  1. Hello everyone,

I received notice for the oath ceremony today in Las Vegas. However, when I showed up, my name and A number were not on USCIS list of people receiving certificates today. It was very heartbreaking and shocking and confusing :( I asked the officer and he told me there was something going on with ELIS blah blah and the computer system. He told me to wait for another notice.... Has anyone ever experienced this before? what was your solution and how did your case get resolved? Thank you very much!

  2. Can someone please add me to the list please?

    VJ name: lojanguyen

    California Service Center

    Noa 1: 10/20/2014

    Noa 2 (biometric): 10/24/2014

    Biometric: 11/14/2014

I also have a question that hopefully someone knowledgeable can help me answer: every time I try to check my casẽ online, it says it cannot recognize my receipt number. I tried to use the automated phone number but it also had the same problem. However when I used the 'submit an inquiry' online tool with my receipt number, it says my case is within normal processing time. I'm so confused, and hope someone may be able to answer it.

Thank you very much and good luck to all of us :-)

  3. Greetings fellow VJs,

I have a question regarding Selective Service: So I just received my GC after AOS through marriage from F1 student, and I am turning 25 next year. I just read that Men, 18 to 25, with permanent resident status, must register for Selective Service; however, the I-485 form says that my info will be automatically transferred from USCIS to Selective Service. So, do I need to register for SS again, since this is important for Naturalization application later on?

Hopefully this topic is in the right forum and someone will answer my question.

    Thank you very much!

  4. Greetings Sept Filers,

I'm excited to see the update for my case today:

    Card/ Document Production

On December 12, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Yay Yay  Now just have to wait for when USPS has it picked up and delivered.

Best luck to all still waiting

  5. i have a question... did the IO take your EAD and I94? Mine did at the end of the interview and i have no idea how to apply for SSN since I would nt have any document to prove other than the GC? does anyone know?

Hey mezamo, the IO took my I94. I didn't apply for EAD, and I already have SSN when I worked on campus a while ago. I guess you can use GC to apply for SSN :D

Best luck to you, GreenTrain :D

  6. Just got approved today. Here's the details:

The last processing action taken on your case

    Receipt Number:xxxxx

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

    Your Case Status: Decision

On December 7, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before receiving your card, please call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision.

Good luck to anyone else :-D

  7. Hello to all :D

Sorry for the late update. Got busy with my term paper all day yesterday until today. So we had the interview yesterday morning, didn't get asked for pictures or anything, since the IO asked when and how long we had known each other, and we told where we met and went to the the same undergrad schools for 5 years. He just questioned our financial a bit, since both of us are still going to school without work right now, me to grad school and wife to dental school. So he did some questions and answers on a sheet of paper.

The IO was a middle-aged black man, kinda not so fun to work with because he told us he had a tough time interviewing some couple before us, so....you all know the feelings lol. Anyway he took my I-94 and told us to wait for further review, though he told me he could approve my case but need further review. The interview was like 15-20 minutes without any hard times for us. That's all :D

Now we're just praying for God's blessings with the best result we deserve after all the hard work.

Best luck to us all and thanks for all the blessings :D

PS: the security took away my swiss knife from my key chain

  8. ...& @LOC too:

    Hey GreenTrain,

I started a post for required documents in the "adjustment of status from work, student, tourist visa" forum, and some people who had interviews before recommended bringing all original and copied versions of whatever paperwork/evidence you submitted for each form (130, 485, 864). In short, better bring ALL (original and copies), and THE MORE THE BETTER. In my case, both my wife and I will also bring our school transcripts, since we attended and graduated from 2 schools together :D

I guess that's all. Best luck be with us! And may the blessings and prayers from our families and friends be with us too!

  9. 1. No

    2. All that stuff you mentioned should more or less cover it.

    3. Couldn't hurt but probably not necessary. Just remember to bring the copy on the off chance they ask to actually see something.

For my wife's interview, we brought all that stuff except the duplicates of the financial stuff and the I-693 stuff and the only thing they asked to see was her passport so they could stamp it.

That's nice! I wish they only asked for my passport too. :) Although this will be interesting because my passport expired in the meantime and I just got my new one...are they going to stamp the old one which has the visa in it, or the new one which is completely empty? o.O

Congratulations to your wife! :) And thanks for your response as I was curious to hear the response on the OP's question. :)

Thanks SBB and congrats to your wife!

AnotherLostSoul: I have 2 passports at the moment: my old one has the visa and I-94 and it expired 2-3 years ago, and my new one, applied here through my country's consulate, has nothing in it. I use both of them for whatever paperwork related to USCIS (school, AOS) and none of them has posed any problems for me :D

Best luck to both of us :D

  10. Hello all Sept filers,

Time sure flies by too slowly for this whole process, especially after receiving REF, but in the end we got NOA for interview on Dec 4th at 9:15 AM in San Jose. I noticed some of us have interviews on that day; interesting and may all the prayers and blessings from our families and friends be with us! :D

By the way, does anyone have "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status" and "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application. Otherwise, we may keep your originals for our records" for required documents? I wonder what those are. Anyone's idea would be helpful and greatly appreciated!

    Time to gather evidences!

PS: anyone having interviews in San Jose?

  11. Hello everyone,

First of all, after about 33-34 days after Response Review for RFE for my wife's scholarship as earning and my aunt's tax documents as co-sponsor, we finally got NOA for interview on Dec 4 at 9:15 AM. Yayyy!

Secondly, I would like to ask some questions:

    1. Has anyone had experience with San Jose USCIS office?

    2. The NOA requires me to bring all documentation establishing my eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status. I wonder what that means. Aren't our Marriage Certificate, and probably school transcripts (for legal reasons for residing in US)?

    3. Then NOA also requires original and copy of each supporting document that I submitted with my application, so are those ALL of the evidences such as my passports, bank statements, lease, tax papers, etc?

Those are my confusions so far, so I would like to appreciate everyone's input.

    VisaJourney FTW!

  12. Hi all,

We got married on 07/26 (wife's birthday after 5 years of going to the same schools and dating)

Sent the whole package (130,485,693,864, no EAD or AP; We prefer going to school to working) on 08/28.

    NOA1 received on 09/01.

    Fingerprint Notice received on 09/05

Received RFE regarding wife's income from scholarships and aunt's tax documents (I was dumb to have sent insufficient papers)on 09/13

    REF sent on 09/24

    FP on 09/25

    RFE delivered on 09/26

    RFE Response Review on 09/27

10/10: 14 days into the waiting game because of the RFE...

    ...Counting the days...
