For those who already have an appointment with the USEM, how long did it take for the USEM to contact you after you have sent them your documents for Consular Report of Birth Abroad? We sent our documents over the weekend and courier said it should arrive at the embassy last Monday. Wondering how long it would take for them to contact us for an interview/ appointment.

I have a 10 year multiple entry b1/b2 visa (my second one) which i obtained before i married my US citizen husband.Iam currently a housewife. My husband is a US citizen and Filipino as well so he is legally residing with me here in Manila. He has a business here too and a US company which is outsourced in Manila. We will be visiting the US next year. Will i have a problem at the POE? I've been to the US 4x. Never overstayed. Currently have no plans of filing my petition, not next year at least. After the US,we will be travelling to Vancouver for a week and 10 days in Tokyo.

I was thinking my airline ticket from LAX to Vancouver then Vanvouver to Tokyo then Tokyo to Manila will prove to the immigration officer that i will leave the US.

I am just scared that they might deny me of entry.

My husband and I will be touring Egypt in October. We'll be in Cairo then plan to take a bus to the Taba border to Eilat. But I heard that foreigners are not allowed to take the bus to Taba from Cairo as it is dangerous. How true is this? I also read that foreigners have to take a longer route to Dahab then Taba as this is more safe. I hope someone can give me advice.

A Philippine passport is valid for 5 years. So new passports will encounter no problems

The said requirement of CFO means that the passport should be valid for AT LEAST 6 more months from the time of application. The CFO certificate has no expiration too.

Example situation:

Travel date: December 2012

Passport Expiration: October 2012

You will not be allowed to travel anymore.

you must set an appointment with the US embassy in manila. Maybe its too early to set a schedule for July. The notarial services appointment isn't as packed as visa application. So no need to worry. My fiance then- now husband easily got a schedule on the week that he tried to set an appointment.

Okay I think your getting confused as what to what MIDDLE NAME you will use.

In the US the middle name is the second name

In the Philippines the middle name is your mother's maiden name.

I have no second name so that will never be an issue but my husband does.

In his Filipino Passport he still uses: First Name, second name, mother's maiden name, last name

In his US passport he uses: First name, middle name is his second name, last name (he basically dropped his mothers maiden name).

I think the location of marriage in your certificate doesn't have anything to do with your wife failing the CFO.

The cfo officer must have told her why she failed. When I attended the CFO myself, there was one Filipina who couldn't even write

and only reads a little so she could not fill up the forms properly. I was trying to be nice and tried to help her because I initially thought she just couldn't maybe read nor understand english and was willing to translate it for her. But the CFO people told me not to help her

because she needs to do it on her own, if she could barely fill up a form how much more can she survive in a country where she knows no one but her one person.

So maybe she wasn't answering the questions correctly or did not sound as confident. Dont lose hope. From what I know she can take another test or something.

If the Philippine passport is still valid bring both the US passport and Philippine passport with you. Present the US passport upon entry and exit to/from the United States.

My husband has been doing this all his life. He was born in the US (thus making him a citizen to Filipino parents, also making him filipino).

Renewing your wife's Filipino passport is another story though. She first has to apply for dual citizenship at the nearest Phil consulate.

My husband is dual citizen (born in America to Filipino citizens). He has no ACR card because he holds a Philippine passport as well as an American passport. My fiance then now husband is a dual citizen too. He was born in California with Filipino parents thus making him American and Filipino.

This is what you need to do.

1.Fly to the Philippines.

2. Set an appointment with the USEM. You need to get the "Affidavit in Lieu of the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry". This one costs 50 bucks. You will get the certificate on the same day.

3. Be ready with your Original birth certificate and 1x1 ID

Fiancee should complete her requirements as well. This includes, but is not limited too (depends on the mood of the civil registrar): Cenomar, birth certificate, cedula,

duly accomplished marriage license application form, 1x1 id picture

You file your application for marriage license on the city where your fiancee lives. After 10 days you can get the marriage license and can get married ANYWHERE in the Philippines. The key here is that the license application should be filed where one of the contracting parties resides.

There is nothing to lose (not even money, except for the 50 bucks) by declaring you are a dual citizen. 1, by that your Marriage Certificate will indicate that your wife is married to an American making your petition process easier than you declaring your Filipino.

They did not for more than the usual filing fee at the City Hall (Quezon City) where we applied.
