Hello everyone

A friend of mine is in a very weird situation , could you help her ?

I never encounter this case before.

Her fiance and they will get married soon .

She is under student visa ( F1) and he is green card holder , he will be citizen in 28 months .

She planning to work under OPT at the end of my program in December 2013.

So she will work January 2014 to January 2015. Plus she will stay during my 60 days of grace so for now she is sure to stay until March 2015 with her husband.

In August 2015 her husband will get the citizenship and will sponsor her to get a green card . So between March and August what are her possibilities ?

If he sponsor her right after our marriage while still under his green card should she get her status adjusted in august 2015 and receive the green card this month or should she wait 5-6 month after August ?

I entered the marriage in faith but we get divorced 8 months after it only .... I had to fill by myself for the 10 years green card .

This morning I just received a notice for the interview .I am super scared that my application will be denied.

We have lots of evidence ( pictures , lease , bank account, medical bills etc...) like everybody else....

My Ex husband is a former military and he write me an affidavit one year ago when I have submitted my application and he will send me a new one for my interview this months.

Does the fact that he was a military counts?

Does the fact that he wrote ma another affidavit counts as well ?

Also I was thinking as a member of the military maybe he would have looked more trustworthy than someone else in the eyes of the agents

If you fill the I-751 by yourself and claim abuse , first go to the police station and report the abuses when they happened.

Your visa does not count what is important is to have:

Valid passport

I-20

Letter from your employer

Pay checks proofs are nice.

You re good to go in theory , if I were you if you can postpone the travel you should do that , traveling while on OPT is not recommended there is always a risk

check with the student office but I just transfered to another school and as long that you have 60 days between your last day of class at your old school and the first day at your new one , you re fine.

At first I wanted to go to California because of my family but even if it is a very nice state it is way too expensive , look elsewhere you will find "affordable programs".

If I were you try to an MBA with a specialization in Information systems , I was looking for an MBA a while ago and even if most of the program are over 35000to 50000 dollars I have found 2 programs fully accredited for less than 25000 for international students and you can do it in 12 to 18 months .

The cost of living is affordable in this areas , the same programs in California would cost you easily 50 000 dollars more lol

That's what I thought , I believed that all the H1b that the Universities gave away were supposed to be for Professor and people with PHd but I noticed in all the universities I have attended all the international office are ran by foreigner who used to be student at the university that's why I wanted to know if in this particular field the student can get a job under H1B.

I just realized that this week end I will investigate at mu university and let you know.

Yes the US are expensive but you need to be smart , did she check all the states or only NY and California ?

There are lots of universities which offer low tuition for MBA , South Dakota university , North Texas , Eastern Washington University .... since the cost of living and the tuitions are lower the bank statements requested can be under 20 000 .Plus with the OPT you can work between your bachelor and master to save some money

I do not know if you need to stay in NY for your family or for other reasons , but if you just want to find a job and save some money for the next 3-5 years before settling down somewhere I would advice you to try to find job in the Midwest or in smaller cities , the cost of living will be more affordable and your job experience might be more appreciated in these areas.

Hello everyone I am currently doing my MBA in the US, I am hoping to find an employer who will sponsor me after my diploma but I am looking for plan B just in case.

I notice in all the school when I have been in the US that the Director and the staff of the international service are all former international student themselves. Do you think I can apply and get sponsored top work in the International service of my University if I do not find a job ?

Does anyone has information or experience about people being sponsor by the Universities ?

After my OPT I have decided to go back to school but my new school will start on my 60th day of grace after the opt . I am confuse if i need to leave the country for one day or is it fine ?

Timeline:

8/1/2011 to 7/31/2012 work under OPT

8/1/2012 to 9/29 60 days of grace

9/29/2012 Start of my new program
