  1. Ever thanking God for my visa approval yesterday    . An hour waiting in line to get to the building, and 3 hours waiting  to talk to the CO are no match with the exceeding joy I feel now. Will be joining my dearest husband next month.

To my VJ family, thanks for all the help, info, encouragement and inspiration!

To all the Christians out there who believe in the power of God and prayer....KEEP ON! God is faithful and true to His promises. You will be with your beloved soon. It will surely happen. (L)

I will still be around to help VJers in their journey. I will write a short review re my interview. God bless everyone! (F)

  2. No, CENOMAR will only states that your not married before.

going to NSO tomorrow is a good idea, but I doubt they can rush it. You better go to your interview and if ever you get form 221g for not having CEMAR then you just have to wait for it to be released and submit immediately to USEM.

    Good luck!

Yup, praying for God's favor upon me as I talk to NSO people, and then the CO. Thanks so much! :)

  3. First, I would like to thank VJ community for awesome people who take time to help and give info.

It was only last Friday, March 1, when I found out on this site that CEMAR (Marriage Index) is needed during the VISA INTERVIEW :bonk: . This isnt included in the Appointment Letter sent to me by the NVC. Never heard of this. When I came across this term, I thought it's similar to MC from the NSO. My American lawyer never mentioned this (dont want to bother him anymore)!

My docs folder has been ready since December 2012 for my interview. I had plenty of time then. And few days before my interview I found out about my need for CEMAR (5-10 days processing) . My interview is on March 6, 2013. OK, I have my CENOMAR issued April 25, 2012. I got married May 14, 2012.

I will go to the NSO early morning March 4 and will request for a rush release. In case, they can't release a CEMAR for me that fast, do you think my CENOMAR will confirm that I didnt have any other marriage between April 25, 2012 to May 14, 2012  ? CEMAR shows number of marriages, right? The Filipino pre-screener should honor this, I thought.

Thank you for any feedback. God bless everyone.

  4. Hello. My husband is planning to go to St Luke's next week for his Medical Exam. Interview is scheduled March 19. I keep seeing here that it takes a "full 2 days" to complete the process. Is it possible for him to go early in the morning, leave after lunch (even if process is not done), and then return the next day to continue the process. He could even return a third day if necessary. Work schedule makes it difficult for him to plan a FULL day at St. Lukes... anybody out there in VJ land know about this? Thanks so much. :)

Hi, I was at St. Lukes for medical exam last Feb 12 from 8:00am-4:00pm and then Feb 13 from 1:00-2:30pm only. He can come as early as 7am. He will have to complete the first day whole day process/check-up like XRay, vital sign, physical exam, and vaccination interview. Before check out he will be advised as to the time he will need to come back the following day. If there is no more further exam needed on the second day, he will get vaccination. It usually takes a max of 2 hours to complete the day 2 process. Well, this is my experience.

By the way, he can register online -- that will save him much time--not to fill up reg. form at SLEC anymore. Remember this is not an appointment but only registration and he should print this out and bring to SLEC

Maybe other Vj members could help with regards to your other questions. Good day. :)

  5. Good morning =))

Just like a couple of others stated, I've already visited the U.S. Embassy and had my Fiance' come in with me. So I'm going to try and bring her with me =))

Now, when I go to city hall with LCM in hand, I'm assuming I'll need the marriage license in hand before we can have the civil wedding. Right?

And where do I get in contact with someone that can marry us? Is that also available at the City Hall? Or is there another process in the Philippines that I have to follow? Here in the states we can get married at City Hall and a "Justice of the Peace" is who usually marries you. How does it work in the Philippines?

Thanks again for all your help =))

btw.....any idea's for places to go for a honeymoon? I was looking at the white beach in Puerto Galera. Another other nice places to hit & visit while I'm there this time. I'll be there from March 4th to March 31st.

Good morning. Well, that's great if she can go with you inside. Yes, of course you will need your marriage license for the civil wedding. My pastor was the one who officiated our wedding. The city mayor or a judge can perform the marriage and they hold office at the city hall. You may please ask any of the staff when you apply for marriage license.

Places for honeymoon? Please check this website www.villaescudero.com or canyonwoods.com

    Congrats on your wedding.

  6. So you're already married in a civil ceremony and you're planning a church wedding in the US now right? Make sure you have your NBI and your CEMAR, along with your affidavit of support forms (I-864, etc.) We just had our interview a week ago. I spent so much time preparing all this stuff like all these pictures of us together and proof of joint bank account and vehicle ownership, tons of proof of my intent to re-establish US domicile, etc, etc, and they didn't have ANY interest in seeing any of it. They wanted our NSO Marriage certificate, her NSO birth certificate, NSO CEMAR, I-864, and the tax transcripts. I tried to give them photocopies of the MC, BC, and CEMAR but they very sternly insisted on keeping the originals. Copies of the tax info is fine (that's all you would really have to give them anyway). When you arrive there will be several very aggressive vendors trying to tell you what line to get into, don't believe them. My wife and I spent about 15 min in the wrong line (along with many others who also believed the vendors). Go straight to a guard and ask them where you're supposed to be. Good luck. You will spend many hours waiting for your number to be called again and again, but the actual interviews are pretty darn quick. :)

Oh thank you so much for sharing a bit of your experience that time. I do appreciate.

We are having our church wedding here in Manila.

I have already submitted my orig NBI clearance and based on the Appointment letter, this cert "has been received and accepted as a post meeting post requirement". So I don't need to bring a new one, right? Well, I will have my personal copy with me (NBI).

Thanks again. Whew! One week to go.... :)

My wife had copies of my tax returns and it was fine.

    Thank you! :)

Scanned copy is fine. Good luck!!! :)

    Thank you! :)

  7. Hi there. I will have my visa interview on March 6. I have everything ready like orig MC, BC (in case they ask) exchange of emails, photographs, money transfer, holiday/bday cards that my hubby sent etc. I have printed out his scanned copies of 2009,2010,2011 Tax Return.

Did I miss something  ? Just wanna make sure as we are taking a leap of faith (L) . Hubby got my one way plane ticket and his two-way ticket, set our church wedding next month, booked the hotel etc.

Any advise or words of encouragement will be so appreciated. Blessings to all! :)

  8. Thank you sooooo much for this information. I already made an appointment for next Tuesday 9:30am (the day after I land in Manila) at the U.S. Embassy so I can get the "legal capacity to marry" certificate. Should I go ahead and schedule the date with the office of the Philippine Civil Registrar where she lives now as well? Can that be done online as well? And does the U.S. consulate issue the Capacity to marry cert the same day as my appointment usually?

I noticed they said just bring my passport & proof of divorce decree. Do you think I should bring my birth certificate as well? My last name is different now from when I was born. Both my parents were French & came to the USA in 1959, so when my parents became U.S. citizens in 1970, they changed all our last names. So my birth certificate has my old last name, but my passport has my new last name. I also have the receipt for "change of name" that's with my birth certificate. Also, I was told that since the last election here in the U.S., that only a long form of birth certificate is accepted anymore. I checked to see how long it would take to get one of those....and they said something like 3 months because they're so backed up. So I really hope if they need my birth certificate, that they won't make a big deal out of the name change. I was born in Los Angeles, so I'm an American citizen.

I'll contact you for sure. I could use the help of someone that's recently gone through this. Thank you so very very much everyone. I really appreciate it.

    God Bless,

    John

Hi again, you're very much welcome. You will get your "legal capacity to marry" on the same day. It will take only 2-3 hours. By the way, if your lady will accompany you, she can't go inside the embassy. She will just have to wait outside. Only those with appointment are allowed to get in.

Soon as you get your LCM certificate you may proceed to the city hall. This is where you will need your birth certificate, both yours and hers. No appointment online. Processing usually takes up to 10 days and then you can have your marriage license. If you've got enough time to wait, pls avoid paying extra (more or less $100)just so they can expedite. Although they could do that for you. It is legal, with receipt, though. We had to do it because my husband was here in Manila for only 14 days. Marriage license fee is only about $2.50. (Am computing in dollars but you will pay in peso).

Am not sure about your birth cert issue. My hubby had a name issue on his previous marriage cert. We had an affidavit to attest "one and the same person". You may ask your agency about this.

    God bless your journey. :)

  9. Hello all. I had a question for those familiar with the Philippines.

I'm getting married in the month of March, so I'm leaving Los Angeles March 2nd to do this and will be there till March 31st. I plan on filing for the CR1 visa for my wife, once we secure the marriage license.

Can someone tell me specifically what it would take to get married in the Philippines? What I need to do, where to go, etc? I managed to get a long term stay at a condo near Manila bay. Which should be close to all the agencies I need to visit. I also have someone (an agency) that is going to take care of the filing for her CR1 Visa when I get back.

I've read things about CENOMAR's (which my fiance' has already), physicals, appointments at the U.S. Embassy, etc. Does anybody have any information on who could do our civil wedding, where to go, who to call, etc.? I know nothing about the process.

2ndly, my fiance' has a daughter who's birth certificate has her Fathers last name instead of fiance's. Do you think that would pose a problem come time to bring her and her daughter into the U.S.? Is there a way to have his name taken off the birth certificate and have just hers put there? He hasn't been part of the daughters life since she was born....since he basically abandoned her.

    Thanks for anybodies help! John.

Hi. I am a Filipina and my husband a USC. Please follow this link.

    http://manila.usembassy.gov/marriage.html

You will need a legal capacity to marry. You may book online. THis link is very helpful. If you are divorced man, please be ready with your divorce decree.

Regarding Marriage Certificate which is the number one requirement for filing a CR1 visa, soon as your wedding is done, I suggest that you immediately file at the city hall where you wife lives. It usually takes 2 months for NSO (National Statistics Office) to give you a copy of your Marriage Certificate. This is the official copy and the one USCIS requires.

If you have any other question, i am very much willing to help. Just send me an email. My interview is on March 6, we are almost done. God bless you.

  10. Happy Valentines day everybody. I hope you had a wonderful day with your loved ones. This is the first time I spent valentines day with Thu and it was amazing. Best wishes to everybody still going through the visa process. If your love is strong you can overcome anything!

Happy V Day to you, too! (L)

  11. Yes, you passed your medical exam! If you had not passed the exam you would not have gotten the X-ray and CD. St. Lukes would have told you that additional testing/treatment was going to be needed.

    Like the above posted stated...

    Congratulations! And, best of luck!

Oh yes, I agree with you. Thanks! :)

    COngratulations!!

    Thanks so much Irah! :D

  12. Done with my 2-day Medical exam at St. Luke's. On this second day, my heart was pounding fast as I was waiting for the guard what to stamp on my receipt "for sputum exam" (for those with scar/spot on chest x ray) or "for immunization" for those without issue. I never had primary complex but read some posts here that made me a bit anxious. They never had TB but a scar/spot was found on their X ray and so they had to undergo sputum test, and had a two month delay.

I got three vaccinations! I asked the staff at the Releasing Section who gave me my CD X ray and Vaccination Report which I will need to bring to the US "Does this mean that I pass the medical exam?" She replied back "well, who could say, we are not the ones to tell you, but I see there are no more further testing that they require". She asked my interview date and just orient me a bit what to present during the interview.

Hours of waiting during the first day was very tiring, but thank God this is the second to the last "hurdle". One more to pass on March 6 interview. And I will be with my beloved again, soonest.

    God bless everyone!

  13. Good day!

I am thinking of getting the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) at the CFO. We just received NOA1 in Jan 28, 2013. Is it too early for me to get GCC, coz i still dont have my visa. Also, when i get my GCC can i apply for my passport afterwards? do they still need my visa in applying passport?

    thank you again in advance!!!!!!!

Hi. Yes that is the best thing you can do for now. You'll get a certificate after attending the seminar. You will need that cert for your passport application. They wont require any visa yet. Soon as you get your visa, you may go back to CFO and get your sticker. :)

P.S. Please be ready with info regarding your petitioner/spouse like his phone number and address, details on previous marriage/s or divorce, phone numbers of your relatives in the U.S. God bless you!

  14. Hi there VJers. I am scheduled for interview on March 6. I am living with my sister who plans to move on March 2 to a new house, same city. What forms do I need to fill up and who should I contact? I just wanna make sure this won't be a big problem.

Thanks so much for any help or info. :help:
