19 months & still waiting

Placed in a second AP (aka: black hole)

My fiancé & I haven't been able to see each other since March 2012

mahmoud-82 --- I understand the confusion!! We are always told one thing and another thing happens. I'm sorry u r missing the feast & celebration.... It's good that ur status at least changed from AP to Issued. No one else has indicated this has happened to them. But there are quite a few of us in the same boat. So, I'm sure someone will come along & be able to shed light on ur situation.

Maybe all if us will start seeing movement after the week long holiday.

I know there will b good news soon for us

....but emailing the embassy is pointless cause our status still shows AP - even though that's not our current status. So all they do is look up our case and we get a generic email that our case is in AP.

Pathetic!!

Our hands are tied. There's nothing at all we can do but wait. And my congressman was NO help either.

That's what makes this so frustrating.

We were Lied to about the final processing time & we can't even get a valid update

Sam-- soooo sry!! AP is a tortuous nightmare, we know! And there's nothing we can do because it's all about security checks. Which I agree with but it still sux soooo bad!

It is refreshing to see that it's not just our case that's sitting still like this......why is this taking soooo long?? Yeah, we called the embassy, they refuse to tty....so we sent the email & we got the same 'ol generic reply....blah blah ur in ap.

we see that online....I don't want to be told that & that's not my question. We were told we r not in ap. sooooo, how much longer b4 the visa is sent?

If they would tell us this last step takes 2-3 months, then we wouldn't be so crazy. We would expect this. Instead, the Only honest time frame that was given is the process time for the NVC to the embassy.

Is there anybody out there that was in this situation & u finally rcvd ur visa? Please shed some light on our dark dark tunnel.

PS: there's a forum 1-2 pages over that talks about how to do the DHL tracking from NVC to Embassy....

There is a DHL trick to enter ur ref #. I can't remember the pattern....I'm sure someone will come behind me to tell u.

But what I want to say is, it ships from NVC to the embassy Very quickly. Our case is in Cairo. The Cairo embassy shipped packet 3 Very quickly to my fiancé after they rcvd the NVC DHL with our case.

Basically, we rcvd packet 3 in about a wk & half after the NVC sent ur case out.

Hey guys....anyone out there that recently got approved from AP? Are u still waiting on ur Visa?

Cairo embassy called my fiancé on August 21, 2013. Told him congratulations, your AP is over & you've been approved. We just need u to retake ur TB exam b/c it expired. So, they sent him his passport...he got the TB, finally got the results and mailed them back with his passport.

They rcvd it all back on Sept. 2. Case updated but still shows AP status. Then updated both dates to Sept. 12 - but still shows AP. No other updates since then.

He still doesn't have his Visa.

They told him he'd have it in 10-15 days after they rcvd his TB & passport.

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Egypt - AP was told approved at the interview with 1-2 months of ap (aka: the black hole). AP lasted 4 mo. 2 weeks. My fiancé rcvd a call from the embassy today!!! IT'S OVER --- APPROVED!! OMG APPROVED!!!

His TB test expired. So they'll send him his passport to go take it again. Then he'll send the results and his passport back to the embassy & they'll send it back WITH THE VISA STAMP within 10-15 days -- he'll have it!!

You guys this has been a draining and very stressful journey!! We've been on the journey for 1 year & 3 months. You can't get any real answers along the way. Especially in AP bc it's security checks (most commonly).

But don't give up!!!! Don't give up!!!! Things are happening behind the scenes. We just can't see it.

We have our good days & our bad days, without a doubt. But in the end, it all smoothes out.

Now....the storm is over!! So thankful the AP is over!!!

AP is Administrative Processing.

In Cairo it occurs usually after the interview and affects a majority of males. It can last 2 weeks to 2 years. You must wait for your visa to be issued. They perform the FBI background investigation or document verification.

Some people say 99% of males go thru AP after the interview. I believe it is about 67% based on VJ statistics

Here is a list for the last year or so of interviews for spouse visas in Cairo andhowlong it took to get the visa after the interview.

I do not know how long fiance visas take but it seems it takes much less time since the fiance will not be working in the USA upon arrival so his background checks will be done during AOS after marriage.

I understand why cases go thru RFE's...but why do soooooo many cases at this embassy go thru AP?????

Are there others still waiting for VSC NOA2 from the beginning of May?

Is this unusual that we are still waiting?

We just rcvd our NOA2 Today. Our NOA1 is May 15, 2012. To be honest...the last I heard, Vermont SC has been getting help so this could have caused cases to get out of order, unfortunately! JE has ppl around her that have the same NOA1 date and they have been approved. We have ppl around us that rcvd their NOA1 May 15 that rcvd their NOA2 on the 6th of November. Something is DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT! If there have not been 'any' updated on your date - try to call the USCIS to inquire why ppl are being approved all around you - including ppl that were received 'after' you and see if they can provide you an answer as to why or even better...a resolution! PS: It seems the 1-800 customer svs line does not offer the best assistance...see if you can get in to your local office to inquire in person. Good Luck!

You can call them after 2 weeks, when u call them ask them if they have receive your petition from vermont or cali , and than ask them for case number and also if they have sent it out to embassy yet.

Does anyone know how long the NVC holds onto the NOA2 before they send it to the embassy? What do they do with it, exactly? Are they just the routing point to get it to the correct embassy?

i have applied for K1 using a lawyer and my understanding is that he send the information without a letter of intent. I was never asked to write one nor my fiancee. I was wondering if this is going to be an issue. Should i address it to my lawyer? I was hoping he knows what is required and what is not not. that might be reason why he never asked for one. Please advise

Attorney's are not cheap! Make them work! They work for us, remember... Honestly, it's clear that it is required. Give your attorney a call and ask about this and how they can correct "their" error. Let them know that you see it in the instructions as a requirement. Tomorrow is a business day...I would contact them first thing. Let us know how it goes

But also....I agree with another comment that was made...in the event that you are not able to send it in until you rcv an RFE, make sure you have it ready & tell your attorney that you guys need that document as soon as possible so you can send it asap when you get the RFE. Remember...make 'them' work for your money. You hired them to stream-line your process so things like this do not happen.

Don't stress though...this will not cause a denial...only a RFE.
