We have everything put together thus far, but are missing the proof of ongoing relationship. What should we use as proof of ongoing relationship? I have read that phone bills are a good source, but mine will show calls coming from the US because I created a Google account for her, where she can use Google voice, and we assigned a local US number to the account so every time she calls, is shows up as a local number. Please advice.
wow! what you did with the google voice is smart. please inbox the instructions to show my fiancé.
But to answer your question, you can print the google record and write an explanation of why it shows USA area code instead of a local area code. Also, if you have chat records from any app, print and send.
good luck with your petition.

Hello VJ Friends,
I will like to know the total wait time on the CR1 visa. The reason is, We're thinking if it's better to marry my current fiance and petition for him to come here or go the K1 visa route. I already know for Ghana embassy, it takes 8 to 10 months from the petition date to the date he gets his K1 visa. But I do not know the exact date for the CR1 visa in Ghana. I have looked at the timeline for the CR1 and I am still confuse in determining the estimated length of time. Anyone with any ideas, please help me out. Will really need to know this.
Thanks a lot!

Two things come to mind, African time and shopping for the best deal.
African time, the attitude that soon means this year and quickly can take weeks. Every time I visited the plans for the day were started the night before. So we would start the morning by doing X. However the next day would start with breakfast taking forever, then soeone would be dropping something by and they would always be stuck in traffic, then it would be lunch time and why eat on the road, and then .... so whatever X was, we would get there about 3 pm and all other activities would be added to the following days schedule.
Shopping for the best deal. Many people from 3rd world countries will make several contacts in an effort to immigrate to the US. They will then see which one pans out best or is the most attractive. Because immigration is a family matter the whole family will smile and greet each contestant with equal joy and the immigrant to be will decide ( usually in african time ) which one is best suited to be his stepping stone to the US.
Hopefully it is just a bad case of african time.
Thanks, you're right about the African time. hopefully things will get better between them stay positive

No it wouldn't because the baby hasn't been born yet so nothing to worry about. Congrats to both of you!

The last time I saw my fiancé was January 7th. We try to see each other every 1-2 months. Hopefully I get to see him in February.
is in the air....that is sweet that you two see each other as often.

I haven't seen my Love since January 7th, 2013 and we will not see each other again until May 25th. This will be the longest we have gone without being together, but we chat each night and skype as well. As someone who was never patient, I have learned a lot and look at each day as one to prepare for the happy ending that WILL come.
I am in the same boot. I was a very impatient person until I started dating my very long distance Prince. I miss him so much and wish I can see him at least every weekend. Thank God for this site that brought all of us love birds together for the emotional support.

After reading other posts on here, I really don't think they'll ask about his education background. they're more interested in making sure your marriage is real or not and not about his smartness. My only advice is, don't say anything unless they ask. I've been reading many posts from people that had completed their interview, nada about education. So do not worry about getting a denial. just don't mention it in the interview if they didn't ask. if they ask then tell them the truth. and be persuasive about the reasons you lied. but going forward, never lie onyour application or interview. Ghana is a high fraud country, so be careful and be truthful at all times. Even someone from Ghana lie saying he was visiting his Cousin and later applied for the K1 visa. the consular caught on it but was given a visa after a strong debut with the consular.
Good luck on your long journal!

Unless you have a special case or come from a high fraud consulate and feel like you need an Evolution of Relationship letter, then I would keep it short and sweet.

I am a Canadian with a pregnant US girlfriend. She is a green card holder soon to become a US citizen next year.
I want to visit her for the birth of the baby and stay for a few months to help out before returning to Canada. How long can I stay and what do I tell the border agent when they ask for the purpose of my visit?
Secondly, would having a baby affect the K1 application for when we decide to marry?
1. I am not sure if she has applied for you on the K1 visa, but she is illegible for the K1 unless she becomes a USC.
2. Canadians coming to the US is quick and easy. Just have your CAN passport on hand. When you get to the boarder tell them you are going to visit your girlfriend. You don't need visa as long as you are a CAN. But to be certain, please call the US embassy in CAN and find out about how long you can stay inn the US. But there's flexibility on the CAN citizens.
3. Not sure when you are planning on getting married, but if you two do get married and she becomes USC, she can't file for you under the K1. Instead, she will file for you under the CR1 visa. It takes about a year to get the visa to permanently stay in the US.
Congrats to you and your significant other on your baby!
Having your significant other in the USC is awesome! I wish mine was in CAN I will visit him every weekend .

Hello,
Most Ghanaian men love respect from their ladies. They love it when you give them the driver seat. Be submissive to him at all times. Do not yell, scream, swear, or put them down in any way. You will be expected to up keep the home; cooking, cleaning, decorating, taking care of the children and him (not financially). It is important you create a binding relationship with his family, especially his parents. Allow your guy to take care of the home financially and always make his opinion count. It is important you are faithful and honest. I will post links and I will strongly advice you read the articles so you can start learning what to expect until your hubby to be adjusts himself to the American culture. Do not expect a lot from him when it comes to affection after marriage (LOL). But over time, I am sure he'll understand. I am USC and dating a Ghanaian man also. Let me know if you have any questions. Hopefully this helps answer your questions. All the articles are 95 percent true about Ghanaian men.

Hi everyone. To God be the glory and when He leads you, there is no were you will go and fail.Just have faith and everything will happen in a twink of an eye.It was 5:00 am here when my day started yesterday to the U.S Embassy.Got there like 6:40 am and there were a lot of people there already. So we waited for them to call us in front of the door for us to get in.I did get in and my nervousness broke in but then it wasn't showing so it ok lol.I submitted my appointment letter and then i sat down for my name to be called.Sat like 30 minutes and my name was called to window 1.it was a Ghanaian woman which she said i should bring all my stuff out and hand it to her.She was mean but then i kept my smiley face alive for her. After checking she said i should go to the cashier to go pay for my visa fee which i did and then sat down again for my name to be called.Sat like 20 minutes and then i was called again to finger print which i think it was to verify my passport. Then i went and sat again for like an hour. Was still nervous and i saw some people smiling with their visa collection ticket which i said to myself i am getting one before i leave here.So i was called up finally and then i knew it was the interview because i was called by a white lady..Got to the window and she said i should raise my right hand and so help me God.
1. who is the one filing for me?
2. When was the last time i saw her?
3. For how long were we together?
4. How long have we been together?
5. Do i have kids?
6. Does my fiancee have kids?
7. What are their dates of births?
8. when do we plan on getting married?
9. Do we have a specific date on when we getting married?
Then she said you have been approved and come on friday for your visa and then when i turned to walk away my eyes were filled with tears that i don't know how to stop it.It was a moment of pure joy.First is to call my fiancee because she didn't sleep all night waiting on me.There are times were you think things will go wrong because you don't qualify.Turn your head to the Lord and ask Him to lead and guide you..We fall beyond the poverty lines which i posted to see there will be any help but there wasen't and then people are like you will not be approved because it was not enough. We said to ourselves we will submit it and leave it to the Lord. Here we are..He has done it!!!
WOW CONGRATS! You and your fiancé are our inspirations. My fiancé and I will soon be going thru the long journey and he lives in Ghana. Thanks for posting your story here.

Let me get this straight.
Her parents have a successful business and makes good money in Ghana, and yet they still want to to come live in the US, let you raise their child when they go off to live on their own, or would all five of you (you, your fiancee, the two parents, and the child) live together in one house?
Does any of this make common sense to anyone?
My wife and I will leave our successful business where we make good money to come to live in America and struggle, and then leave another person to raise our child when we go to live in our own place.
you're thinking the American way. we're African and I don't expect you to understand. enjoy your day buddy

Well if they win DV you no longer wants the adopted daughter here?
My baby girl will stay with me. why wouldn't I not want her lol. She's my princess. Love her unconditionally. They'll be staying with me becausE I'm the only person they know and my baby girl stays with me if they're moving into their own home. My love for my baby girl is endless and I'll do anything to make her happy. She is so smart and entertaining love her so very much! I miss her so much!!!

You stated the adoption was to make the girl your adopted daughter and not to get her a beneficiary benefit. So, if her parents can immigrate to the US, "it will be possibly for them to live here with THEIR daughter." So, it seems that living in America is more important than her becoming your daughter. This is why the "adopting my friends' daughter" because I want her to be my daughter and not for an immigration benefit is BS to US immigration. The adoption is only for an immigration benefits because everyone with common sense knows that she will always have two real parents in Ghana who she calls mother and father. She would also have an adopted Mother who brought her to the US to live and who she calls auntie.
for the record, if they immigrant to the USA, they'll be staying with me. And if they find their own place the girl remines with me. Not sure what part wasn't understood. I want her to know her parents always and if Ghana had a flexibility on adoption, I'll definitely adopt my princess. I'm going to go Ghana in July for two months to spoil her like I always do. My fiance and I will take her to places too like I did November when I got there. She was name after me and they refer her as my junior girl. The parents are doing well in Ghana. They have a successful business while the husband makes good money. They aren't struggling at all. Love her so very much and can't wait to be with her and take her places....
-
Thanks everyone that contributed their advice to my post. I will not do the adoption instead just continue to help her out. So I will only go there to see the girl instead of bringing her here to live with me. Hopefully her parents win the DV then it will be possible for them to live here with their daughter.
Thanks all & good night.

The childs parent would need to die, you and your husband would need to live with the child in your custody in Ghana for 2 years, then you can apply for adoptive visa.
Well eversince she was born, her parents name me as a second Mom for her. They even wanted me to adopt her right away. but I decided to wait. I even provide financial support for her since she was burn. Please note that this has nothing with her only coming here for citizenship status. The girl is like my daughter. She gets anything she wants from me. I went to see her last summer and will go back this summer. So, how do I bring her here to live with me. Thanks

Hello,
I'm a usc and my long time friends want me to adopt their 7yr old daughter to bring here from Ghana. How do I do it.
Both of the parents live in Ghana and so is their daughter. How likely for this to happen and what are the steps that need to be taken?
thanks

Good question hopefully someone can help you answer.

It's been 35 days and I am going to see her again in 23 days, which means total 58 days apart. Next trip after that lined up in 60 days again. Hopefuly the trip after that will be at the time of her visa interview. Yeah, it costs money and takes time, but nothing is more important to me than being with my love.
Awww so sweet! wishing your love a successful interview at the embassy.

Its been 7 months
I've recently applied for a tourist visa to visit him in his country , but the Pakistani Embassy in Chicago is taking so so long to approve my visit. I am wondering if they will approve it all.
When my fiance went for his interview in Islamabad the US embassy kept his passport. He has wrote several times and asked for it back so that he could visit me in a third country , but the embassy is ignoring his request.
Im not sure when I can see him again ... but the minutes are like days
I'm very sorry to hear that the embassy, is preventing you from seeing your love. All we have to do is pray and stay positive. also, as one poster said don't count the days because it'll seem like eternity. Hope they'll approve the visa so you can finally see each other very soon.
Last October, and I'll be seeing here again in Sofia in less than three weeks.
Very nice...

Listen to the previous post to have adoption pApers because years later after becoming citizen, and you want to petition for them, you'll be asked to do a DNA. So just make it clear that these are your Guardians and not your biological parents. Good luck to you.

Last time I saw my honey in person was February 29, 2011 at the airport. With my new job not giving me any vacation until I have worked here a year, I don't think I will be able to go back until September. That will make 18 months apart...unless something great happens with his visa
18mos is such a Very long time. Hope his visa gets approval very soon.

Hey Tosh Love,
You have nothing to worry about. If you are a believer, just keep praying and all will go well. Honestly, I read lots of the reviews and I rarely saw any denials. Just overload them with plenty of evidence and PRAY PRAY PRAY and all will go well with you on your approval. What you heard about Ghana not getting many approvals is false because so far haven't read about anyone that has been denied. So keep the faith God is in control.
