1)You get Accordion/ Harmonium type of file folders in Walmart ranging from $3- $15. They're really easy when it comes to organizing stuff ( and pulling out papers like a wizard without fumbling at the interview when your Officer needs them.) Each flap can be labeled as originals/copies/joint evidence/extras etc.
2) Second option is to get a Ring Binder file ($2-$3) with plastic sheet protectors. The sheet protectors are like empty plastic sheets( which can hold several sheets of paper, already pre-punched) Just slide them into binder; you'll have a natural compartment. Tab dividers are another way of compartmentalizing stuff.
In my case, I got both of the above and what a relief it was! I was going crazy the day before our interview; I would have gone mental, if not for these few things that my Husband suggested.
How I organized my file:
Accordion file: (Originals file)
- All the correspondence with USCIS, Originals,Primary IDs in one
- All I20s/EAD etc in the next
- Proof of co-mingling of assets in the 3-5th flap(lease, car title, insurance bank statement)
- Joint purchases, Hotel receipts, Travel itinerary s, gifts, random mail in our names, other bills in the next one.
- Emails/fb printouts, congratulatory mails, misc in the next one
- Last one I added extras.
Ring Binder file with sheet protectors(Copy file)
This one had 2 copies of everything in the same order as the accordion file.
I also had additional 2 binder files worth of additional evidence and 300 photos. Also, I carried all of these things in a huge rectangular bag so I could quickly locate stuff. The IO was royally overwhelmed, but I felt really prepared and ready. Although, at the interview the husband looked like he could use some serious help maneuvering all that stuff. Whenever the IO asked for a document, my husband would look at me in a clueless manner, unsuccessfully search and then hand over the whole file to me
Wish you all the best for your interview!
Stay calm and smile throughout. Sending you my prayers.
thank you so much for the best wishes....

I took along my expired old passport that had the visa in it (and I-94) and I took my new passport as well that had nothing in it. IO looked at my visa in my old passport and never even asked if I have any new ones that hasn't expired yet or anything...and I did not get any stamp neither into the new passport, nor the old passport...and in terms of applying for my new passport (but as Brother Hesekiel says, this varies by countries) I just needed my nationality's governmental ID. Good luck!
Hello,
Since you have just completed the interview not long ago, you probably remember of the tax return requirements. I have gotten my Interview appoitment letter which says they need" Federal Income Tax returns and W-2's or certified IRS printouts." Which one you really need it to show for them??? When I file in December 2012, I have sent my husband 2011 year online (Turbotax) Federal taxreturn print out. They were fine with the printout without certification. The appoitment is in a month from today, dont now how gonna get them the offical certified taxreturn for sure by the appoitment. Let me know which one did you need it for your interview...I would greatly appreciate your answer.Thank you in advance

Hi there! Unfortunately we got an RFE and are waiting for documents to come in, so that might delay things, but I do have my biometrics appointment on Friday at 3. How about you?
Had my biometric appointment scheduled on Dec. 29 2012, I walked in early on Dec 18 2012. I saw my 485 application (online) process developed to the Interview phase. That part looks Ok. But I am wondering now about Issuing the Employment Card. Some people getting their cards improved in 24 days or so. There is another person called "another lost soul" here is her/his timeline
9/3/2012: AOS package sent
9/7/2012: text/email notification of NOA
9/7/2012: checks cashed
9/14/2012: Hard copies of NOAs arrived, I-797C arrived with biometrics appointment for 9/27/2012
9/27/2012: biometrics completed
9/28/2012: EAD card production ordered
10/5/2012: EAD card received in the mail
11/2/2012: electronic message at USCIS site: interview scheduled 12/3/2012 at NBC
11/3/2012: got snail mail of the interview date at my local office on 12/3/2012
12/3/2012: approved on the spot. USCIS website says "Card in production"
12/8/2012: hard copy of approval notice arrived in snail mail (both for I-130 and I-485)
12/10/2012: green card arrived in the mail....and it's green!
I guess I'm done for two years.

Yes, you should have gotten four separate letters. Maybe it got lost in the mail? What I would do is check your three confirmation numbers online and then switch the last number on the lowest confirmation number to one lower and check what comes up, and if that doesn't work, change the highest number of your confirmation number to one digit higher. If there were four letters you got four confirmation numbers and should be able to trace it. Meaning, if the last three digits of your confirmation number are 123, change it to 124. I hope you understand what I am trying to say
Hello, Wondering how is your timeline going. We were filling at the same time. Any progress since that. Did you get Employment Card Notification yet? Letme know how are you doing.

Hello,
I have filed my AOS package 3 weeks ago. I am Adjusting my Status from B-2 trough marrying US citizen. I have filled I-130,I-485,I-765 concurrent with I-131 (Advance Parole) I got email and later hard copy(NOA) conformation of the first 3 forms. I-131 and the supporting documents were the last in the package. I have not have any words of my Advance Parole Documents.First I was thinking that if I concurrently file I-765 ( as they confirmed its acceptance) than no need to confirm the Advance Parol- Travel document separately. I am keep reading other people timeline here, they talking about 4 documents confirmation. I have heard that the Advance Parol needs to be file with I-765 in order to be processed without filling fee... Any advise or suggestion what to do would be greatly appreciate....

My own consulate wanted to charge too much for birthcertificate translation... I found the most reasonable price $29 for one page, with on official certified stamp on it. ( got ready in 3 hours) Here is the website for any one who needs one http://www.ForeignDocumentTranslation.com. I got so much help on this site from other applicant, so I need to start giving back...

hello
One of my husbands divorce degrees isn't certified. Is it strictly need to be certified? Another question, I know that they really want the copy of the divorce degree and usually don't need to send the original one. Are they want the certification stamp on the back of the made copy or could it be on a separate paper stand alone? Any help would be greatly appreciate it.

I am on B-2 visa and Adjusting my Status through marrying US citizen. Wondering if I could write " Immediate relative Family based adjustment of status" to the nature of my Submission. Can anyone tell me??? Would greatly appreciate..

Hello
What is my nature of my Adjustment Status, if I am adjusting from Tourist visa through marrying a US citizen (spouse)? I am writing my cover letter and I am not clear on that. I know that my eligibility is marrying a US citizen. Please let me know if you can help with that. thanks a million.

Did you live together? A joint lease agreement or mortgage might be helpful.
I am wondering that if she need it to file G-325A forms ( 2 sets) with both I-130 Petition for A.Relative and I-485 ( adjustm of Status Doc). I am days before filing my AOS package and sort of figuring out ? I am almost send G-325 A ( 2 sets) only with I-130. Is that right that 2X2 needs to be filed?

[i am adjusting my status from( former F-1 )than B-2 last one} through marrying US citizen. Would you able to tell me that how many passport photos did you submit with each forms like I-130, I-485, G-325A, I-765, I-131( advance parole)? I have to file very soon and I am confused how many photos they required for each forms.
I know that I need it 6 from me sure. Another two from my houseband. For example I-485 needs 2 photos, G-325A two pictures ( one from beneficiary and another one from my US houseband attached) I-131 ( advance parole needs 2 photo from me) So does I-765 only need one photo ? Can anyone tell me what is the right order in photos? thank you
-
My question is related to G-325. I know that me (beneficiary) and US spouse need to fill out one for each but I am keep seeeing people saying that I-G325A FORM needs 4 copies. I dont understand why. Where the other two copies needs to be attached?
