  1. Hi Everyone, I have a problem.

We are getting ready to send the i-864 and the ds-230 this week. Just as we were finalizing the packets, I notice a mistake on my husbands place of birth. He thought that the hospital was in the city called "Rishon Lezion," but I looked on his birth certificate apparently the hospital's address is listed in another small town called "Be'er Yaakov." Be'er Yaakov is a small town and they border each other. He was sure that the hospital is in Rishon Lezion, but he was wrong. So on the i-130, we reported his place of birth as Rishon Lezion, but we now know that this is a mistake. What do I do?? Will this be a problem? I'm so worried!

My plan is to put his birth place on the DS-230 as Be'er Yaakov and then I will call the NVC immediately to let them know about the discrepancy. Should I mention this also on my cover letter with the DS-230?

    What do you think?

  2. It's just that the woman I talked to told me she would print it and send it right away... I have def had some issues with the mail. My mom ordered once and it never came. Then she called back and re-ordered and it came in a week. (in the US).

I don't want to wait to send my aos because of that. It does say on the form I can send photocopies. Has anyone had a problem or know some one who did doing this??? My income doesn't count anyways, so I don't want to wait...

  3. Hello,

I am filling out my i-864 for my husband. I have lived abroad with my husband for the last 6.5 years, and my salary will not continue when we move to the US. (I have a joint sponsor.) I just recently lost my job on 12/25/2012. I am listing myself as unemployed. Should I should still list my annual income as what I earned in 2011? (2011 is the most recent tax return)

Also, I have ordered my transcripts a month ago and they have not arrived, but I will be sending the AOS package soon. The mail is not very reliable in my country where I now live. Is it okay that I just send copies of my returns?

    Thanks for your advice,

    Julie

  4. Thank you both. So you think since he never became a permanent resident we don't have to list him? I'd rather not be associated with him if I can avoid it. He overstayed and married after a student visa and has been facing deportation hearings for years. (he has been in the us for around 15 years. His greencard was denied.) but I don't want to leave him off if it is necessary because I want to do everything by the books.

  5. My mother is my joint sponsor for my Israeli husband. She also was joint sponsor my sisters foreign husband several years ago. My sisters husband was denied, and has been in court hearings for years. He still did not get a greencard. They live in the US. My husband and I live abroad. My question is: does my mother list my sisters husband in her household? Or does she need to indicate this somewhere?

Thank you in afvance for your answers.

  6. I am a USC and gave birth abroad. I did a consular report of birth and my son has US citizenship, US passort, and a social security number. I lived most of my life in the US, but have been abroad since 2006. Here is a link with info: http://travel.state.gov/law/family_issues/birth/birth_593.html

It was easy to do. I did it when he was 2 months old, and it only took 1 day. We made an appointment at the US embassy and brought the necessary proof and forms, and that was it. I think it was that you have to have lived in the US for at least 5 years after age 18. I brought my college transcripts to prove that, and then just my proof of citizenship (US birth certificate).

    Congrats on your baby!

    :-) Jules

  7. Hello, I have another question about the I864. I have filled it out now and am waiting for NOA2. I filled it out with 2012 as the most recent tax year. If I get sent to NVC and AOS is requested after Jan 1 (which is likely, since my priority date is only one month ago) do I need to redo it with 2012 as the most recent tax year? Or is there some leeway? I am worried because I live abroad and it could really take some time for me to get all the forms from my employers and get my tax returns filed and then a transcript... all from abroad. I'm worried that could really hold us up...

    Thank you,

    Jules

  8. Hello Everyone. Thank you in advance for your help. It's kind of a lot of questions... I hope it's not too much. I will first provide a little background. I am the USC, I live abroad with my husband and have for 6.5 years. I am up to date on my tax returns. My mother will be my Joint Sponsor, as I do not have enough assets, and my income will not continue after we move to the states.

Here are my questions on my i-864:

    1. Do I have to put n/a or none in all of the blanks, like I did on the I-130?

    2. On question number 8, it has a check box, then says, "I am sponsoring the prinicipal immigrant named in Part 2 above." Underneath that there are 2 more check boxes for "Yes" and "No".... This seems redundant. Do I check the box next to the statement and the "Yes"? What is the meaning of this? (I am my husband's sponsor. He is the principal and only immigrant)

    3. My mailing address and place of domicile should both be in the US right? (my parent's address) Even though I haven't lived there for years? I still list it because our intention is to move there...?

    4. For total houshold income, do I just list my income or do I include my husband's income? Neither one of them counts anyways.

    5. Tax Returns for 2nd and 3rd prvious years: Is this really necessary since my income doesn't count anyways? It says "Optional," but I don't want to cause an RFE. But at the same time it just seems like extra paper work and doesn't provide any information about my future ability to support my husband.

    6. On the last part, the sponsor's contract, it says "Print your name". Do they mean this needs to be handwritten or can I type it in like the rest of the form?

Thank you so so so much to anyone who read this whole thing and can help me!

    Jules :)

  9. Hello all. I am filling out the i864 AOS for my husband and my mother will be my joint-sponsor. I live abroad with my husband and have been here with him for 6.5 years. I listed my parent's address as my permanent residence in the US. We will live there when we first arrive, and it is the address I have on my us bank account and drivers license. Since I am listed at the same address as my parents, does that mean that my mother should fill out i864A, as a household member whose income I am using? Or does she fill out i864 as the joint sponser?

    Than you for your help!

  10. Thank you for your reply. I don't think that my mom should have any problem covering all of us, I just want to make sure to cover all of my bases. (My brother-in-law is not yet a US citizen.) And good to know that me and my son don't have to be counted in the household. (FYI: My son has US citizenship because I did a Consular Report of Birth Abroad when he was born)

    So to confirm:

My mom and I both fill out the I-864

    Mom includes:

    3 years of 1040s

    3 years of w2s

    a letter from her employer

    3 previous paystubs

My Dad should fill our I-864A since they file taxes together.

I have lived and worked in Israel for the last 6 years, so I have only 3 years of 1040s to include. I don't have w2s since my employer is not American and a letter from my employer and paystubs wouldn't be relevant since my job is in Israel and I will have to find a new one anyways when I get to the US. So the only docs I will include for my I-864 are my 1040 transcripts. Does this sound right?

Also, I will gather documents to prove intention to domicile.

Does this sound like everything to you guys? Thank you so much for your help!

  11. Hello everyone, I need help to clarify. I want to ask my mother to be the joint sponsor for my husband. Does it matter that she was also a sponsor for my sister's husband? Does she have to have enough money for a household of her, my dad, my sister's husband(who lives in a different part of the country), and my husband? So a house-hold of 4? Or a household of 5 or 6? (since me, my husband and our son will live with them when we first arrive).

    Thanks!
