  1. Okay, so my wife is Canadian, and apparently early on in the process (we are at the AOS at the NVC currently) she says that we submitted a supplemental form to allow her to still visit the US while the immigration application was processing, but I have no recollection of this nor can I find any records of it or any form that would do this on this site or the USCIS site or the NVC site, can anyone direct me to what she may have been thinking of or let me know if such a thing exists or what? Cause she is taking a vacation with a friend of hers to Disney and wants to have that form when she crosses, though she has crossed many times before fine without it, but she keeps insisting the form exists and wants me to find it. Any help is appreciated.

  2. I have gotten two RFE's now which state that "In Part 6, Sponsor's Income and Employment, Item 10: The current annual household income must equal the sum of items 5, 6.c., 7.c., 8.c., and 9.c." But both times I have resubmitted the number has been all of those added up properly, I called before I initially submitted and was told that I should out my expected income for the next year here and so I did that and they sent it back, so I thought maybe it just needs to match my gross income as stated in my taxes attached, but they sent that back as well, so I honestly have no idea what they want me to put here and I really don't want to wait another month just for them to send it back again, any help on this would be wonderful as I am really at a loss as to what they want from me to 'correctly' answer this question as this is the only thing holding up the completion of our processing. Thank you everyone for all of your help.

  3. I have to go to Montreal for the interview, but depending on when that takes place I may have to head to either Mexico or the states immediately afterwards with no time to go back to Vancouver to wait a week or two for my papers to arrive, if I am in the states or Mexico and have my papers sent to me can I do my entry there, or do I have to fly back across the continent just to get the papers and enter from the Canada border just to fly back exactly where I came from? It just seems like an expensive and long trip just for a pack of papers and to cross a line from a specific side. They've said that I can enter from Mexico so now I'm just wondering if I'm going to need to take that flight back to Canada should I be in the states at the time when my papers arrive or can I just head to a local government office and get things processed there, because it seems incredibly inconvenient to have to go to the nearest border just to exit and then re-enter. Also seems like something that may make the border raise their eyebrows at me.

  4. I have to move around a lot for my job and if I could enter from the Mexico side, where I will most likely be when everything goes through, then it saves me an annoying, expensive, and needless flight back to Canada just to cross the border from there. Also, what should I do if I am in the states when my paperwork comes through? Again, my job requires a lot of traveling to different places and I've had no trouble coming and going throughout the entire immigration process, do I have to go out of the country and re-enter to 'officially' enter, or is there somewhere I can go within the country like the airport or local office or something to 'officially' enter and get the stamp and such? Thanks so much for all the help, this immigration has been a logistical nightmare for me.

  5. I am currently in the middle of an I-130 application which is dragging on and looks like it is not going to be done in time for both of us to move to the apartment which we have signed a lease on so that I may attend the graduate school which I have been accepted at. If she is not able to move in time to be with me this will cause severe financial hardship on both ourselves and our families as well as severe emotional hardship on us personally. Is the I-601 something that could help me, and if it is, do you think I would be able to get one?

  6. Hey, so I'm a US citizen and my wife is a Canadian citizen living in Port Moody, Vancouver, Canada. We are looking to obtain her criminal record check currently. She has never been arrested or convicted of any crimes, so I thought that all she needed to obtain was a Canada-wide name check document (as listed in this guide. However when she went to the Port Moody Police Department they did not know what she was talking about when she asked for one. They said she would need to do fingerprinting and schedule an appointment, I thought the full fingerprint check was only needed if you had ever been convicted of a crime. Can anyone please help clear this up for me, what kind of police check will she need and what does she need to get it and around how long will it take? Thank you to everyone here who is so helpful to others in their time of need.

  7. Hmm, I called the USCIS and asked them about the delay and they said that's just how long things were taking to get processed and that I should be receiving an answer within two weeks, sigh. Researched K-3 more and realized it probably takes just as long as the I-130 to process and so there is probably no point at this stage in submitting one, so I guess I just have to hope that I can fly through the NVC and consulate stuff, I just hope there isn't a huge wait to get the interview as from what I've been reading people are getting anywhere from 2-4 months waits on their interviews :( Also, I called the state department trying to get some clarification on information on the next stage and spoke to the rudest woman who essentially told me I was wasting her time and hung up on me, which was upsetting after waiting on hold for 45 minutes to speak with them. Anyway, thank you to everyone who has responded here and shared your advice and stories, it's nice to know I'm not the only one going through this.

  8. Yes, I called them about a month ago, the first guy I talked to said he couldn't help me then transferred me to someone higher up the chain of command, I waited an hour on hold, then when I got the guy all he could tell me was that it was "being processed". And I call the number that is listed on my NOA1 (1-800-375-5283), I'm not sure which is my local field office but I live in Tampa, FL if that helps?

  9. I have been reading and it says that if I apply for a K-3 then she could join me in the US to await the rest of the process to go through, in the event that the process does not finish by August (which it is looking like now) do you believe this would be a good option? The form I-129f says you can avoid paying the fee if "There is no fee for petitions for K-3 status based on an immigrant petition filed by the same U.S. citizen." I'm not sure what that means though? Can anyone provide feedback whether the K-3 is a good idea and what that fee waiver is referring to? Thanks.

  10. I am just concerned because I have looked at more than ten other timelines and there are numerous individuals who applied several weeks after I did and who have received a response a month or longer ago, I understand that the time is still within bounds, I am just concerned that my case is still being processed while others who started later than me are already almost completed.

  11. Hello, I'm an American citizen and I married my wife who is a Canadian citizen on June 30, 2012. We submitted our I-130 and got the NOA1 on Oct 1st 2012, it is now March 14th 2013 and I still have not heard anything back about my case. I have checked other people's timelines and several people who filed after us have already received their NOA2s and many have even progressed to the interview while I am still here waiting for my NOA2. I have had no RFe's or contact from them of any kind (will they be contacting me or her with a response?). The service center that I believe to be handling my petition is MSC (so it says on my NOA1). If anyone can provide any insight or explanation as to what is going on I would really appreicate it as I start graduate school in August and was intending to have my wife move in with me then, is this still feasible? Any help or advice will be greatly appreicated, thank you.

Additionally, if it is unlikely that my wife will be approved before August 2013 what can I do to allow her to move then and wait out the rest of the process there with me as she has scheduled a number of things to coincide to allow her to move then and if it is any later then moving will become much more difficult for us. Thanks again for any and all help.
