  1. Congrats. Question. Nvc sent my info to Juarez. How can I find out if it arrived? I'm trying to do the sac and pay the mrv fees for her from the us.

When did NVC tell you they sent the case to Juarez? I waited about 10 days or so, maybe 2 weeks, from when NVC told me they sent our case to Juarez. I had called them and gotten all the numbers. I never actually had confirmation that it arrived, I just had faith that it did. I went ahead and started the online process--paid the fees, got her on the phone with me and we completed the DS260, then made the ASC and interview appointments. The invitation letter eventually arrived to my address in the US last week, about 4 or 5 days before she left for Juarez, and I just scanned it and emailed it to her.

  2. Thank you so much!

My fiance told me that the officer that did her interview was actually very pleasant and kind. She asked only a few questions--how and where did we meet, when did our "relationship" start...what I do for a living....they also asked her what was my ex-wife's name, which I thought was odd. She told the lady that she didn't know, that she never remembered me using her name. And the officer said it was no problem. Then one or two more things and she said "well, congratulations, your visa is approved and you'll receive it next week!" It was painless. In fact, the whole process in Juarez went well. Medical exam, ASC, everything. My fiance and her brother stayed at the Microtel Inn, she said it's great, they have free breakfast and you can walk to the embassy and clinics from there. She said everyone there is there for embassy business.

Good luck to you and yours as well! Anything else I can help with, let me know.

  3. Embassy in Ciudad Juarez approved my sweetheart's visa this morning!! dancin5hr.gif I go get her in 2 weeks and bring her back!!

Thank you to all the members here who ask questions, share information, and sahre experiences. And a huge big giant thank you especially to Jay Kay who is simply a wealth of information and spends time here just to assist. I told you before we wouldn't have made it this far without you--con todo mi corazon, gracias.

My best wishes to everyone on their journey. If I can help to answer anything I will do my best.

  4. Today I submitted the DS-260, made the interview and ASC appointments online, and paid the MRV fee of $240. Is there another fee for the ASC appointment? I never saw anywhere online to pay it. Did I miss something? I already have confirmation numbers for both ASC appointment and interview appointment, and an MRV fee receipt. Thanks for any help!

  5. We got our NOA2 in the mail on Friday, May 17 (Woohoo!! dancin5hr.gif )!! My question is about where the NVC will send our petition....I just read last week that the US only process Mexican k-1 visas in Ciudad Juarez, MX, and I indicated on our petition that my fiance will apply for her visa in Mexico City. Does anyone recommend I go ahead and call NVC to make sure they send our things to Juarez instead of Mexico City? Or would they notice that mistake and send it to the correct consulate, considering it's the only consulate in that country that processes the k1? Thanks for any suggestions!

  6. Well, marrying in the US isn't important. I guess we were just thinking, or assuming, that it may be easier in the future to adjust status if we had already gotten the k-1 and were married here. And also we were thinking, well, if she does come here and absolutely falls in love with being here and the idea of living here, we would have the right visa and so forth....I really appreciate the responses and advice! Todd, so I guess she shouldn't mention in her b-2 interview that her fiance is here? :-)

  7. Wow, thanks for that, Harpa. Knowing that AOS won't be an option in the future, the k-1 really doesn't seem like the best idea. Do you recommend just trying to obtain a tourist visa? I guess what we were trying to avoid is the seemingly random decisions that they sometimes make with granting that permission to Mexicans. I didn't want her to apply and be rejected 2 or 3 times, spending all that money and travel time...etc. But it sounds like that may be the best option, then if we do decide to live in Mexico, and eventually decide to come back here, then I could file for a spousal visa. Make sense? Thanks again.

  8. I have a general question about what happens after someone is granted their K-1 visa and gets married. I'm mainly asking because my fiance, who is Mexican, and I haven't really decided where we're going to live after we get married--there or here. We just know that we'd really like to get her here to visit and meet my family and everything, even if not to stay permanently, and this seems like the best way. My question is, assuming the k-1 process goes as planned and she comes here and we get married, but we decide NOT to live here and immediately pursue any adjustment of status, will that remain an option for her in the future? 5 or 6 years from now, would it be fairly easy to get started on her case again? Does anyone have any experience with this situation?
