  1. Anyone got scheduled for an interview as yet????

They email me saying they received the supporting documents and i should wait 30 days. Just want to know if anyone got consular interview date before the 30 days waiting period

This 30 day wait is for document approval. You might get lucky and it takes less time or it could take more. Not sure if Christmas will slow things down a bit. Once you get approval, then you're waiting for an interview.. So if you get approval in Dec, depending on your consulate, the earliest likely scenario is you're told in Jan about an interview for Feb. If your consulate is busy, it could take longer. If they aren't busy it could be scheduled immediately but that's rare.

  2. I don't know where and what is going wrong, everytime we call them they say the date mentioned on USCIS website that is 25th March.

The thing about that chart is it was up to date on August 31. So on that date they were working on March 25. You would hope that by early November they would be well into April or even in May. But until it's updated you won't know. A friend of mine just waited almost a year at TSC, never found out why. I'd call twice a week to get updates until you're approved and try to speak to a level 2 supervisor every few weeks.

  3. ok so today my hubby who is the sponsor got the welcome letter and the list of things to do from NVC. now the problem here is that the location for my interview is not in Sydney Australia (Im in Australia and interviews are normally held in Sydney) it is in Vienna, Austria. I cant go there as I have two kids and one is newborn. why did they choose Austria when it can be Australia. can it be changed? if yes, would it delay the process of getting the visa. and where do I call to change this or help me with it.

It's probably a mistake on their side, someone chose the wrong thing since they're right next to each other alphabetical. I'd just call NVC and find out if you need to do anything to get it switched or if they can do it without a form. It shouldn't delay things.

  4. Have you received your interview date yet? My case was complete on the 25th. If not, do you call every day?

No interview date yet. Interviews for Nov won't be assigned for a couple weeks yet so I'm not overly obsessing over that yet. So calling once a week right now. Around the 2 week of Oct, I'll probably start calling twice a week until I hear something until the end of the month. But calling everyday at this point doesn't speed anything up and NVC doesn't have control over the number of interview spots at each embassy.

  5. Did I do the right thing? I called the NVC and and the two said I'm over the 30 days so she put me on supervisor review.... But as I've read here that this can take up to 42 days. She didn't even ask my permission to put it on review... Urrgh!!! I'm stresssssseeedddd!

I got my CC about a week after I got put on supervisors review. I also was calling every other day after I got the review and kept asking to speak to a supervisor.

  6. Anyone here got cc after sending a checklist in less then 30 days or exactly 30 days?

We didn't get a cc until 46 days after we responded to our checklist.

Well sadly I've already sent it all by email so not much choice now. Just have to hope for the best.

We got a checklist after 11 days doing EP. Assuming that if we hadn't had problems submitting the DS-260, we would have gotten the cc then. So unless things have slowed down majorly for EP in the last 6 weeks, I'd assume that it shouldn't take you too long! Good luck :)

  7. Hello everyone!!! I have a quick question We got our checklist in 17 days but once we respond to the checklist it takes FOREVER!!!!.. 25 days and still counting ??. Everyone on here is getting CC in 20 days. Why is taking so long?? what should we do????

Btw they confirmed our checklist response.

I'm convinced that anyone who gets a checklist gets put into a separate pile and forgotten about. Our case didn't get touched until 42 days after we responded to the checklist and I think that's only because I called and called and called and finally got them to put us on a supervisor review around 38 days and then kept calling.

  8. Hey guys, first of all, blessings and good luck to all of us in this journey!

I have a particular question. I am a US Citizen, but been living abroad since I was a baby so I have never, ever, filed taxes with IRS. Plain ignorance I must admit... I just never thought of that and of course, now that I know, I will file my foreign income taxes properly sometime soon.

Do I HAVE to file taxes and submit my IRS Transcripts even tho I will use a Joint Sponsor?

Yes. You need to file taxes and submit the transcripts or the entire return. Time to call an accountant.

  9. Ugh!!! So got an email from NVC requesting a police certificate today. After we've been waiting 42 days for them to review the DS260 ??. Why couldn't they have said something in the first checklist or in the multiple times I've spoken to the on the phone so now we wouldn't be waiting again!! ??? Anyway, per the Australian consulate website residents of QLD are suppose to submit their police certificates directly to the consulate. You'd think that NVC would know that since I'm sure we're not the first ones from QLD to apply for a visa but they have no clue. So sent an email explaining that as I was requested to email the police certificate and started trying to call. Finally get through, the rep is clueless and says go submit some form on their website and says is could be another 30 days ??????. I ask to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor is also clueless. But she'll look into it and told me to call back in a week. I won't be waiting a week. But once they get this mess straightened out we have a CC.

  10. AOS paid August 31st and shows PAID

DS-261 still not reviewed from August 31st.

Was advised by NVC rep to send in the I-864 along with the supporting docs for AOS & DS-260. E-mailed September 15th.

I will be calling in the morning to get the DS-261 reviewed so I can pay the IV fees and submit the DS-261 before they send me a checklist because the documents were submitted before the fees & forms.

Has anyone else did it in this order and not had a problem?

It's iffy. As long as they don't review your docs before you get the DS260 submitted, you'll be fine. If they do and you get a checklist for the DS260, you're likely to find yourself in the same situation we've been in for the last 6 weeks. We emailed in documents, then had trouble submitting the DS260. Got a checklist for that 11 days after we sent the docs and our case didn't get touched again until 6 weeks later. (Today) and we still don't have a CC. ?
  11. Well...... I just got off the phone with the NVC rep... I'm now on supervisors review.... Yaaay.... I heard these suck.

So I got flagged for a supervisor review 2 days ago. The rep that flagged my case wouldn't give me a time frame for how long it would take. Called back tonight "I want to know the status of my case". The rep confirmed without me saying anything my case had been flagged. I asked to speak to a supervisor, "one couldn't be found". Talked to the rep another minute and said I had been trying to speak to a supervisor for several days and had requested a callback and never got one, then asked again to speak to a supervisor again and he managed to "find" one. The supervisor said he'd forward my request to another supervisor but he couldn't do anything about it. Basically said it was my fault I'm in this mess because I sent docs before I submitted the DS260. Well if their website had been working the DS260 would have been submitted sooner and I wasn't expecting them to review my case in 11 freaking day. And said it could take up to 42 more days. I said flat out that it wasn't acceptable since they say it will only take 30 days and it had been over 30 days already and I knew that others had received CCs that had submitted doc after me. Since all the reps say they process cases in order in which they're received, either they're lying or something else is going on. Anyways this supervisor goes on to say that he wasn't actually available, he took my call because he wanted to help and he would call me back when my case is complete. I'm giving them another 2 days before I call back again.

Polite but insistent the whole time.

I also find it very frustrating when their phone system says it's approximately a 20 minute wait and it takes 40+ minutes before you actually get to talk to someone. I was in a much better mood after only 20 minutes on hold vs 40 minutes on hold.

  12. I (and at least one other person here) got our emails saying that the NVC have got our paperwork and are sending them though to Sydney on the 7th of September. Does anyone know how long it takes usually between that email.. and one from Sydney saying "Oh hi, we have your stuff here, now its time to organise the interview" ?

So do you have an interview date??

  13. Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before. I've searched the forums and I can't find the answers.

My husband and I live together in Spain. I am an American citizen. He is Spanish. We have gotten our NOA2 and we are going through the NVC process. Since both of us work in Spain, we need to get a Joint Sponsor and my father has agreed to do it.

In Part 3 (Information about the immigrant you are sponsoring), since I am going to have a joint sponsor, do I mark YES or NO? There are no family members coming with us from Spain, so I imagine that I can skip 3a-27. In 28, is the number of immigrants I am sponsoring 1? Or is it 0 because technically my father is going to be sponsoring my husband? You are also sponsoring your husband so mark yes, your father is a joint sponsor.

For my mailing address, I have put my parent's address in the U.S. because this is what we used for the I-130 mailing address. However my physical address will be in Spain. Is this ok? Yes. I put both addresses as our address in Australia.

The thing that has me the MOST confused is the country of Domicile. Would I put that it is Spain, in this case? Or would it be the U.S., since I have only been living outside the U.S. since 2013? I already have completed a letter that shows that I have a bank account, mailing address, voter registration card in the U.S., however I'm not sure whether with this I am proving that I have U.S. Domicile or that I am re-establishing it. Hence, I don't know what to put in the form. Can someone help? You put USA and include your letter.

I have another question about Sponsor's Household Size (PART 5)

If the number is 28 is 1 (person you are sponsoring in this affadavit), and I enter 1 for myself, that's 2. But then if I enter and "1" for my spouse, that's a total of 3 for #8 (household size). That seems really strange, considering that we are counting my husband twice. Is that the way it is supposed to be? Really, my household size is only 2. Don't count anyone twice. You put 1 for you and 1 for the person you are sponsoring. Put 0 for spouse

Finally, I read somewhere that since I am only earning income abroad, that I should put in Part 6, question 2, that my annual income is $0. Is that correct? That means that since my husband is working in Spain as well, we can't use any of his income either, so question 15 would also be 0? That's my understanding but I have a job to go to in the US so I used that info.

Sorry, I know it's a TON of questions. But I would forever grateful if someone could help me out.

    Thanks in advance.

My answers are in blue. Hope that helps. We started the process while I was living in Australia with my husband.

  14. What is unfortunate about that is it seems others have done the same, sent documents before submitting the DS260 and they got case complete. I don't really follow the system, it seems quite arbitrary.

I think as long as you get your DS260 submitted before they review your docs it doesn't matter when it gets submitted. But it seems with EP they're moving even faster these days so I wouldn't recommend to anyone doing EP to send docs before they're able to submit the DS260. Definitely not worth the risk of a checklist because then it seems you get placed in a different pile that gets ignored.

  15. I completed the DS-261 & paid the AOS fees on August 31, 2015. I am still waiting for the AOS to show PAID & for the DS-261 to be reviewed.

I will be electronically filing so I need to pay the IV fee, submit the DS-260 and get the IV Cover Sheet to submit with the supporting documents. I also can't send my AOS documents because they want all documents sent at the same time.

I called a few days ago and they said it was still locked and to wait until the beginning of next week. How long should I wait before I take your suggestion and ask for a supervisor?

    Thank you,

If you're doing EP, you don't need the cover sheet to send in with the docs. But don't send in anything until you've completed the DS260. Then you can avoid the problem I've found myself in where I ended up getting a checklist for the DS260 after 11 days and 35 days later I'm still waiting for a CC.

I have to wonder if things would go faster if they weren't on the phone all the time, answering the same questions from the same people every single day! But I suppose those are dedicated phone-answering people, not the people who process the forms, eh.

I saw someone said on here that VJ people are like 5% of the total people submitting petitions, so...there are a lot of pieces of paper out there, folks, all attached to files of people who are in just as much of a hurry as we are.

I suck at being patient :(

The people answering the phones aren't the same ones reviewing the cases.

  16. Called back again today. Was told again things are taking 30-45 days. Asked to speak to a supervisor. She said one wasn't available but the supervisor told her that 30 days actually meant 30 business days?!? And then was shocked when I said that all the communication I had received from them and what was on their website just said 30 days. If you mean 30 business days, specify 30 business days!! Anyway I asked for a callback and she noted to call during hours I would be awake in Australia.

How long is reasonable to wait for a callback?

  17. Is your spouse with you in Australia? If not, can they call them instead?

My case got CC fast, but my daughter's case got stuck twice (for DS-261 and DS-260) and it was hell. In both cases, we had to speak to supervisors to get it done. What I noticed is that usually the NVC reps treat my husband a lot better than me. I don't know if it's simply because he is an USC - I don't have much of an accent and I think I'm very polite.

Maybe it's my Latin blood, but I never managed to get a NVC rep to do anything for me, lol.

I'm the USC and for the next 5 weeks I'm still living here in Australia with my hubby. I know he won't be able to move with my 2.5yr old and me, but I was at least hoping he'd be able to join us before Christmas. Now I'm not so sure...
