  1. We completed DS-260 3-4 days before the interview and took printout of confirmation receipt with me. We got approved without any issues. Its online filing of the form. So, it is not going to take time. You can do it. smile.png

I believe you have already submitted all the documents to NVC and you now have your interview date and your case is with embassy.

  2. Hello,

Somehow, both my lawyer and I missed doing the DS-260. I happened to find out about it just yesterday, and aim to complete it tomorrow. I see that it mentions sending some documents to the NVC. My wife's interview is in 2 weeks. Has anyone else completed the DS-260 that close to the interview date and still been approved for their visa at the interview??

    Thanks.

  3. Hi Hunny bunny,

    Thanks for sharing this.

But I would like to know when u have issued your PCC at that time did your passport get stamped with country name ( intended to migrate) or not mentioned country name with stamp?

They did stamp my passport with the country name.

And next time I visited their office to get updated PCC, they didn't issue me a new one because they said they cannot issue a PCC before 6 months.

  4. Ok so I showed my husband your post and he said he will show it to his lawyer mad.gif . U didnt use a lawyer did you? He also asked exactly which documents you needed to get the process started (which ones your husband sent you before he came). He also said that the Special marriage act has more than one section and he asked which one you used.

Thank you again for your help.

    Please reply soon good.gif

We used a lawyer. It was perhaps Section 5 under which we had given notice. I'm not sure though.

And for the process, he mailed us some forms which we had to sign. My husband signed it and sent us scanned copy. I had to sign it in front of the Marriage Registrar. We also mentioned in the court that it was hard for him to come here for notice and he would come for legal wedding.

Our parents (my and his parents) were there though.

Here is the link to forms.

We used the page 1 forms for the notice.

Also, some other documents like his driving license, his passport, my residence proof in India, my identity proofs were required.

  5. We got married under Special Marriage Act in Nov 2012. Under this act, any two religions can get married.

For this, we had to file court notice a month before the date of legal marriage. I did that on behalf of both of us. My husband mailed me the docs with his signatures, and our lawyer filed for court notice in district court in Oct 2012. (which states that we want to get married and if anybody has any problems, they could report it in a month. We had to give newspaper publications as well.)

After a month was over, we took appointment and my husband came for 2 weeks for legal wedding. They issued us Marriage Certificate on the spot.

    This is what wiki says:

    1. marriage performed under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 is a civil contract and accordingly, there need be no rites or ceremonial requirements.[5]
    2. The parties have to file a Notice of Intended Marriage in the specified form to the Marriage Registrar of the district in which at least one of the parties to the marriage has resided for a period of not less than thirty days immediately preceding the date on which such notice is given.[6]
    3. After the expiration of thirty days from the date on which notice of an intended marriage has been published, the marriage may be solemnized, unless it has been objected to by any person.
    4. The marriage may be solemnized at the specified Marriage Office.[6]
    5. Marriage is not binding on the parties unless each party states "I, (A), take thee (B), to be my lawful wife (or husband)," in the presence of the Marriage Officer and three witnesses.[6]

We would be happy to help if you need more information on this.

  6. Hello,

It seems like from the timelines that I'm reading, it's taking about 2 months from case complete to interview. Is this true? It's hard to tell because users aren't really filling out their timelines.

Depends on when NVC schedules interviews. If somebody is too close to scheduling, then he would get date for next month.

But recently there is little delay in getting interviews. We got out case complete on 10th July, and got scheduled (scheduling happened at end of July) for 16th of Sept. Since, scheduling happened at end of July, people who got approvals even till 28th July, got Sept date.

    Hope this answers your question.

  7. they provide u with options for either pickup or mailing....i had already created a profile at ustravel.docs before the interview and optioned for a pickup.

the american lady told me 10 days after approving the visa. we can check the status online or call them up after a couple of days. im planning on calling on monday...since saturday sunday is a holiday.

    all the best for yours.

Thank you for the info. :)

please let us know when you get it in hand :D

  8. 1. What is the visa fee? Is this $165

    2. I heard that USCIS ELIS website is to pay for green card? When will my husband receive instructions for that? And what is the fee?

I've these same questions. Can somebody please answer this?

  9. I need to send documents to my Husband so he will have them handy during his Visa interview.

What is the Fastest and Safest way to mail them to India? Is FedEx any good? Please help!

We have used Fedex few times to send documents from US to India and vica versa. We used the Fedex express delivery and received the documents within 2-3 days.

We were happy with the services every time.

  10. When you applied for PCC at passport office, did they give you more than 1 copy,

if so, then we can submit 1 copy to NVC and keep the other to take to interview

am i correct? is it possible to request more copies of PCC at possport office?

They gave us 3 copies. We had sent two copies to NVC already. and We have one copy with us to take to the interview.
