  1. Hi, I got my K1 visa approval in September and crossed the border into the US. I got married and am now filling out the forms for the green card and making sure I have everything. I was wondering if I need everything on this list below, or if there are things I don't need because they already got that with the KI???

    I-485 (I HAVE THIS)

2 passport photographs (I HAVE THIS)

    I-765 (I HAVE THIS)

    I-131 (I HAVE THIS)

G 325A (DO I NEED THIS AGAIN?) (already submitted one with k1)

I-693 (Already had my medical exam in Ontario Canada a couple of months ago, and they have that form).

Vaccination documentation worksheet from the medical (I HAVE THIS)

Copy of birth certificate (I HAVE THIS)

Copy of the visa page that the border pasted in my passport (I HAVE THIS)

copy of the I-94 that was stapled in my passport (I HAVE THIS)

I-864 affidavit of support (DO I NEED THIS AGAIN?)(we did one with the K1?)

G-1145 for email notification (I HAVE THIS)

Our marriage certificate (I HAVE THIS)

I-797 notice of action (I HAVE THIS)

Check made out to them (I HAVE THIS)

And.....is there anything else I need to know or send???

    Thank you very much

  2. I wrote this question already, but it locked up on me, so I will try again.

Im wondering if anyone can help me with this form, with part 2 the application type. I am sending in the I 485, the I 765 and the I 131 all at the same time. What I would like to do is be able to go back to Ontario Canada in the summer to see my sons graduation and visit my parents and Im not sure how long the green card will take. Im not sure if I check off 1a or 1d??

Im also wondering if I will have a problem leaving the US for a few day visit and then returning to the US?? Or are there reasons people aren't allowed back in?? I am married to an american and living in the US, I just miss my family and missing my sons graduation would be the saddest moment for him and me.

Thanks for all of your help with the form and my question.

  3. We got my social insurance card with my old name, got married and went back to get my new name changed. They said I need to change my name first at immigration. We don't understand or know where to go, we get passed around. Where do we change my last name so we can move on to getting the new ssn the green card and ead? Thank you.

  4. My k1 and all my paperwork say Karin S.... My now social security card says Karin S..... My marriage license says Allen O and Karin S...... I can't file anything as Karin O.... Until I legally change my name. Where do I do that? I have nothing that says I am Karin O.... Other than my husbands name. So far no one tells us where to go. We can't file for a green card or ead under Karin O.... Because I need a ssn with that name, and they won't change it till then. So I'm still confused where to change it.?

  5. We were so excited to get my visa, we crossed the border of Ontario Canada and drove to Wyoming together. We went in to the social security office and started the process, they said in 10 days I will get a card with my last name on it and could change it to my husbands name after. We looked up on the visa flowchart what we do after we get married, and it says to go back there with the marriage license. We did that, but were told that we need to change my last name first at immigration in order to get a social security card with my new name on. The court office says to go to social security, social security says immigration, we don't know how to change my name to his. We are in cheyenne Wyoming, where do we go, what do we need, and do I change my name before the green card or after? Please would someone be able to walk me through this, I'm so confused.

  6. Hi

I was wondering who out there has crossed the border with a k1 visa from Ontario Canada to Michigan or New York state?? I wanted to know what others went through, the procedure and how long it took to cross? I'm nervous because we were stopped at the border a year ago because we didn't know that I needed a fiancé visa first. What should we expect when we drive up to the border?? Thank you.

  7. DS-160 says that its for a non-immigrant visa and DS-260 says its for an immigrant visa. I'm really confused because different web sties give me different answers. I am Canadian and the fiancé of an American, and my visa type is a K1. We are not married yet....and I am in the process of putting packet 3 together. I filled the DS-160 already and not sure what to do about the DS-260 now. Thank you for any information!!!!

  8. I don't understand what the DS 160 form is?? I'm assuming its a form I have to fill out and send in with my packet 3, but it seems like something I have to do online and I don't understand how to fill it out or how I send it in?? Could someone please help me with that, possibly where to get it and how to do it?? Thank you!!!

  10. My fiancé Allen lives in Wyoming and I live in Ontario, Canada. We are applying for a visa for me to go and live with him in Wyoming. When my fiancé filed the petition I was living in my home until it sold. When it sold, I moved to another place and told the post office to reroute my mail there. Now, I found out that the rental place is selling and I will have to move again, and again have my mail rerouted to another address.

My question is.....immigration knows my address where I was, but doesn't know my address where I am now, and if the visa doesn't come in soon, they don't know the address where I will be. Is letting the post office reroute my mail enough?? Or is there somewhere I can contact to let immigration know where I am, and then call them again to let them know where I will be??

I hope this is detailed enough. People have told me to change the address on line, but the change of address form is only for Americans, and also for when I move there to change my address.

Also, does a FedEx, or UPS truck deliver the forms from immigration, or does it come through the mail?? I'm not at the address that they know, and I am so afraid of it being sent back....I've already waited 7 months. Please, any answers would be helpful. Thank you. Karin
