  1. I have heard there is a site that give estimate timelines for the visa process. Can somebody help direct me to this site? I want to be able to plug in all the relevant information such as NOA1 date, service center, and VISA type, and hopefully it will give me a time estimate of the process based on others experience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ross

  2. I am writing this for a good friend.

She is a Colombian national living in Colombia. Her fiance is a US citizen and is currently really tied up with work. He applied for K1 Visa for them to be together. She speaks only a little English. They received the NOA1 back on August 15, 2012.

Like all couples, she wants this process to go as quickly as possible. She wants to prepare for the next steps. Can someone please direct her to a list of things she can do now to prepare for the second part of the process? Any references in Spanish would be even better, but English would be good too.

    Thanks in advance!

    Ross

  3. I have an update to this thread. Well, it seems that even though we could have fixed the visa application, we could not fix the damage done to the relationship. Both of us had so much invested into our future together. However, our hectic lives and the waiting game eroded that hope that we once had. We made MANY mistakes along the way, especially putting our lives on hold. I would not recommend that to anyone waiting for their spouse. While you are waiting, keep that connection strong and work on the trust, and continue living your life so that you can be healthy and positive and strong. That will keep you healthier during the waiting game. We made a final decision to to move separate ways. I really appreciate your help with this process. You win some, you lose some. Life moves on.

  4. Yay !

Double verification rocks ! (USCIS and NVC)

as for chances being slim - uh - chances for WHAT?

Burn some joss, the mail room was inept at USCIS - you got an active casefile at NVC now.

Please to read LingChe in the Wiki, tonight.

Yay! I'm trying not to get too excited though. Could you provide a link to LingChe's list. I found several NVC tips but not the one you mention. Thanks!

  5. 1. Has happened before i'm sure.

    2. Totally possible that USCIS didn't link the two cases

    3. As Darnell said, call.

    4. Not usually. What did you write on the withdrawal letter? They don't usually permit withdrawal of withdrawals. They will give your relationship more scrutiny when you proceed.

    5. Basically zero. Withdrawing before you really wanted to isn't grounds for expedite.

    6. You file another CR-1. That's about the gist of your options.

I never received any notices from them acknowledging they received the withdrawal nor anything stating the withdrawal was cancelled. Yesterday, I called the USCIS automated system and case appears to be still active. I will be getting in touch with an ISO today.

    4. The withdrawal letter simply asked to withdraw the CR1 request. It contained all case related info.

    Thanks for you reply!

  6. 1. call uscis, get an ISO person, inquire for casefile status and exact location of the casefile. do not waste time with a CSR. Plough through, till you get an ISO.

    2. call NVC, ask for casefile status.

If the casefile is indeed at NVC, then you can push on with the NVC document intake and fee payment.

Look in the wiki - use the wiki search box for 'LingChe' and follow the directions there.

Darnell, thanks for your advice. Very helpful!

  7. Hi,

I am a US Citizen. My wife is a Colombian Citizen. We married last year. I applied for CR1 to bring her to California so we could start our life together. Both our lives are very stressful and the waiting got to both of us. We fought and I thought things were over. A month and a half afterwards, we started talking again and decided to move forward with our plans of being together. However, I screwed up big time. About a week after we had our falling out, I wrote a letter to USCIS withdrawing my request for a CR1. I know that was very stupid, nobody needs to beat me up. I'm beating myself up pretty good and we both are paying for it. About a week after submitted the withdrawal letter I received a notification that my case was forwarded to the NVC and that I needed to do some things to continue the process.

Anyways, I just want to throw my situation out there to see if anybody has any ideas on how to help me.

    What are my options?

I have a lot of questions going through my mind and I'm desperate to fix this situation.

Maybe the withdrawal letter was lost in the mail?

    Maybe USCIS never received it?

How do I check the status of my case? Still active? Withdrawn?

Is there a way to cancel the withdrawal?

If I can't cancel the withdrawal, what are my chances of expediting a new case?

Is there any other way I can bring her to be with me? (if we have to start CR1 over again)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Respectfully,

    Ross
