  1. Called yesterday and put in a service request. Hope to hear ANYTHING soon!

Good luck. I had somewhat believed that the congressional aide's and senatorial aide's assistance helped speed up my case. Because a few weeks after they contacted the USCIS I got the notification that my application was approved. However, when I actually got the green card, I saw that the "resident since" date on the card was even one week before I contacted my congressman and senator! So obviously it was my own phone calls to the USCIS that helped, or the USCIS employees just happened to do their job.

  2. Thank you! As for the rest of the journey, I think I should care less. What will be will be. Investing too much energy and emotion in something that is not in our own control only makes us miserable. I don't know if the congressional assistance really helped my case or the kettle just boiled when the time came. Yet, in hindsight, I think that part of the journey would have been a lot easier if I hadn't been concerned that much.

Yet, I'm very grateful to my congressman's and senators' aides, who went out of their way to help me. I'm also grateful to my Visajourney fellows, who've shared with me their experience and encouraged (or sometimes criticized) me during my seemingly endless journey, I mean the adjustment of status journey.

    Thank you all!

    Congrat ..

    How's your case, Labi?

  3. It was 6 Months from our transfer on December 6th. I contact both of my senators here in Georgia. One of them responded to me today, and they got a response from CSC that we should hear something in 45-60 days.

I hope you will, my friend. My first senator's aide contacted them on my behalf and got a response from that I should hear from them in 2 weeks. And it was like 5 weeks ago. I didn't hear from anybody. My second senator's aide contacted them again 2 weeks ago, and got an email from that I should receive a notification from them in 45 days. I hope the "notification" will not be "you should hear from us in 60 days", if I ever get a notification at all. By the way, I filed earlier than you.

    Good luck to you.

  4. Thanks for the advice.

After I enter the Zip Code it just directs me to more options, I Haven't seen an option where i can select the nearest office? I will keep trying though.

And I feel for you too You've been waiting longer than me and you've heard nothing! At least I got some news today I guess, even if it's not good news!

Oh, I see why. It directed me right to the local offices because I already filled out the other fields when I was trying to make an infopass appointment weeks ago. Keep trying!

  5. By the way, from my experience, going to the infopass appointment (at the local CIS office) was nothing but a waste of time. First, your application is not there any more, but now at California Service Center. Second, all the "information" the people at the local office have about your case you can get from the "human robots" at USCIS customer service center or by checking your own status on their website.

Maybe your best bet would be the congressman and senators. (They are always very eager to help!)

  6. Thanks guys. I have tried making an info pass appointment, but every time i try, it says there are no appointments available in your area. So I don't know what to do! Senator, Congressman maybe?

Hmm, that's weird. When you went to this site trying to schedule an infopass appointment https://infopass.uscis.gov/infopass.php did you enter the right zipcode, and did you pick the right local office?

It doesn't hurt to contact the congressman or senators. But don't put your hope too high. My AOS package was received in early April 2012 and I never got an RFE (I believe I sent in every required document); yet, my case is still pending. I called the USCIS hotline to have a service request put in, and then the following month I had the congressman's aide and then senators' aides making inquiries for me; yet, still no news from the USCIS.

Try your best and if nothing happens then at least you know you've done everything you could.

    Good luck.

  7. I was very anxious about my case after it reached the 7th month mark. Yet, now I've become numb to all emotions. I don't bother to check my status or call the USCIS any more. No worry. No disappointment. No Anger. And no confusion.

I'm not advising you not to be panicked. (After all, who am I to give you advice or judgement, right?) But, I believe, after some time, you'll come to the point where you don't care any more.

  8. After reading about Ami&Chigs's success at the CSC, I decided to write to our two senators and to file a service request about a month ago. It was in fact very fortunate that I got to talk with a tier 2 person as she happened to discover that none of the address change forms I had filed about 3 months earlier had actually made it into the USCIS computer system. So I guess it was sort of good (in a way) that they never got around to process my I-485.

Anyway, earlier this week, my case was finally touched and then transferred from the CSC to the NBC. The reason? "The record indicates that office has jurisdiction over the case". I guess it makes sense in some sort of twisted USCIS logic given that's where they're supposed to process the interview-waivable I-485 after August 1. Or something.

Time to gear up for another few months months of waiting at the NBC and prepare for refiling the EAD!

(And yes, the malfunctioning of the USCIS bureaucracy leaves me speechless. And the mere thought that I'll have to deal with them on multiple occasions over the next few years makes me want to cry. Really.)

Oh, that sounds horrible. So they transferred your case to CSC for nothing. And all the time it sat there was a total waste! I don't understand why things have to be so difficult.

  9. Mine shows the same thing too.Incomplete status online & to call the toll free number. It worked all day until this evening but i'm expecting interview notice though. After doing a lot of google search, people said they got interview notices 2-3 days after this message so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.By the way, my other two applications worked just fine except for the I-485 status update.I Will wait till monday b4 i call.

I think it had nothing to do with your case in particular, liveurlife. It was something with their whole system. My status jumped back to "Initial Review", as usual.

  10. As a matter of fact, I just checked my email and saw a new message notification, one from the USCIS!

I held my breaths for half a minute and then went to my mail box. Here's what I got:
