I received the hard copy living abroad, it took a little over a month. However it did not contain the a-number. Idk if that's common or not.
-
I finally paid both fees!
but while filling out the I-864 i noticed the A-number box, on my NOA2 hardcopy it didn't come with an A-number anywhere. Should I just leave it blank?
-
It's should be there. Look above or below where reads petitioner's name at.
I know it should....:/ but it's not. I literally spent 15 min looking all over it.
-
Hey I was wondering if it is essential to put the beneficiary's A-number on the I-864 form, because my NOA2 hardcopy does not include an a-number and I don't know of another way to find it out. Thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds more like an error on their end, not yours. Did you try on a different computer?
P.S. Always stick with IE for government websites.
I haven't tried it on a different computer yet...but i will tomorrow..
I hate random problems..... anyways could you pretty please add me to the spreadsheet?

Hey guys, I got both of my bills invoiced but when I try to login into the Fee payment part it says "Database Error" on Google Chrome and "Session Timed Out" on internet explorer. It's been a while since I filled out the ds-261 (Feb. 28th). I just thought this error would go away after a few days but it doesn't look like it. btw it's not the "Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time…" or "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted…" or "You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."), error. What do I do???
-
I think I might have the same problem. I too received the fee bill invoice, but when I go online to pay it all I get is a Database error. It's been happening for about a week now....

This is a response I received from my attorney the other day on facebook. I was asking about the processing of cases during this Reform garbage going on... I made a comment about the illegals being able to stay here while we all have to wait for our spouses to be able to enter legally. SEE BELOW
Hi, Jen, they have been processing I-130s the whole time. Processing times have been holding steady at 4-6 months for more than 6 years, new law or no. It has no effect. And please don't use the word "illegals". That's not a fair word to describe a person who is undocumented. Some people like to use "New American," others are fine with "undocumented immigrant." But I would just ask for folks to use a word that would not denigrate someone's husband, wife, parent, or child. Words matter
One this that bothers me is they are illegal. Its not like making a racial comment. Its just stating their status. Like calling them a resident instead of a citizen ( In my opinion anyway )
How could they be a "New American" if they aren't american citizens yet...smh

So, I was wondering what this is supposed to mean: (I realize that not everything the gov says is transmitted clearly..well hardly anything
Is There a Fee to Review the Affidavit of Support at a U.S. embassy or Consulate Abroad? No, when the I-130 and subsequent Affidavit of Support (AOS) form is filed outside the U.S. a fee is not charged.http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3178.html#fee
So, does this mean since I'm living and filing abroad with my spouse, I don't need to pay an AOS fee??? I will be using a joint sponsor (my father) that lives stateside. Thanks in advance.

Ok, I have a question about the part of the g-325a question about residence for the last 5 years. I will be living abroad when I send it. So that's fine. But from dec 2009 - dec 2011 I was living in brazil as a missionary for my church. Therefore I didn't really have one address...I kept moving from place to place within the same state every few months for those 2 years.
Should I try to explain this in an seperate attachment to the g-325a? Or should I just use one of the addresses that I lived at for that 2 year span?
Thanks for the help and advice!

I had a question. I have seen that when people send the cr-1 documents in to the uscis office, sometimes they get a notification saying it has been transferred to a local office or a different office. What does this mean? Is it good or bad; or does it depend on the office? Also, is there a reason why they send certain cases to different places? Thanks!

good luck getting a tourist visa...My gf was gonna come on a tourist visa but got denied. It seems ridiculously hard to get a toursit visa in brazil unless you have a job that pays well, house, going to school, car, etc. Just warning you, If you decide to go this route there's a really good chance she will be denied if you don't have all the strong ties.
-
I'll do it if you pay me. wat say?
Depends on how much you are asking for
haha but for real though anyone ever thought of doing this?
-
So I was wondering has anyone here ever used a company to do their cr-1 visa for them? I am feeling extremely overwhelmed with the whole process...I probably won't end up paying someone though.. What are your guys opinions on this?

Once you get married you can apply for residency in Brazil and then you can find a job and work while you wait, if you choose.
Make sure that your soon to be wife goes to her cartorio and asks for a list of everything you need to marry a foreigner. She may want to go more than once. I went 3 times and got more information each time.
You will need any divorce certificates that you have and your birth certificate legalized at the Brazilian Consulate in the region that you were born/divorced. I thought I could get around this because the cartorio did not say anything about legalization of documents, but when you go to the Distribuidor they require it.
Good luck!
And if I apply for residency there I can stay and wait there longer?? and also are there certain requirements to be approved for residency there?

You cannot file anything to start a spouse visa process until you have a spouse. You can get prepared but not file.
Your first question asked about your visa to visit Brazil. The visa will have an expiration date and an allowed length of stay for each visit. The expiration date is the last day you can use the visa to enter Brazil. If your visa is for a single entry, you'll need a new one to enter again. If your visa allows multiple entries, you can use it again and stay as long as they allow when you enter. Does your visa indicate it's multiple entry? What's the maximum stay you can be granted?
I'll add also that lately, petitions filed from abroad don't seem to be automatically expedited anymore, at least not consistently.
The visa is good for 10 years. It's multiple entry for 90 days at a time. up to 180 days per 12 month period. So I'm planning on going for up to that 90 day period then asking for an extension. But since I've already been there for a month this year I'll only have 5 months left on it. Correct? Thanks for the info!
-
1) I don't know exactly, but that's what I've been told. You have multiple entries but you can't stay over 6 months in an 12-months period.
2) If you do get auto-expedited you can get everything approved during your legal stay. My wife and I started the process in July 18 and our interview in on November 30, we're planning to leave on December 11, this gives us about 5 months overall. And we had a couple of RFE that could've been avoided.
Awesome! Getting married down there takes about what 25 days to get everything all set up? I understand it varies from cartorio to cartorio..but if it takes one month to get married, I'll only have 4 months left on my visa..Is there some way to get it extended so i can stay for the rest of the time waiting for the cr-1 with her?
-
thanks again for the responses..
Do I need to start mailing anything here in the U.S. before I go down there?
Here's an odd and probably dumb question but on sending the I-130 form, I have to pay the $420 fee which needs to be either a check or money order. Obviously I will want to bring some checks with me down there from my bank account in the states right? Will having my name and u.s. address on the checks mess anything up, since at that time I will living and filing abroad?

So here's the deal. I'm a usc, planning on getting married to a brazilian girl in brazil in January. then applying for a cr-1 visa for her. I have a few questions..
1. I stayed in brazil for a month visiting her this last july. I know that my tourist visa is only good for 6 months. And since I was there for a month recently I only have 5 months left. Is that correct?
2. From what I've heard if the cr-1 visa gets expedited (since I am planning on living there while I file for it) it takes about 5-6 months right? In your opinions will I be able to stay there for the duration of the visa wait?
3. On this page: My link It says that countries without a USCIS public office (Brazil doesn't have one) must have the I-130 forms sent to the Chicago lockbox. Is that for all of the forms required for the cr-1? Is my regional lockbox not needed for anything then?
Thanks in advance for the advice and responses!!!

Sorry, I meant that if you get married in the US you can send all paperwork to the USCIS from the US and then come to Brazil and wait for the process with your wife down in Brazil. This way the petition will get faster to the USCIS (I used express mail from Brazil and it took about a week to get there).
But no matter the way you choose I saw people going through the USCIS stage in 60 days, that's pretty fast. I took 11 days between NOA1 and NOA2, but that was auto-expedited, we didn't request anything. Then I took 40 days to go through the NVC. We have an interview on November 30. We sent the I-130 to the USCIS on July 18.
awesome news. Hope everything goes well for you guys in the interview. I'm going to hear big news this week that could change all my plans. My gf is having her tourist visa interview this week at the consulate. If it goes well she will be able to visit me.
If not... well then plan B goes into full effect. Plan B being the moving to brazil/marriage cr-1 process.
-
So what do you mean by you can send all your documentation before you leave to Brazil? Sorry lots of questions...
anyone..??
-
If you get auto-expedited the process can take around 5 months (starting when you mail your I-130 and ending when you fly to the US), but there is no guarantee you will be auto-expedited. Make sure you include you address abroad as your current address.
Do not overstay, better to stay legally, before you visa expires you can apply for extension. So you will be able to stay 6 months . I'm pretty sure it will be enough time. You can send all your documentation from the US before you leave to Brazil.

Thanks so much for the info!
So, lets say we marry in Brazil and immediately file for the CR-1, you'd say about 5 months is the ideal situation then?
Interview in Rio and move back to the US?
Also, should I just overstay my tourist visa then and take the fine? (Only about a month or two overstay).
ditto what he asked. lol. so by extending my tourist visa, in what way is that different from filing for a temporary visa? Which takes longer?

I kinda of have the same question. My parents file joint taxes, and I put their total income on part 6. line 13.a as stated on their tax returns. But I just got a RFE saying:
