  1. hi there! i would just like to know your insights about these: i'm planning to go back to school here in CA and im considering LVN or OTA. i would like to take RN but considering the length of time finishing the course my husband and i decided to take up either LVN or OTA (Occupational Therapist Assistant). Which of the 2 do you guys think would be better? I have interest on both fields but the thing is, for OTA, I can't find any nearby colleges (Im staying here in OC, Cypress area) If you guys know any school please do let me know :) Also, would LVN still be in demand by the time i finish the course which is 1 year for full time student?

another thing, is there any place/hospital/county here where i could bring my mom for consultation/check up for free? she's below 60 years old but taking meds for maintenance (bp, dibaetes, etc). is there any way to get discounted meds here for them? It'll be quite pricey to bring all the meds until she gets back to the phils since she'll be here for almost 6 months.

i would be glad to hear your thoughts about this. thank you! :)

  2. study what's interests you most so that if you work you will have passion for it..

as of me since I am an undergad nursing student here in Phils

I would choose LVN (it's only 1 year to take) then I could continue to RN

I heard (not so sure) if you take LVN you have to pass the CNA exam first (search about this just for sure)

salary of an LVN is depends on your experiences but starting is minimum to 12/hr..

actually yes, you can continue to RN once you are an LVN. You can also take RN right away. Im just considering the length of time of course and the demand of work by the time i finish the course. If you finish your nursing degree in the Philippines, you can just take the state board exam here and youre good to go. Correct me if im wrong but thats what i've gathered here and what my rn friends told me. you can actually get paid 18-20/hr or higher as an LVN depending on experience.

  3. hi people. i'm just wondering if there are any county/hospitals where i could bring my mom for free check up. She's been under medication for maintenance (bp, diabetes, etc) and i dont think she can bring those stocks of medicine good for 5 months. it's gonna be costly too when she buys it all at the same time. i was told that it is possible for her to see a doctor here for free but i just don't know how i could go on with the process. thanks again!

  4. You Are Absolutely right!

I-94 is the embarkation card right? it was surrendered at the immigration and what i have now is just my passport with a stamp in it. where can i follow up the status of my SSN aside from visiting their office?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You will need ssn & valid 1-94 as well.if you go to dmv somewhere in victorville they don't issue you w/o a green card.

  5. hi there!

    thanks!

  6. My fiancee did her CFO seminar about a week and a half ago(Nov 9). She is a K1 visa but the seminar is similar for K1 and IR-1/IR-2. She arrived at 6am and there were already over 40 people in line. Thank God not all were for the America Seminar. I would recomend arriving by 5am. It is suggested that you take the same documentation that you used for your embassy interview as they sometimes ask for pictures and other documentation that they do not list on their web site.

Marisal said once inside it was very low stress and lots of helpful information. The CFO staff was helpful and made it a good experience. The days of private contractors holding power over you and intimidating are gone.

Good luck with your travels and Welcome to America!!

i dont need to bring the entire visa packet right? just the photocopy of the immigrant data summary page?

  7. Hi there!

I will be having my CFO seminar tomorrow here in Manila. What time should I be there in order to have a slot for the seminar as I will also be leaving by the end of the week. Are these the only requirements for IR1 and IR2 holder?

    1. photocopy of passport

    2. photocopy of visa

    3. photocopy of data summary page (no need to bring the entire packet with data page in front, right?)

    4. copy of marriage cert

    5. copy of birth cert? (for minor)

    6. copy of divorce decree?

hope you can help me out with this. do i need to bring along other original docs aside from the passport?

    Thanks!

  8. Who will have their CFO this monday?

what time should I go there?

I heard that its only limited, like 15 slots per session.

15 in the morning and another 15 in the afternoon.

I should bring 2 valid Id's with picture

Guidance counseling form (can be found in their website)

And the payment which is 400 pesos.

Is this all I need to bring?

    '

any feedback on your cfo seminar?

  9. What happens if an IR2 holder cannot travel on the given visa validity? is it possible to request for an extension? I am aware that the visa validity should also cover the medical exam's validity.

    Anybody familiar with this process?

  10. hi there vj!

any feedback on PAL, from MNL - LAX? I've flown thru PAL in Asian countries only and I must say I'm quite satisfied with their services compared to other airlines. How's it like if it's from MNL- LAX and having a straight flight of 13 or more hours?

    Thank you!

  11. Just curious why are you flying back to the Phils? If you have your visa you can fly to the U.S. from where you are without the CFO sticker as it is not a requirement by U.S. Immigrations, it only a Philippine requirement for exiting.

If you are going back to the Phils no matter, for sure get extra copies of your NSO birth certificate and marriage certificate as you will need them from time to time once in the States.

Really I can do that? All the while i thought I really need to go back to the Philippines for the seminar. I thought it's a requirement since our case was applied in USEM. Anyway, I'm totally fine flying from PI to US. Family and most of my friends are back home so I'd rather fly from there. Thanks for letting me know about this tho. :)

So basically it's just the seminar that needs to be done aside from requesting NSO BC and MC.

    Thanks thanks!

  12. I think any day is busy day at CFO office. BTW, you have your visa already? If so then you'll only need a day to finish the counseling and getting the sticker on your passport. If you don't have it yet, you'll only get the certificate and need to go back with your visa to get the sticker.

    Good luck!

Yup I've gotten the visa already. So 1 day would be enough for the seminar/counseling and sticker i guess. Thanks!

Maybe you want to have another NSO birth certificate and another certificate of marriage.

To bring in US? Yup! I've got a lot of extras. Thanks for reminding me :)

  13. HI there!

Aside from attending the CFO seminar, is there anything else I need to prepare or that needs to be done? Im just wondering if 1 week would be enough for preparing all those stuff. I am employed abroad and would be home 1 week before my departure date to complete the seminar. I just hope I would be able to get a slot on a Monday. Or would it be better to go to the seminar on Tuesdays thru Thursdays?

    Thanks!

  14. Hi all!

My child will be traveling to LAX with her grandparent as I will be leaving first. What are the requirements do they need aside from exit clearance from DSWD? And is there anything they need to show aside from the yellow packet when they get to their POE which is LAX? Aside from that, would it be safe to travel like more than a week before her visa expires? She's under IR2.

    Thank you!

  15. Is there any online check-ins for PAL, I've looked all over the site and I can't seem to find it.

    http://www.philippineairlines.com/home/home.jsp

Also, I'll use my card to buy Mike's ticket from MNL-LAX. Will the check-in counter asks for copies of front and back of the CC and Authorization Letter advising that I've authorized him to use my card? I'm reading different ones here, there are ones that says NO (just check-in 24 hrs ahead of time or that it was never an issue for it was paid already) and the others to make sure, YES.

I've always buy tickets for my sisters or mom (continental US only) even without me with them during the flights and they were never asked for it. Is this a normal process leaving MNL or another unnecessary steps that we don't need to do but stress out about it?

You guys have been great with responses so thanks in advance for all the help!

in other countries, PAL needs the details from the cc. if the passenger doesnt own the card, he/she can always bring a copy if it both front and back. I've travelled through PAL originating from other country and yes they do check. m just not sure about manila airport. you can always call them to verify :)

  16. I'm done with CFO seminar. Didn't make it on Monday. After standing in line for almost 3 hours they only gave me a form to fill up and ask to try again the following day cause even the afternoon slots are already full. I woke up at 3am on Tuesday and got there at 4:30 and there were Already 19 people standing there. It was already 1:30 when we finally got the sticker and cert and a small handbook.

what docs have you brought? thanks!

  17. I attended my CFO at SMEF-COW @ Katipunan, QC but It's already close for business since Sept.15, 2012

the requirements they asked from me was a copy of passport, mc, bc, and 1pc photo of me and my hubby.

I am not sure what are the requirements at CFO Main Office at Quirino Ave. beside from the 12 slot per day.

I suggest that you call their office to inquire for the requirements. and also they seemed to be strict to

K1 applicants. maybe just bring along.. CEMAR, NBI,4-6pcs of Photos, and make sure you know all the basic

info of your hubby. from home address to phone numbers to mother's maiden name.

    Good Luck!

Isn't k1 a fiancé visa? Then if its k1 they wouldn't have cemar. Should be cenomar right?

    Thanks
