Thanks for everyone's responses.
I just spoke to the NVC and found out our case was complete on February 6 and we have an interview scheduled for March!
-
Thanks, Capri and Vanessa.
Tried to call the NVC but they were closed I think due to the snowstorm. I'll try again next week and find out if we need to send additional information to them or are they going to close our case and send it to Sydney for review.
I wonder how it usually works - do you need to submit more info to the NVC at this stage or will they let the consulate decide at time of the interview and still send it over now.
The other thing I forgot to mention is that our property is in Australia so at the moment the real estate market is pretty good.

we are both living in Australia. We got a proper valuation done on the property...so we can't use that? Family size is 3, and we nearly meet the income alone but added the equity with it. Should we get a supervisor review?

Hi.
we are using assets and income to meet requirement. we had a RFE asking us to complete ques 23 on i864 form. We sent it in and been reviewed. Now they sent us an email advising theconsular officer will make a decision and that we dont appear to meet requirement. However we are well over it using equity on property and savings. Should we be worried? They suggested to use a cosponsor but why would we need to if we are using savings and equity that totals more than the double amount?
Any input is appreciated! Thanks guys!

We scheduled our medical, on Wednesday last week, for Feb 19th because we are going to be in Sydney during that week. After we scheduled our medical, we got the interview email! We were already set on getting a March interview so we wanted to get our medical done before the interview. I'm going to be calling the doctor today to see if I need to reschedule the appointment since it's on the same day as our interview now!
I've read that people have had theirs done as soon as they got their case numbers and they were fine.
Thanks for the info!
Good luck on your interview keep us posted

I believe it depends on your results, but it can be either 6-12 months. I would bank on 6 months, just in case.
OK, thanks!
I wonder if most people only schedule the medical once they have the interview date lined up?
-
Just wanted to leave this update here: my husband got his interview date for Feb 19th at 11am. We got the email Saturday (Jan 25th) morning, which was still Friday in the US.
So looks like everything is still on track for the one month wait for an interview.
Have you called the NVC lately? Are there any updates on your case?
That's great! Congrats! Must be a big relief now that there's an interview date in place
Yes, it has been reviewed and we needed to re-submit the i-864 as one of the questions was left blank (#23) even though we're using assets and savings to meet the income requirement. We sent it via Express Post so it should get there in a couple of days. Oh well... can't sweat the little things. I hope we can still get a case complete soon and get an interview date before the end of March.

Hi All,
Does anyone know when the medical expires for a IR visa? is it best to wait till the case is received at the consulate before making a medical appointment just in case there are delays once case is complete? or wait till we have an interview date first and then make an appointment?
thanks, everyone!

Congrats! Big relief!

Sorry guys, not sure what happened there. Had some issues with the browser.
Thanks for your input - will keep calling them. Hopefully I hear back from a Supervisor anyways
-
Thanks! Trying to stay positive!:-)
Great to hear re your cc!
I sent the AOS form a few days before the DS-230. Hopefully they just crossed in the mail.

Thanks, Saylin. That gives me more hope. you are an expert!:-)
my comments are doubling up...woah!

Hi Guys,
Sorry, need to vent. We got a checklist via email stating they have reviewed the DS-230 form and that the AOS form has not been received.
We sent both around the same time, and have had it confirmed as delivered.
When I called yesterday they advised me that they are reviewing the "forms" and when I called now they are stating the AOS form is probably in the mailroom... Funny, I spoke to the same guy. Can this be right? I left a request for a supervisor to call me back since I don't believe what I was misinformed on the phone yesterday. It's been about 10 business days and no case complete. Argh...

Could you guys clarify how long the medical is good for?
If you don't have your interview date scheduled yet, and you get a medical tomorrow, for example, is the medical going to expire 6 months from tomorrow?
Thanks, guys.
Sorry, Just found my answer in the embassy website...

Oh, that's a big relief to hear! My husband's case was completed on Dec 27th, and we are still waiting on an interview date. My own visa (Work and Holiday) expires on Feb 22nd, so I'm going to have to leave before he has his interview.
When did you send in your AOS and DS-230? >_> I probably should read your timeline. I will do that once I post this. Lol
It's ok - end of Dec and second week in Jan. Sorry to hear you'll be away from the hubby. That's tough Hopefully you won't be apart for too long. Good luck with your journey!

Oh that really sucks. How long have you been waiting for an interview?
I found out earlier that apparently there was a bit of confusion with the dates, so it looks like it's a 1-2 month wait or so after the case is complete.
My case is pending to be case complete.
Good luck!
-
They are being delayed? Did they email you this?
\
I didn't hear from them directly... just saw someone else on here that just got their interview date for May, so got worried.
-
Hi everyone!
Anyone on this forum who has has a IR/CR case closed at the NVC been advised of their interview dates being delayed in Sydney? Trying to find out if Sydney is only doing interviews for dates in May and onwards for everyone.
Thanks, and good luck to everyone on their cases!
-
Yeah, the reps all have these standard time frames for everything, but they're always way longer than what they actually are.
The reps can tell you when your case is complete though. Not sure where you read that as that's not true.
Thanks, Saylin!
Not sure where I read it...maybe misread? In any event I'm hopeful we'll get a case closed. Patience helps...phew!
-
Sounds hopeful! Let's keep our fingers crossed for all of us waiting
-
Call every single day to find out your status. You should hear something within 2 weeks of your packages being reviewed.
Thanks a lot, Saylin!
That's what I thought... the NVC rep wasn't too helpful and I figured they're just "reading" a line. I read on here that they don't tell you when the case is complete yet some people receive correspondence from them stating that it is complete. I guess I'll just keep calling
