  1. Hi Sarah and Todd,

We are in a similar position to you, I am a UK citizen, desperately missing my husband who lives near Dallas. As he would point out he is in his 40s too, and I am now fairly well established in my 50s :D Do you have plans to be together soon? We got married in July, 2 months ago exactly, and I came home in the afternoon of our wedding day. I am fortunate that he will be here in 12 days time and we will have a mini honeymoon then! I am in Lancashire, but we will be visiting Devon so that he can finally meet his sister in law. We filed our I-130 at the end of August, it got sent to CSC (that was good news) but then got transferred to the NBC in Missouri, and since they don't normally process these cases the site gives no indication of processing times. We are trying very hard to be patient, it is so difficult though!

Hope you soon get your NOA2 :)

    Hey there,

Congratulations on your Wedding in July...sucks you had to leave the same day though!! So glad you will be together soon for your mini honeymoon yaay!! You said you filed at the end of August to CSC but got transferred to the NBC in Missouri. What's the NBC or am I missing something, lol?? We are still waiting on our NOA2 but received an RFE so we are working on getting that together.

Fingers crossed for us all!! Being apart sucks sooooo much :'(

  2. Welcome. We are also in our 40's. My hubby is Scottish and I am the USC. It took about 7 months from the wedding until he had the visa in hand to move here. We did the CR1 route in 2009 and he arrived in 2010. We went through Calif Svc center for the CR1. We live near Boston so it was supposed to be VT but they were backed up and we were transferred. We just got the 10 year GC approval.

It's tough being apart. We talked every day but it was hard. We tried to get together about every 8 weeks even of just for a weekend. It was tough but so worth it! Our original plan was for me to move to UK but after several visits he decided he liked the sunshine and wanted to love here instead. We go back a couple times a year and wish we could go more often.

Where will you be living in the US and out of curiosity where in the UK are you from?

Hey there, thanks for your post!! :) Am so glad your process was a shorter one compared to others. Like I've mentioned before reading others experiences that are positive sure does help you stay focused.

My husband is in Kentucky and I am in Hertfordshire. We can't get together as often as we'd like due to our circumstances but Skype helps ALOT!! My husband would be happy to move to the US but has joint custody of his son and as I don't have any children it's easier for me to relocate. To be honest I don't care where we live as long as we are a family and in the same place, lol!!

  3. Nothing wrong with being hopeful. If you were to get your NOA2 today it would probably take a week or so before your file got to NVC and then around three weeks going through NVC. Of course that is assuming both NVC and USCIS are working at top speed - I don't know where they are at the moment because they seem to constantly speed up one minute and then slow down the next. You can see from my signature how long things were taking this time least year and we were ready to jump as soon as we could at every stage.

Once your interview is scheduled you could contact the Embassy to see if an earlier one were possible.

If you haven't already I would take a look at this thread; it will give you a feel for what is happening at NVC currently and Saylin's guides are very helful:

    Good luck.

Hi Cathy, being hopeful is all we have right now, lol!! Trying hard to be patient....we're not the only ones going through this so it helps to talk to others. Thanks for the link will definitely have a look.

  4. I feel your pain - we went through the exact same thing last year. It seemed to take forever but we were actually pretty lucky and got through the whole process in 7 1/2 months. I have been here for nine months and that long wait and the separation is now just a distant memory!

Congratulations on your marriage and best wishes for a swift journey.

    Cathy

Hi Cathy, Congratulations on finally being with your husband. It sure does help to hear positive stories like yours. We are 3 months in after submitting our I-130...do you think I'm being too hopeful in thinking there is a chance I can move around Christmas? lol

  5. I'm also pretty new here, still learning to navigate the "system" lol. It sure feels like decades of waiting...I'm just lucky my honey is with me physically. Otherwise I would probably have no hair from pulling on it...

Thats wonderful!! (L) Sure makes a difference being with your loved one when you go through stressful times....just a hug can make all the difference, lol!! You certainly appreciate the little things...

  6. Welcome to VJ :) My husband and I filed in July so we're pretty close by...lol

You're still in the approval time-frame...between 3-5 months if I'm not wrong. We're also crossing our fingers and waiting

All the best to us all!

Hi Wakey, still getting used to this site so not sure how the 'personal conversation' works, lol!! Yes, we are 3 months in as of today but it feels like 'years' doesn't it, lol!! All the best to you and your sweetheart....

  7. Just wanted to say welcome and congratulations on your marriage!!!!

I too am a UK resident married to a USC,you're a few months ahead of me but I can certainly understand how much you'll be missing your new husband right now!!!! The process maybe necessary but it feels damn cruel to keep people apart for so long!!!!

I see you're with CSC,and from what I understand that could be a good thing seeing as the Vermont centre is running behind at the moment!!!

Good luck and I hope your journey to be together is a swift one!!!

Hi Lynndy, thanks for the warm welcome. I think this is the hardest thing I have gone through in a loooong time, lol!! It's so easy to feel alone when friends and family just 'don't get it' but reassuring to have others for support going through this 'nitemare' process it's just such a huge shame there ARE so many of us dealing with this.

From what we've read so far you are right being with CSC is a God send and we are SO thankful for that. I just hope we ALL move along quickly with this process. My husband and I both share the same thought that when this is over we would love to stay in contact with others or at least offer our support. God only knows we all need it right?!

    Welcome and good luck!

Safety Chick...thank you for the warm welcome!! Good luck to you and your sweetheart :)

Hallo and welcome to Visa Journey

if you file the I-130 in June you should click this http://www.visajourn...2-i-130-filers/

    you are not alone

    Good luck :star:

Thank you Jason and Shifa....it's hard NOT to feel alone, lol I think this site may well be our life saver!! I did post on that link so thank you....oh how I wish this process was much easier on us all, lol *sigh*

  8. Hi everyone,

My husband and I are new to this site and have found comfort in knowing we are not alone. We are in the 40+ bracket....yikes!! :/ I'm British and my husband American. We got married in April 2012 and haven't seen eachother since...ugh!!! We filed our I-130 in June and haven't heard anything since.....not sure if that is a good or bad thing, LOL!!

Anyway, wanted to say hi to everyone and am hoping to meet other couples in a similar situation geographically/same timeline. We sure as hell could do with the support!!

    God Bless everyone!!
