  1. Bottom line, don't rely on their system. Try to take ownership of your own case.

I think you need to correct it with both the NVC and the consulate. If they both obtained a wrong copy, and only one side gets fixed, there's a discrepancy that may cause you further trouble. So call NVC and consulate and make sure they both change to correct DOB and they have consistent records on your case.

I hv sent email to nvc inquiry yesterday morning n asked them to send me the my letter again with correct d.o.b .. I m so worried n waiting for reply .. I am so shocked that they hv my original documents which clearly shows my d.o.b so y they mentioned it wrong .. Help me guide me plz ???

  3. We're on the same boat. I guess it also depends on which consulate you'll have the interview. Even though VB is the same accross worldwide, a consulate with 3 or 4 cases every month could be a entirely different story from Guangzhou. Chance is Guangzhou would need more time to arrange 2,000 cases coming in every month.

Good news is you are getting there. No matter when they send you the email, you'll have the same interview date. Good luck!

Why is everyone else getting the interview date when they call NVC!???!!

I called 3 times yesterday same answer!

    ....frustrating...

  4. It would be such a great thing to hear, Ljmp_10, if today is a different date. Can I believe on this?

It's totally cool to have April fool jokes, but if this one turns out to be one of the jokes, that would really break my heart~~~

Guys! You will not believe this! I called again. And this lady was so very nice. She gave a schedule. Its on the 13th of May 2013! OMG! I bet you will all believe me! RitzF2A call again!!!!!!! Yahooooooo!!!!

  5. I bet the next VB will move at least 4 weeks. According to the monthly trend published by USCIS, the monthly capacity of consulates is around 20,000 cases. Since the major upstream is between Oct 10 2010 and Dec 10 2010 given about 60,000 cases, the next two months only have 36,000 petitions in total. So it makes perfect sense to expect a faster move.

Dec, Jan and Feb, let's keep our finger crossed and spirit up!

  6. I think the payments they collected from us should cover all expenses of the entire process. There is no reason to delay immigration process even though there's spending cut, give it's a self-funded program.

I hope the automatic spending cuts that are going to kick in on March 1st won't affect the consular processing....

  7. I'm sure you will get the I/L in the coming few days. Keep us posted!

    God bless us!

It has been a quite month since I started watching predictions...

Guys, don't forget to update the status.

I called multiple times this week- All I heard was NVC processing 22 OCT 2010- that I understand the PD for Feb 2013. But when I tried to explain that NVC sends I/Ls a month before the interview but the Customer Service keep telling me there is no such specific criteria exists within NVC. It all depends on US consulates abroad.

Anyway, I've waited 2.5 years but have to wait for another week or two to see any progress.

  8. I definitely think your wife would need to get a certificate from China because I came across very similar situation when I applied for my greencard 3 years ago. I did my undergrad in Canada for two years and a half and NVC asked for a police record at and it cost me painful time to get it finalized. According to NVC, if the applicant stayed in a foreign place for more than 6 months, he/she needs to get a non-criminal record certificate.

I'm a Chinese citizen but to be honest I'm not 100% sure either. It really depends on where your wife stayed since different local police bureaus have different interpretations and processes. If your wife could physically be in China, I would suggest her contact the school and get a certificate from school's security dept. Then bring that piece of paper to local public notary office and they'll help you from there. Most public notary offices provide English service. If you cannot not make a physical presence, a lawyer might be a better option because not a lot of agencies handle this kind of business, at least not I'm aware of.

No matter which way you choose, local police or Chinese consulate won't be a great place to contact because 99% they would tell you they don't have your records. Try to speak to a public notary office. They are the ones most familiar with this kind of cases because every piece of paper goes to NVC will pass their hands.

Hope it helps and good luck!

Hi, I am not sure if this is a new topic. I'm an American and my wife is Russian. We live overseas right now. We plan to move back to the US before the end of this year. I submitted I-130 for her last November and it's been approved earlier this month and now the files have been forwarded to the Dept. of State. I just have a question regarding getting police certificates of no criminal record.

I understand that one MUST get the police certificates of no criminal record from all countries one has lived for more than a year since the age of 16. So my wife needs one from Russia and another from Singapore (where we live now). These can be easily obtained. But she has also studied and worked in China for almost two years and hence would seem to need a certificate from China as well.

My question is does the Dept. of State really care in this situation about getting this certificate from China when/before my wife goes for the visa interview? Has anyone been in a similar situation? I mean, she is not a Chinese national and was there not for a terribly long time. From what I understand, one (or at least one's agent) must go to the place where one lived in China to obtain this certificate. The Chinese Embassy here seems to be unwilling/unable to help. It's hardly a convenient thing to deal with the authorities in China and neither of us really wants to spend the time and money to go there just to get a piece of paper.

In there is no way around this, does anyone know a reliable agent in China (or elsewhere) that can help with getting this certificate from the Chinese police?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. 4-5 is not bad. But 3 is bad...

My husband's PD is Feb 18. If turns out to be 4, 4, 3 for the next three months. We are toasted for one more month :crying:

    God bless all of us!

    D. VISA AVAILABILITY IN THE COMING MONTHS (April – June)

    FAMILY-sponsored categories (potential monthly movement)

    Worldwide dates:

    F1: Three or four weeks

    F2A: Three to five weeks

    F2B: Three to five weeks

    F3: One or two weeks

    F4: Up to two weeks

    NOT BAD !

  10. The dates have clearly retrogressed or stalled. We were supposed to get an interview in March in Mumbai consulate since our PD is 03-NOV-10 and we do not see our case number on the schedule!!

    This is ridiculous!??

    THE DATES ARE STUCK!

I'm so sorry to hear that. But it looks as if there's case number BMB2011576015. That's like a 2011 case. Hope that interview list is incomplete and you'll get your I/L in this week!

  11. Darnell, this is great information. I appreciate that.

One last question. So when you turned in your three copies, did the IRS clerk give you a tax-payer ID for the spouse immediately? Or had to wait for a response from ITIN in Austin to get that?

The timing here is critical to me cz not only I need to get the state tax done as well, but also my husband interview date is approaching...

    Thanks!

have your tax return prepped and the w-7 stuff together. Make 3 copies. Walk it into the IRS office closest to you, have all 3 sets stamped.

    1. give over a set to the IRS clerk - who will in turn forward it all to the IRS ITIN unit in Austin TX.

    2. keep a set and scan it - if you wish to you NVC Electronic Processing.

    3. send off a set to yer spouse (or keep it, send spouse copies)

    Good Luck !

the above was the answer to 'I need speed with showing my tax stuff'

Yup, My wife and I did it . use advanced search tool here. Search term = 'Chengdu' . UserName = 'Darnell'. Click on 'Show as posts'.

  12. Guys, I'm a petitioner. I'm with you about the idea of filing jointly. But I got a couple of practical questions underneath and would really appreciate if any of you could answer (especially the petitioner)

    1. Does the interviewee need to turn in both the federal and state tax return during the interview? Or just the federal tax return will work?

    2. I talked to my accountant last year but she wouldn't do a W-7. In other words, in order to get a temp tax payer ID, I gotta file the tax return on my own.

    3. Say I'm going to work out my 2012 tax return. The first step is I need to file a paper return with W-7 and mail the package to IRS. According to IRS website, the processing time generally takes about 10 weeks. That is if I submit my tax return by the end of Feb 1, I should expect a response from IRS in the middle of April. But that's almost the deadline of 2012 tax return. Not to mention that I need the temporary tax payer ID from IRS to file my state tax return, which is due on the same day Apr 15.

    4. Married and filed separately is not an option either, because both IRS and State Gov still need the non-resident spouse's tax ID in this case. So it look as if the tax-payer ID is the key question, when IRS could give me this number based on the W-7 I submitted. That's real issue.

To be honest, I like this idea a lot but I just don't think it's practically feasible. Was anyone able to walk through the entire process in 2011? I would love to learn more about it. Otherwise, I guess writing a letter to the consulate on why I select to file as single would probably be a better idea.
