It seems to me that it is clear that we need to provide the letter from the local police department here in US as well since my wife has been staying in the US since she got her temporary US green card.

My wife just got an RFE for her I-751 application.

Her fingerprints were rejected twice as unreadable...not sure why we paid the Biometric fee for.

Anyway, now, we were asked to provide police clearance certificate.

How one obtain a police certificate here is US, specifically in TX?

Is it possible to obtain it via online instead or do we have to go to local police office?

I went to the visitor line but an Immigration Officer spotted my big golden envelope and sent me to the US/PR line which made a big difference in waiting

It has been a long time coming.

She can go to the USC/LPR line. She will not be entering the country as a visitor. Besides she will need to be processed at secondary, so there is no reason for her to wait in the longer and slower visitor line.

My wife just got approved for CR1 visa. She is going to travel to US next week.

She has received a sealed envelope from the US embassy.

Quick question, when she arrives at the US entry port, does she need to go via visitor line or US/PR line for the immigration?

Can you share your experience as far as what to expect in the immigration?

Quick update, my wife's visa was approved two days ago.

She was told to get her passport and visa next week.

According to my wife, the interview was quick and painless.

The interviewer did not ask (probably because our application was complete) any additional supporting documents from her, even though she was well prepared, .

I have a quick question.

My wife is going to be interviewed for US immigrant visa end of this month.

My mother in law (who is a foreigner) is going to give her money. She plans to wire transfer the money to my bank account in the US.

The amount is less than $100K.

According to this IRS page, http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Gifts-from-Foreign-Person, it appears we do not have to report it to IRS if she transfers the money from overseas to US bank account so long as it is less than $100K and it will not be subjected to tax.

I just would like to make sure that my above understanding is correct.

Surely, there are many folks here that have done it.

The status has changed from In Transit to Ready.

Looking at the VisaJourney's wiki, it appears in the past, US embassy sends packages to the beneficiary.

Based from our IL and the state.gov website, it looks like US embassy does not send packages any longer to IR1/CR1 beneficiary?

Meaning, we should have everything that we need (+ medical exam result) without the need to wait for anything from US embassy?

I postponed my oath ceremony.

Couldn't find out whether the upgrade would cost me more time. Some NVC reps said it didn't some said it would ( "We will have to reopen your file [as upgrade would have been after CC] and review the additional document).

I upgraded our petition from F2A to CR1 while at NVC. In our case, the timing happened to work out, I was sworn while NVC was processing our case and we got a checklist.

From what I can tell, it did not affect the time we spent in NVC. Once you are a USC, NVC folks told me that we must update our category.

Now to interview assignment its all based on availability of your embassy and how many slots the embassy opened up for IR1/CR1 interviews.

The embassy sends over the dates hours and how many per day and the NVC starts filling the slots. Thats how it goes in Case Complete order.

The scheduling should start I figure by end of week for March.

I called NVC today and they said my case is complete and now just waiting on interview appointment. I'll believe it when I see it, but that's what they told me.

I notice from your timeline, you received several checklists.

Did NVC find new issues that was already in your original submission after you responded to previous checklist for the same form or each checklist is legitimate in your case?

I received a checklist and responded last December. I have not heard from NVC again since.

I definitely do not want NVC to tell me that there is another issue with my original submission that they did not mention on the checklist that they send.

NVC ony communicates via email unless none is given. So if you gave them an email address they will send that P4 letter that way.

I did a search, I could not find any thread that discusses this specific topic.

I just recently became USC and upgraded my wife's petition (NVC just confirmed that they have upgraded her case from F2A to CR1).

Currently, we are waiting for the case completion of her petition at NVC (hopefully, sometime this month).

I notice that for F2A category, it may take up to two months before one could get an interview.

I am curious if for IR1/CR1 category that US embassy would schedule an interview faster than F2A category or they go to the same pile of petitions (thus the same queue) at the embassy.

Upgrading to USC shouldn't delay anything. It should process faster. My brother who is green card holder, took his wife 3 years to come to the USA where for USC it takes about a year n half or less.

Ur at the stage of NVC, so you won't have to wait till a visa becomes available for ur wife.

I just received a letter from NVC today to confirm about the upgrade.

One thing to note, the priority date remains the same, it does NOT change after the upgrade.

Also, I just sent email and attach my naturalization cert. There is no need to mail it.

Hopefully, the above information will help someone in the future.

I was told over the phone yesterday by NVC that our petition had been upgraded to USC.

We are still waiting for case completion.

We got our letter today from NVC (dated Dec 16) with our case number... Things moving slowly... but moving!

What do we do now? We just wait, I guess...

Any opinions as to how long it might take before the next step would be greatly appreciated.

Did you receive IIN as well? If so, login to https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx using your NVC case number and IIN, fill out DS-261. Pay the fees when they are available.

In either case, you need start preparing for the documents and forms that you need to submit to NVC.

did you also send all the supporting documents (ITR,W2) again together with the updated 9 pages form I864? I received a I864 checklist too, correction on Part 6.

For me, just the form since NVC did not checklist me on the supporting documents.

you need to send a new set of I-864 regardless if the mistake is just one word and NVC saw it. The thing is, the review will take again another 20-30 days :-/
