  1. Doubt you can just START USING a new name

You can just start using a name when you get married. In PA anyways when we got married we could have BOTH just started using his last name, my maiden name or any name we made up. But I called the court and at this point since I took his name already we do have to do a legal name change.

Thanks for your help all. I'm sure if we do change it's gonna be fun to change on me green card.

  2. Google was my first try ;)

We both want to change our name at this point to my maiden. On the web i have found that in PA a man can take his wife's maiden when they are married. My question is really does it have to be at time of marriage or can we both just start using my maiden name now. The only way for me to find out it seems is to actually ask a lawyer which is what I was trying to avoid if it was just a matter of starting to use the name.

  3. I'm having a hard time finding a website for information thought I would toss the question here see if someone could at least point me in the right direction. My husband and I were married in PA last January and at that time I took his last name. So my social, green card and driver's licence read his name but my Canadian information is still all in my maiden name. After discussing with my husband, we have decided that it would be better to detach ourselves from his last name due to family history. Is it too late for both of us to just change our names to either my maiden name or a new last name by simply starting to use the name or do we have to go threw a legal name change. Any help appreciated, website, advice etc.

    Regards,

    Tanya

  5. Hi Guys,

I recently complete my journey in becoming a US Permenant Residant. Now while i love my new home and all I have been offered a rather tempting job back home in Canada from a past employer. I want to find out what kind of a journey it would be to go back home and take my USC husband with me. Also want to know what will happen to my status in the US.

That being said I realize people here are not going to Canada but from Canada. I would appreciate if anyone had any good sites, such as this one, that i can gather information. Google has proven to only point me to lawer pages. :help:

    Thanks

  6. I just drove in for the day (then again the next day to get my visa :D ). There is a parking lot that charges a decent price and it's one street over from the consulate. I cant remember the direction but if you are comming from the highway it will be one past the consulate road.

  7. In Ottawa it took me about 3 months to get my finger prints done. I didn't realize right away that all I needed was the name check. Name check took me 10 minutes to get and the building was infront of my house lol.

  8. Dont need the passport untill the end of this year.

The passport requirement is being put forth by the US. The US government is the one requiring passports for foreigners and US residents/citizens to enter the US.

CANADA IS NOT REQUIRING PASSPORTS OF CANDIAN OR AMERICAN CITIZENS TO ENTER INTO CANADA.

Resident aliens of the US (green card holders) must also produce a passport.

lol, it's like the Hotel California----You can check into Canada anytime you like, but you can never leave....

lol i did assume they wanted to return ;)
