I'm not confused! I know what I flew over on & it was not a tourist visa.
The I-485 is AOS & also to (register for permanent residency), my residency is based on family related visa. (spouse) which also indicates in the instructions of the I-485, I fall under CR1
I have no need to apply for AOS (adjustment of status), that happens when my green card is nearing its expiration date", that is when I will apply for adjustment of status/ to lift restrictions as told by the immigration officer whom conducted my interview, and was told that CR1 was the right category...
Bit anyhu, it's done with & I'm only going by my experience, & mine alone. And what I filled out & filed....
In other words, if I were wrong, or confused", then I'd still be going through proceedings....

As for the green card upon entry" NO, I did not automatically get one! I married here in the states, and had to apply for permanent residency... My greencard won't get to me within the next 3 weeks, to a month!
-
Yeah I haven't quite updated my info on the profile... I did file an I-485, which was not for the purpose of adjusting status, but to register for permanent residency!
I know what I have filed and what I didn't have to file, bit thanks!
According to the the VISA I came over on, I fall into the categorie of the CR1....I must have done everything right to be granted residency ??

I just did my background check today! Due to the job I'll be working at (children) I was not asked for my SSN, I did offer it, however because I'm an international, they do a international check, based on my passport information..... Eg: name, D.O.B, etc: then after the clearance, they then use my SSN, which I just got after receiving my EAD a month ago
My employer will have all the available information prior to me even starting

I start my first paid job here in the states, working with children tomorrow:) however I volunteered at a local fire brigade from mid April to present....
My husband whose in the military, told me a lot that I can do during my time of wait for my permit, " my choice", so I looked into it and got through, volunteering looks great when starring off, not only that it beats staying home & loosing you're mind lol...
My search was easy, I just visited certain centres and asked the directors if they had openings, and lucky for me they did. I applied and got the job

If you're wife has just admitted you're forms, it will take a while before you get an interview notice.... Uscis will go over you're information to make sure it's correct, and if anything is wrong they will send it all back to you, along with a notice - telling you what to correct, if that happens of course! You'll get NOA for bio metrics and they choose the date, time n place where you'll go...
It's a process, as there are many people out there going through immigration visas and whatnots
Just be patient and make sure everything is correct

For what form exactly?
-
Depends on who you are interviewed by, & what type of mood there in really!
My interview lasted only 5 mins, & myself & husband were just asked if we had children, where we lived, and to say each others names..
I wasn't asked much at all, my husband was the one getting asked!
However, it's really not that bad. Just be yourself, & act as how you would normally act together
Good luck

From my own experience, it takes 3 - 4 weeks to arrive, as said by the immigration officer who done my interview

You need a SSN to open a joint account! Or else it's impossible to make a joint account! Better yet, you could just leave you're money in an account you have at home, and use a card to withdraw funds out from here...

First of all if you've applied for a K1 visa, he would not be classified as you're boy friend, but as you're fiance....
If you weren't to apply for K1, then he would be you're boyfriend
You're engaged if applying for a K1, not just dating
Be sure to apply for the right one, or you could possibly have confusion in later time with immigration processing.....
You need to say he is you're fiance, :)good luck

VWP, is as everyone has stated! You cannot stay beyond 90 days... You will be deported, & banned from entering the US for a period of time, that goes for all countries under the VWP, depending on why you wanna stay longer in the states, apply for the correct visa prior to even coming through again
-
to apply for you're wifes SSN, all you need is proof of marriage, and an EAD card, you're I-94 has nothing to do with it... If you have already filed or are filing for her I-485, and its paid for, she can then go ahead and file the I-694 form, which won't cost you a penny if you've paid for her I-485, it takes roughly a month for the EAD card to come through, however uscis says 90 days, but in most cases it don't take more than a month
Once y'all done that, go into the SS office and apply for it
it's quite easy and honestly not worth worrying about if you do it that way, that's how me and my husband got it
And our whole process of everything with USCIS, is finished
Everything took 8 months for
Good luck

Where is you're wife from? These days they do not give you a I-94, it's all done electronically.... Through the VWP, you're wife will have filled out a form just before she landed into the states, however the flight attendants take that form off you when you land, the passport is a stamp, not you're I-94.... Check out the (visa waiver programme) site, aka ESTA
I know this, cause I actually had the same worries n drama with it, then found out, my I-94 isn't issued to you in and paper or stamp form, unless the country you're originally from is not on the VWP

I'm from nz myself, and just recently got approved for residency 2 days ago.... I was in the same situation, my husband being military & of course living in a complete different state to me. I was in his home town in MS, while he was in VA, where he is stationed...
Anyhow, when I filed for my I-485, and for the address, I put down my address before I came to the states, and also put the current addressto where I was living in MS, until April this year I moved to VA, to be with my husband and changed my address when I moved into our home here in VA...
If you have any concerns, message me, I'm always willing to help outa fellow KIWI
it can be daunting, especially when you're so far from home and what we're used too
Good luck ....

I know what visas are for, and you're right! I did not come over on a K1 visa, I had no purpose too.... Got engaged here in the states, and based on my marriage, I was in CR1....
