    We are both filipinos and my hubby is a US citizen.. I am currently working in Singapore as a nurse and like you, we have hopes and dreams of being together and establishing a family..     Hi Leizz, just saw your conversation with Apalis. Just curious, since you've already got your SSN, you can still apply for job without the green card right? Because during port of entry, the officer told me green card gonna take 6-10 months to arrive. Oh well. Btw, can I check my green card status on USCIS ELIS website? Thanks! I'm pretty bored at home too, don't have driver license yet, still waiting for my SSN. GOVERNMEBT shutdown sucks.

      Hi wbogard... Yes, it is written in the SSN that we are eligible to apply for work.. Your US Visa will serve as your "green card" while the card hasnt arrived in the mail yet... But dont worry... Mine took 3weeks and now its finally here.. Goodluck to your job hunting! =)

      Yeah, you can apply for job with your SSN but don't be discouraged if you can't find any. The job market is quite tough apparently.
