My fiancée received her visa today for k1, it is a non immigrant visa which I do not understand since she is obviously immigrating. My question is since it is a non immigrant visa can I buy her a 1 way ticket or does it have to be a round trip ticket? I know with a regular tourist visa there must be a return ticket but I am confused by the non immigrant status of her visa. Thanks!!

I agree, if I knew it was going to play out like this that is what I would have done but I have also seen others that say you get the vaccinations in the USA, even the doctor at the exam told her not to worry about the vaccinations.. She is very Leary about taking any medications or getting any shots..

My fiancée went for her interview this morning in Moscow, she said the guy spent a lot of time going over the documents and when he called her up he said the documents were all in order except her vaccinations were not all current, she told him that she was told not to get pregnant for three months after the vaccinations so she did I not get them because be want a baby right away. The guy told her they needed to think about it for 2 weeks and she would get a letter, any thoughts? I am not sure what to do next or what is going on now..

Yeah thanks, since then I cancelled the appointment because that is the only way to see the future appointments and now it lt looks like they were able to get the report done quicker but since I cancelled 2 times I have to pay again, and there are still no dates for June, ugh!!!

Thanks for the reply, we dropped the ball on this one for sure, she went to the village where she lived and they wrote something up but the bigger city says 5 weeks. Her brother called and asked if there is another way and maybe they should pay money but they said no you must wait. I guess she won't be here to see the rockets red glare in July after all..

I was afraid of that being the only option, I am not even sure how to approach such a thing since I am not the one taking care of it..

I had a interview scheduled for next week but the Russian police are saying it will take until June 30th to get the background check? Does anyone know if there is a quick way to do this??
-
No we havent gotten anything besides the email from the embassy, that is what scares me a little because the only dates that were available were 2 weeks from now, will they send the packet in time? Or will the next dates that come available be another month or two away,,,

DS-230? I dont understand where the photo and bar code come in to play on this thing?
-
Ok we received our NOA2 and things are really starting to move quick, I got the notice from the embassy in Moscow so I filled out all of the info there and scheduled a appointment, I do not understand why there are only dates available for the last 2 weeks of May, what about June? It seems that May is too quick because it is only 2 weeks away. The instructions I printed at the end of making the appointment say to bring this letter, your application confirmation page (displaying your photograph and printed bar code). Where do I get the application page with the photo? What info will be sent to my fiancee before the interview and how long does it take to get? Any help will be great, thanks!!

,It doesnt hurt to make another copies. Am also a december filer and they are still processing july/august so ur not beyond the RFE.! At the pace they are processing right now we still have 3-4 months more to wait.
when I look at Igors list we move farther down the list every day, went from 571 to 590, ai ai ai

Ok so I have been waiting since december and I have done everything by the book up until now. I received the NOA1 on december 13th and I made a exact copy of the packet to send to my fiancee, I am going to visit her this week and I was planning on taking the packet to her but now with the current state of affairs at CSC should I make another copy? I have not received a RFE of any type and I was wondering if I am beyond that point now or should I have another copy of everything just in case?

You would do well to heed the general recommendation on travel after receipt of the visa:
Refrain from making any non-transferrable, refundable travel plans until you have the your visa, in your passport, in your hand.
YMMV.
Happy trails on your visa journey.
I agree, thanks,,,

Welcome to the forum.
If you put the correct Service Center in your timeline, you will get a VJ estimate of when your petition may be approved at the California Service Center. The Texas Service Center (the one currently in your timeline) does not process I-129F K-1 petitions.
Good luck on your visa journey.
Thanks for the reply, I changed the service center and this is what I got, Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between April 5, 2013 and May 3, 2013*. If that is the case it might just work out for us I think,,,

I sent in the documents for a I-129F on December 1st, it made it to the Texas Lock box P.0. box on the 7th and was picked up and forwarded to the California office, it was entered into the system on the 13th (my girls birthday) and I received the NOA on the 17th, I went online and it says it is in the initial review stage, I am guessing now we have a 5 month wait? Has anyone had any recent success with the California office getting anything done ahead of schedule or are they running behind?? I am really hopping that we can be together here in the USA on the 4th of July or sooner if possible,,,,,

it would be best to avoid this question at all. Remember, you got an asnwer for USCIS and this might do just fine for them, however the problem I am mentioning would take place almost at the end of the process: during visa interview. imho, it's best not to attact attention to it, but be prepared to answer the questions in a vague way: "the signature on the russian passport is my russian signature, and the signature on the form is the one I will us as english singature until I can develop something better".
btw, you're right virtually all russians have signartures that look like abbreviations and bunch of pretty looking lines, girls are practicing their signatures from like 5-6th grade, and by 10-11th they're practicing their "married" signatures, trying on the last names from the boys that asked them out.
Thanks for your reply, I was also thinking the same about answering in a vague way if the question comes up, it must be a common thing and it isint like we are trying to deceive anyone, the funny thing is after I found the website that gives examples of your signature she said ahhhh now I understand, I told her to pick one and practice and she did one and I said thats it, perfect now remember to sign everything the same and write the date american style, well she got the date right))

pretty much I was in somewhat similar situation. As long as she will use same "signature" when getting visa it would be ok. But if you're familiar with russian process of internal vs external passports, she already signed her external passport and if embassy will check against it (it will be available to them), and asks casual question "why are these different", and she wont answer "I changed signature since I received this passport" - there may be a problem.
If you havent sent those in yet - it would be safer to get those again, asking her to just sign it in the same way as on her international passport.
I just called USISC again because I also had the question about blue vs black ink, they said that blue or black ink and then I asked again about signature, I wanted to know what there definition of a signature is and they said in English or native as long as it is legible or even a X is sufficient but no abbreviations, I have a copy of her Russian passport and it is not legible and it looks like abbreviations, I think it will be ok and the Robot girls at USISC seem to think it is ok, if they ask at the embassy why she changed it I think the answer would have to be because the instructions said it must be legible,, any thoughts?

Hi, I am in the process of putting together all of the info to get a K-1 visa for my Russian fiancee, I helped her with the G325-a and letter of intent by filling them out on my computer and emailing them to her and she then printed them and signed them. Everything was stuffed into a envelope on Monday and today it arrived so I ripped the envelope open to check everything and low and behold she printed her name instead of using what I would call a "American" signature in cursive. I tried to explain to her that she needed a unique signature and even found a website where you could type in a name and it gives 20 different examples, she told me she understood but now that I have the doc's I dont think she did. I just got off of the phone with a Robot woman and USISC and she said that if that is how she writes her name then it is fine but she doesnt understand that she doesnt write her name that way because she uses the Russian alphabet and doesnt read or write English, has anyone else had this happen? Any advice? Do you think it is ok? We have both been very careful in getting the doc's ready and didnt want any mistakes so I feel like I just got hit with a sledge and I am not sure if I should have her reprint and send everything again,,,, Thanks for your help!!!
Vaccinations
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

Hello all, My wife arrived here last July and we were married in Sept so I am now trying to get the AOS taken care of, when she was in Russia at her medical she did not complete the vaccinations because we are trying to have a baby and they said she shouldnt be pregnant and get the vaccinations. On the DS-3025 they checked Applicant will request a individual waiver based on religious or moral convictions. Well she isint pregnant yet and she still refuses to get the vaccinations because she is afraid if she will not be able to get pregnant and she will have to have a operation to remove a cyst from her uterus it will cause more problems. I am not sure what to do here.
