months I threw myself into school and learned German, I got a job in an Irish Bar Im a terrible barmaid but as the only Irish woman around it worked in my favour) Got a day and a night nanny (as I had school in the day and work at nights) met some wonderful Swiss people and made my own life.

I left Switzerland in 2009 after my divorce and came to the middle of Ireland and to be honest I am more lonely here than I ever was (even those first few months) I have neighbours who have not spoken to me since they found out I am divorced, my family visits me maybe once a month and any friends I had from before I left have moved on.

Love to you and hope that you find your life where you are xx

  4. In Chicago there is the Fondue stube, I passed by it many times while visiting my Fiance (he lives maybe 4 blocks away) , and wanted to go in as I have not had proper racklette since leaving Switzerland in 2009 but it was the middle of summer each time I visited and FAR FROM fondue weather.... I shall make a point of bringing him for fondue on his birthday in late november.

  5. OH MY GOSH!!!! This stopped my heart! I cannot believe the costs are so much for a family!! They have to get us for every penny...

    Fiancé petition $340

    Our medicals were €1400 ($1800)

Certified copies of birthcerts and old marriage cert €246 ($320)

    Swiss police cert CHF40 ($40)

    photographs €35 ($45)

Translation of documents from German €220 ($290)

    interview €960 ($1260)

Travel to and from Dublin 3 times €120 ($155)

stamps for the interview €62.50 ($80)

one way tickets to the USA €2899 ($3800)

Boxes to be sent to the USA €1500 ($1970)

and my fiance flew in for the interview on short notice for $950

    so $11,010

Obviously my fiance didnt have to fly in (it was my choice to have him there) but yea I have spent quite a few pennies since this whole thing started, but there are 5 of us moving over.

My wedding budget is like NOTHING right now -_- court house and a party with friends looks to be on the cards :D

  6. My fiancé came with me to the dublin interview as I was such a nervous mess that he flew over to calm me down, in the Irish embassy it was grand, they just asked me "is that your fiancé" and I said yes and they the rest of the questions bar one were towards him (the one question being what I was doing in switzerland when we met there)

I am so glad that our embassy allows it as I think I would have been full force panic attack is he was not there

  7. To be honest if I was not so relieved to have them I would be a little irritated.

The embassy asked me to provide envelopes of a certain size with stamps to the value of €12.50 on each (€62.50 in stamps -_-) anyway I was fine with that until it was delivered at 07.30 and I missed the post man... I was told to go pick them up at the mail center with photo ID (the only photo ID I have is my passport which is in the package) so I had to call my brother and get him to drive down from Dublin to pick up my mail.... ANYWAY this is still not what I have a problem with, my problem is 2 of the outer envelopes were ripped open , damp and you could see the passports., I am just so glad there was no damage to the inner envelopes.

Anyway YEAY I have visas and my tickets are booked, so excited for my wedding.

  8. I agree with Ramsey... this visa issue can be stressful, and the distance is also killing me, however we have to stay positive, everything will be alright... we also haven't got our NOA2, coz we have an RFE and still waiting for a response from them... this visa issue is a test of patience in a relationship.. a test if we can endure all this waiting... and True Love always wins.. I believe that Time and Will makes Miracles smile.png

God Bless us all in this journey, we may receive our NOA2 soon (happy.png)

I also agree, the strain of a LDR is enough as it isand as the years go on you have ups and downs and stresses and strains, I have been with my fiancé 5 years now and engaged for 2 years and the whole process does put an extra stress on the relationship, I freaked out so much about UPS being late (my fiancé had forgotten to sign a form and it was less than a week to interview) that my fiancé decided just to fly over for the interview.... HONESTLY the stress was so much for me that when he arrived I just cried ( I do not deal well with stress)

But it all pays off in the end and please god I leave here visa in hand in 8 weeks to go start a new life with a wonderful man.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all ye that are still waiting.

  9. Yes, sorry I was a wee bit excitable yesterday :D.

I got to the interview 20 mins early and they let us go straight to security (probably as there were six of us to get through) my fiancé had flown in as I was a bundle of nerves and I had brought all of my children with me too. Went in and took a number, waited maybe 20 mins to be called to the cashier... waited .... got called for paperwork. The man taking the paperwork was lovely and so patient as I had a LOT of paperwork (5 peoples worth) so that took a while... waited... got called for fingerprints ( I was so nervous at this stage that the machine wouldn't work as my hands were sweating -_- ).... waited....waited..... we were last to be called for interview even though we arrived first but I guess it took a long time to check all the papers were in order for so many people.

They asked a couple questions to my fiancé, were he works, how long, what he was doing in switzerland when we met then asked me was I working in Switzerland at that time, they said I would need a letter from the childrens father saying he agrees with the move before we could go any further but it was actually written within a letter saying he will support the children financially, I told them this and they searched through all my papers, found and re-read the letter and told us we would have the visas in a week :o

I am just glad I managed the entire day without crying.
