  1. Hi,

I am counting down days to becoming a US citizen. I would like to file for GC for my parents soonafter. They have 10 year tourist visa and have visited US a few times before. I would really like them to be here in the US for their biometrics and interview since I can assist them with the process, rather than making them figure things out back in India.

Will it be wise to apply for GC while they are still in India, but bring them over to US a few months later on their tourist visa?

Your parents can apply of adjustment of status when they get here in the US thats one of the options.

  2. I used to have a J1 visa not subject to 212e now a USC. My advise to you is do not go home. You and your wife should apply adjustment of status the I-485 and together with I-130. The process is easier and faster if you have all the necessary documents. I got my conditional green card in the mail within 5 months after filing for adjustment of status. Please let me know if you more informations. I am willing to help you walk through the process. As I have done it already.

Im a j1 visa holder (not subjected to 2 year rule) and i just got married recently with my girlfriend and we found out that we are going to be a proud parents in 8 months.

Here's the thing, my visa is going to be expired this december and i have to go back to my country for my graduation.

    Question:

    A. What is the very first step in the paperwork process?

    B. will i be able to go home while im still filling my paper work?

Me and my wife really needs help.

    Thank you.

MADE SOME corrections not I864 but I meant to say I485 and I130.
