  1. My wife who lives near Salta Argentina has an interview in a few days in Buenos Aires, she legalized the documents in Salta ministry of exterior. The embassy sends me an email saying the documents must be legalized in Buenos Aires by the Ministry of Interior. My wife is stubbon and insists that they are correct and they must be accepted because it is an apostille stamp which is an agreement between countries by the Hague Convention. She is being stubborn and insists she is right when obviously the Embassy is telling us that it must be legalized in Buenos Aires! :help::bonk:

  2. I met my wife on Facebook, talked 9 months then I finally visited Argentina in April and we got married, She lives in a small town near Salta Argentina, 2 hours by plane from Buenos Aires. Her English isn't the best and my Spanish isn't the best but we have used google translator and have been studying. This immigration process has been very frustrating as I am doing it all myself. It looks like some of you are going through some of the same process. I am at the NVC stage, I sent in my Affidavits of Support and I am the choice of agent, and I am currently working on the Visa Applications DS-302, the civil document requirements are stressing me out. I was reading that the Marriage and Birth Certificates have to be legalized in Buenos Aires but she lives 2 hours by airplane and the mail system is unreliable, I have sent her 2 letters and she never received them. Do you have any suggestions on the quickest way to legalize the documents? She told me she already obtained the criminal record with exception to 51 requirement in Salta. Also I don't understand really understand what documents I send to the NVC and what ones she is supposed to take when she finally has her interview. This is been a confusing and frustrating process when your trying to do this all on your own. Thank you for any help or suggestions you might have. Once she gets the correct documents, what is the best way for her to send them to me? Can she scan them and I print them out or does she have to mail them to me, also Can I scan the DS-230 and have her sign it then she can scan it back to me? what a frustrating mess.

  4. I think I wasn't supposed to list my 3 year old son my wife's I-864 since he has his own I-130 petition. I have not received anything saying my wife's I-864 was incorrect only my sons. If I filled out hers wrong then why haven't I received an email telling me hers was incorrect. Im not sure what to do now. I think I just fill out an I-864 with my sons information and supporting documents again and hope they accept it this time.

  5. the additional information was requested for my son's I-864 it says missing or incomplete documents.

    1. The checklist below indicates missong or incomplete documents.

    2. You will need to complete and submit a new form completely filled out with the changes below.

    PART 1: SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

    3. The listed tax income documents for the years below are missing or incomplete. year (2011) I SENT MY 2011 TAX DOCUMENT with my wife's I-864 and she is the Principal Applicant not my 3 year old son so I thought I didn't need to send a 2011 tax income document with my son's.

    4. It says you have not enclosed and explanation why you were not required to file income taxes under Federal Tax laws for any or all of the 3 most recent years. I CLEARLY FILLED OUT THIS SECTION FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS SO THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

PART 2: INFORMATION ON THE PRINCIPAL APPLICANT

    1. This section is incomplete, please answer all the questions completely. I FILLED THIS SECTION OUT COMPLETELY BUT IT IS AN EXACT COPY OF THE I-864 I SENT FOR MY WIFE, MY SON IS LISTED IN PART 3.

2.The Biographic information provided does not match the principal applicant of the associated petition. IT IS THE SAME EXACT ADDRESS AS MY WIFE'S ADDRESS, THIS DOESN"T MAKE SENSE.

PART 3: INFORMATION ON THE IMMIGRANTS YOU ARE SPONSORING

1.This section is incomplete, please answer all the questions completely. I COMPLETELY ANSWERED IT.

    2. The number on line 10 does not equal the number of applicants listed in Parts 2 and 3. IT IS JUST MY WIFE AND SON AND THE NUMBER IS 2, THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.

    PART 5: SPONSORS HOUSEHOLD SIZE

1.The number in line 21a does not equal the number of applicants listed in part 3. IN PART 3 THE NUMBER IS 2, IN LINE 21a THE NUMBER IS 2. THIS MAKES NO SENSE.

    2. The number entered in Part 21h does not equal the sum of the numbers in lines 21a through 21g. 21A THROUGH 21G is 2 + 1, THE NUMBER ON 21H is 3, SEEMS LIKE PERFECTLY GOOD MATH TO ME, MAKES NO SENSE.

  6. I am in the NVC process and have paid my AOS and IV fees already but I recently got an email saying that additional information is required to complete the financial evidence review. I sent in 2 I-864's, first for my wife with all the supporting documents, tax returns etc. A week later I thought I was suppposed to send an I-864 for my 3 year old son also. I sent the same exact copy of the I-864 with no evidence this time because he is supposed to be linked to my wife's immigrant petition. Was I not supposed to send an I-864 for my son since he is listed on my wife's I-864? Was I not supposed to list him on my wife's I-864? Am I supposed to have 2 seperate I-864's with no mention of anyone else? I am confused, I never got any info back about my wife's I-864 I assume it was accepted. What should I do?

  7. I sent mine on the 22nd a day after I received the case number on the phone. I only received their official DS-3032 email together with the AOS bill on the 26th so I am a bit worried that they will reject the email I sent 4 days before that. The person on the phone at NVC told me that a generic email is not acceptable and that only the official DS-3032 sheet will get accepted (either scanned via email or via snail mail) - however, the story on the forums seems to speak a very different language. I am confused.

I sent my email and got a response in 11 days stating that I was now the Choice of Agent so if after 2 weeks you don't get a reply go ahead and send another email using the format on this website. It worked for me, it should work for you, best of luck.

  8. Hello, I am a little confused on a few things. 12 days ago I sent an email for choice of agent for my wife, I received an email yesterday saying that I am approved as the choice of agent for my wife and an invoice for $230.00 for the next step. I thought that since my minor child (3 yr old son) was a dependent I didn't have to do a choice of agent for him or a seperate I-864 but now I realize I may be mistaken. :bonk: If this is true I will need to send another email for choice of agent for my minor child (3 yr old son's) I-130. Will I need to send a copy of the I-864 I sent for my wife for my son also? If so, what cover sheet do I used for the son since I already used the cover sheet for my wife's I-864. Should I pay my wife's $230.00 fee before I get my son's? or should I wait until I receive my son's choice of agent confirmation and bill for 230.00? Thanks much for clearing up my confusion I have read and googled these things but can't seem to find the answers I am looking for yet.

  9. I just realized that I only sent a DS3032 email for my wife, I forgot to send one for my 3 year old minor son, I thought he would be included in my wife's since he is a minor dependent child. Now I think I have to send another email to the Visa Center for my son, which will take another 11 days :bonk::( , I also only sent an I-864 for my wife because I thought only was was needed since our son Esteban was 3 and included on her I-864. Do I need to fill out an I-864 for him also? this is frustrating when the rules aren't exactly clear on what to do.

  10. Alright, so attached to this post, you'll find the instructions on how to get the Police Certificates in Argentina in English and Spanish; so you can both take a look together and know what it's all about.

The Embassy requests that she gets a certificate from the National Registry of Re-incidence http://www.dnrec.jus...Particular.aspx which has 3 branches in Salta:

    1. Poder Judicial de Salta-Secretaría de Informática (SAL) Av.Bolivia 4671 Planta Baja, Salta - Phone (0387) 425-8033
    2. Policia de Salta-Unidad de Exp. y Recep. de Antecedentes Penales (SAL) Gral Guemes 750 Oficina 31Salta - Phone (0387) 421-9655
    3. Policia de Salta-Unidad de Exp. y Recep. de Antecedentes Penales (SAL) Gral Guemes 750 oficina 31Salta - Phone (0387) 421-9655

They have the fees on the website too. The only kind of document that you cannot get at any other branch other than the one in Buenos Aires, is the one that's processed in 6 hours (I got mine in 24 hours paying AR$ 55)

She needs to write a little authorization letter to the RNR, saying that she allows them to run a background check "with exception to the code 51 of the Penal Code" which means she allows them to search in the entire country (hence why she only needs this paper and nothing else).

    So, something like this:

Yo, <enter her full name>, DNI <enter her DNI number>, autorizo al Registro Nacional de Reincidencia a proveerme de un certificado de antecedentes con excepción al artículo 51 del Código Penal.

    Sign and date

When she goes to their offices, they'll get her fingerprints and they will instruct her how to print the results of the background check from home.

    That's it. good.gif

    Hope this helps

PS: Would you mind editing your profile so it shows the correct type of visa you are petitioning for? It should show IR1/CR1. This may seem totally trivial, but it helps us help you with your questions.

Thank you for your information and help,

I was confused when you said that she is able to get police certificates in Salta, but there is one that is only available in Buenos Aires. Do you mean that she can get the document in Salta but it takes longer but if she gets the one in Buenos Aires it will be faster and she will get it back in 24 hours? If she visits the RNR in Salta she still has to write a letter first or does she bring the authorization letter to Salta with her? Sorry for my confusion, all help is welcomed. Jason

  11. Hey Jason, I'm totally clueless about the CR1 process, so I can't help you there, but I'll be happy to help out with the Police Certificate from Argentina.

I can move this post to the CR1 forum, if you want, for the other information you need; but in the mean time. Can you tell me where she's from? That way I can give you the information you'll need. Oh, and you are correct, she'll need only 1 Police Certificate.

She is from Salta Argentina, actually a smaller town near Salta but Salta is a short bus ride and is the nearest bigger city. Her English isn't the best, we are both learning our languages a little every day, we got to know eachother quickly despite the language barrier because of google translate.

  12. I am in the NVC process for my Argentine wife and 3 year old son. I am currently trying to establish choice of agent, I had my wife send an email 9 days ago using the template on this website with no response yet. I have already paid the AOS fee. The mail system in Argentina seems unreliable, I have sent 2 letters to my wife months ago at different times, she never received either letter which is why I am trying to establish choice of agent through email if possible. I am also confused on what I-864 form I am supposed to use, I have my wife and my 3 year old son and I am not sure if I should use the I-864 or I-864ez or if it even matters. I told her she needs the police certificate from Buenos Aires, I am not even sure how or when she requests it. She told me that she will get a police certificate from her home town, but I don't think that will be adequate because it says a national police certificate from Buenos Aires. She has a scanner and a printer at home, and can fax in her hometown, although the quality of the last fax she sent me was not the greatest. She also lives 2 hours by airplane to the embassy in Buenos Aires which is going to be a big deal for her and her 3 year old son to travel, she told me she would rather take the bus with her mother but it is like a 3 day bus ride from where she lives, then hotel costs etc. Sometimes I feel like I need to fly back to Argentina to help her with all this but I am trying to avoid traveling there again soon due to the high cost of air travel 1600 dollars round trip last time I checked. I just have a lot of questions about alot of the details. The NVC process seems to be lot more complicated than the UCIS part, especially when my wife lives so far away from the US Embassy in Buenos Aires.

  13. Hello I am Jason, I married my beautiful wife Marina from Argentina in April and I am trying to get my wife to the USA as quickly as possible (L). I have managed to get past the immigrations and customs part of the process. I am now in the NVC stage, It seems to be more complicated and unclear than the previous part. My wife lives in a small town in Northwest Argentina, it is 2 hours by plane to Buenos Aires so getting her to the medical examination and interview is going to be difficult and costly in and of itself, she has never traveled out of her general area. She has a 3 year old boy Esteban who is now my son and I will be adopting him once they finally get here. She is getting frustrated with the length of time and all the requirements that the immigration process involves but we love eachother much and I must figure this out on my own. The first lawyer I talked to wanted to charge me 4500 dollars to help me with immigration, it was at that moment I decided to do all the work myself instead of getting ripped off by a lawyer. Hopefully I can navigate through this NVC process as quickly as possible, thanks for any and all help and advice. Jason
