Congrats! Did you pickup your passport or get the passport delivered to your home? If the passport was delivered, how did you select that option at the US travel doc site? I can see only the pickup option. Please let me know. Thanks.

To register for passport to be delivered home, it can only be done after interview at the consulate. when you walk out the consulate there is the counter where you can pay 300Rs and fill the form for passport to be delivered home.

But till your interview, maintain your registration that you confirmed for VFS pick up of your passport via USTRAVEL website.

Just FYI - there is a separate window (# 7) at SFO Airport for New Immigrants. The POE process was pretty quick and pain free.

Hi all and M+H Hawkins,

Thank you very much for all your support and M+H Hawkins, thanks a ton for this forum.

When I joined VJ, this is the forum that helped me a lot and encouraged me to face those times of stress of getting prepared for this whole drama of NVC to consulate to Interview and Visa in hand just for 2 loved ones to live together, Phew! its all over for me now. My hubby's interview was on the 23rd and got his visa on the 29th. He will arrive on Dec 6th.

For those waiting for this journey, be strong and all this shall pass just like everything else in our lives has passed by the Grace of God! Be blessed!

We have come to an end of this months visa schedules and congratulations to all who are approved. My very best wishes to all those who are fighting the 221g and I hope you all get it cleared very soon to start your life with your loved ones by the new year.

All our friends in pink font have updated their profiles of visa approval but there are some that I am not sure if they got approved or their case status at the moment. So please keep us posted.

As you all might know by now that visa disposal is not very prompt so please be aware of all the options you have to track your visa to get it hassle free.

Dear All - Thanks all for your quick responses. We were able to get our passport yesterday from VFS location in Bangalore!! But it was a herculean task as it is a complete mess at this office. They did not have a clue on where the passport was, how to track and locate it. We were lucky to finally get through them and find our passport.

This begs the question, why they take Rs. 300 to deliver to our home address whereas it still gets delivered to VFS office? We plan to write to VFS/US consulate on our overall experience so that they can fix this for others in the future.

A quick question, do we need to stand in US Citizen/Permanent Resident line at POE in US or should my wife go through the other line.

I thought that this kind of descrepancy was for those who do not pay 300Rs and so they give us a hard time so everyone will pay the premium fees. But this is sad to know that after all the money paid they figure to give even crapier situations. well atleast you got it my friend! its better than those who are still trying to track their visa after weeks. I also was happy that we had an online registration and tracking site and stuff but its even worse.

About POE wouldnt it be the 'other' line as our beneficiary spouses do not have a green card nor a US passport? Oh I see, do you mean if USC spouse is accompanying??? hmmm... then its a good question, someone please help here!

my wife and me plan to pick up visa for her from Mumbai itself instead of the home delivery service she lives in mumbai , and you said we can pick up from OFC where is these located and i thaught we are supposed to pick up from Blue Dart Courier office in mumbai ??

My husband picked it up and he said "Mumbai OFC" which is somewhat close to the consulate. I cannot ask him details now, as he going back to Kerala and he's in the train. I will post the details by tommorrow. He did say that this was an office outside the actual OFC so I wonder if it could be the Blue dart courier office or not. He mentioned that whoever went inside OFC couldnt take cell phones and that there was security check etc. Maybe I can get back to you today itself. Sorry for the wait!

Hi all,

My Husband got his visa approved on Friday 23rd, Nov. YYYEEEAAAHHHH!!!! :dance: :dance: We had scheduled pick up of visa from Mumbai VFS. On the day of interview he was told that he will be texted with status of visa. On Tuesday 27th, he checked the status of his visa via email and got reply as 'The current status of your passport is In Transit From Post'. No further updates on Wednesday either so on Thursday 29th he visited the Mumbai OFC (which we found out that dispatches visa and not the VFS) and guess what!! his visa was ready from Tuesday. The explanation they have is "Technical difficulty" :angry: :angry: .

So anyone waiting for visa, please contact Mumbai OFC. Cell phones are allowed if it is to just pick up your visa, all other cases require you to go inside and so they do not allow cell phones from that point. They asked for a copy of my husbands passport (FYI).

Thank you all VJ friends for helping this journey of ours to be completed successfully. Now getting ready for the next phase of life but this time its together (L) . I will stick around VJ.com and can provide help to others who are in need.

Dear All - My wife's Visa (CR1) was approved last Friday and she paid Rs. 300 at Express Service Desk for passport delivery where she was told that it will be sent to home address. But US travel docs web site shows a VFS pick up location. We are based in Bangalore. Can someone with recent experience comment on whether we can expect this at home or need to pick it up from VFS office?

This is URGENT as travel day is this Saturday. We would appreciate your quick response.

Hey G&S, my Husband's interview was on Friday 23rd too and we had scheduled pick up from the Mumbai VFS, which is actually the OFC where you go to pick up. He send email on Tuesday to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com and in reply got this message "The current status of your passport is In Transit From Post". On the day of the interview they said they will also update him via text message but nothing of this sort happened till Wednesday evening so my husband went to the OFC today and found that the visa was ready from Tuesday. He questioned them for not updating and their explanation is "technical difficulty".

Well long story short my husband picked up his visa from the Mumbai OFC on 29th Thursday. If you dont get any updates via online or customer service phone line and do not see anything via post then go to the OFC and pick it up. They are just so messed up with their system. :bonk:

Thats pretty good. But as we all know sarkari depts dont have a standard operating Procedure all over the country. It differs from city to city , state to state. so we're not takin any chances.

AD, try your local PSK and see if they get it fixed same day. if it does then we are tension free and more confident. You still have 3 business days this week itself. I feel so sorry for Guptaji's case and thinking of the few minutes in front of the interviewer that can change our lives to good or worse, 3 days is more than enough to fix things that we can do to make life better.

Another question, I have been reading and some posters mentioned 'being there at the interview'. Is USC allowed to be present with the spouse for the interview?

No they are not allowed especially for IR1/CR1 cases unless major exception. One of my VJ friends got a reply directly from the enquiry center that USC's are not allowed and translators are available. Yes getting new one is better because I found out that peeling could be considered to be attempt to modify something on the passport, so instead of fixing better get a new passport. Like Guptaji said opt for replacement of damaged passport rather than renewal or re-issue.

It is crazy to know that after all the preparation and hassle; things like this could happen to good people when there is so much ####### that some others do and get away with it with no worries.

Its a lesson learned and thank you Guptaji for your post in the forum specifically giving a heads up to all VJ friends about this issue.
