  1. Thanks for the reply. I don't even know for sure if uscis even sent anything. I won't find out till the 27th. But I checked with my friends neighbor and with the post office. If something was sent and was not delivered it is almost immediately sent back to the sender. I'm just hoping that they actually sent a receipt. Even if i don't have it, it will feel better knowing that they accepted the application. ..

  2. So, I mailed in the I-751 on June 26, it got there the next day on the 27. I am getting stationed to New Mexico, we are moving today. I was sure to put the address change on the application AND changed it online. We have yet to receive anything, unfortunately it was do to the address being wrong. We just noticed it today!! It was given to me wrong, so I didn't know until I asked my friend today if the address was good. I called USCIS just now, and they said they can't get any information until 30 days after they receive the application. Which will be July 27th. Her green card expires August 9th!

Now, I tripled checked the application and made sure it was filled right. Provided awesome evidence (life insurance with her as beneficiary, joint bank account, child birth certificate, joint tax return etc.) as well as the fee. Package was good to go. BUT let's say that they have to return it for some reason, to fix something....will I have enough time before her expiration date to get it processed? Even if I mail it next day?? Will they send me a receipt regardless of it needing to be fixed or if it is good to go?

I'm not losing hope yet. I'm noticing that people are getting their letter anywhere from 1-5 days. Just need to also prepare for the worse. I just need to know what I should start looking into, just in case....

  3. Hi all! I have not been here in about....2 years :)

It is currently 1:14 am in Arizona as I type this. Out of the blue I decided to research about removing the condition on my wife's green card. That is when I saw the rule on fling 90 days before her card expires. I have completely forgot about the time frame!! Her card expires 9 Aug 2015. I'm getting stationed in another base, in which I leave for on July 15. I am going to try and send the I-751 today. We have the evidence of the bona fide marriage and all that and even had a beautiful baby girl on May 1st this year.

My question is, what else should I send, since my package is cutting it VERY close to the expiration date? We literally have no excuse on the issue, other than "we forgot". Also, if it comes down to her card expiring before we can get a notice of receipt, what exactly are the consequences after she leaves the country? Will it mean us having to go through the entire immigration process? Will she be barred from coming back for a while? Permanently? Has the notice of receipt been a letter or email....or both?

The reason I mentioned the fact that I'm being stationed in another base is also to ask about a forwarding address. We have not been able to find a place to live over there yet, can I use our friends address for now ?(they are at the new base already). I know where to go to change it online.

I just want to thank everyone in advance, every single package I assembled to get my wife here was modeled after the guides on here.

    Thank you,

    Jet

  4. Hello all,

Just shy under a year of this immigration process, we got notified that her interview will be on Aug 13th!!! From reading the reviews and actually calling the embassy, IF she gets her visa, it's usually the same day. Or at most 2 days. August is fast approaching and my plans were completely shot down at work to go over there, interview with her, and guide her back to the States; due to low manning (life in the military ranting33va.gif ). Her english is good enough to get by, but not perfect. Her travels in Europe have only dealt with small airports with very simple immigration checks. But we are both confident she can make it on her own.

Now, I know it's not recommended to start buying tickets just yet. I've only bought tickets online through the generic websites such as travelocity, hotels.com, expedia etc... Does anyone have any tips concerning buying them now? I might be wrong since I never had to do it, but can I reschedule a flight for a later date? (incase she does get denied) Do you have any recommendations on WHERE to buy one? Do I myself have to plan accordingly to make sure she goes through a port of entry......or are all airports in the States, where she lands first, a port of entry? That question comes from my understanding of airports.

I've spent a lot of time and energy researching the parts of getting her visa.......I just now started on what happens AFTER she gets one. So, from what I've learned so far; She will be getting a visa packet along with her visa in her passport. That packet is to be given to immigrations at the airport she land in?

Will she go through another interview? Requiring evidence?

Thank you all for the help on this. This website has thought me and other friends with foreign spouses all the info to get through this process. My wife and I have had enough on being separated for so long (difficult for me to take leave). We both just want to be together as soon as humanly possible....

  5. Hello all.

Just need some clarification on what happens if I cancel the visa process for my wife. She is still in Europe and her papers are near the final stages at the NVC. I'm pretty sure the next step is to be sent ton the embassy in Romania.

Well, things are changing. I've decided not to reenlist in the military and move to Europe to live with her. This has been a year in planning, and the final decision was made. Since she will not end up coming here, Im sure she will not get the visa we were working on. We don't mind that. What we want to make sure is that this wont affect her obtaining a visa in the future in an adverse way. We plan to visit here, so a tourist visa would suffice in the future. Will the non completion of oue current process affect that in the future?

Just something we want to make sure of. If it does we wont mind either way. The visa is just for us to be together...

  6. Well, just an update on this issue. I just got off the phone with the NVC regarding me resending the police certificate. I left a note on it stating it is a copy because the original was sent with the package. Which they seem to have lost. They did receive it and review it. Now they are saying it can't be a copy! I was told that a copy should be good since I did actually send them the original. They also keep saying that they have her police certificate from Maldova......SHES NEVER BEEN THERE. Nor did I send any paper work with that word in it dry.png. This is an easy fix, but will require more and more time to fix.

After almost a whole year being seperated, I was able to put down for leave and I fly out on Monday to visit my wife sad.png. I'm in the military and we are low manned where I work. Taking leave is a bit of a challenge. We will run to her home town to get a new police certificate.........

  7. Looks my my DS230 package is being reviewed. Unfortunately I received an email stating that I needed to send in the police certificate for my wife.....which I'm 100% sure I did. Even made copies of the package before sending it off. When I called the NVC to inquire about this they said "We have the certificate for Moldova, but we also need the Romanian one since she is from Romania"

My wife has never stepped foot in Moldova wacko.png , and the certificate sent in with the package clearly states, in english, "Romania Police Certificate" . After explaining that to him, then stated that he "guess they are not requesting Maldova" and to just send in the police certificate again. I asked if a copy will suffice since I did after all send the original to them. He said yes.

Has anyone ever experienced this? I could see papers getting lost, but papers possibly getting mixed with other cases??

  8. Hi, all. I sent my package last month to the Phoenix office. That was around Sept 12th. Then it got sent to California and from there to Lee Summit, MO. From checking online and calling them, my package is under the initial review stage. My question is in regard to the bonified marriage part. I sent my marriage certificate copy, bank account statement with both our names on it, and renters insurance policy letter with both our names. From reading the requirements on this site, USCIS, and the Romanian embassy site, I've come to understand that photos were not necessarily required. I did not send any photos, except the passport ones on the G-325. Has anyone else done this? Will they ask for photos while in the USCIS offices? I thought that would have been more than enough as proof, since it shows joint financial mingling. I'm noticing that some are sending stuff like chat logs, flight itineraries, and passport stamps.

I'm not too worried about my package, since I followed the guide on it to the T. I just now feel like I provided the minimum when it comes to proof.

  9. Hello all. I was just about to start a thread on this issue. I'm in the same boat as some of you. My petition for my wife was transferred to Missouri from California on Sept 21. I'm hoping it reduces the processing time. I received the hard copy for it a few days ago. Which brings me to another question. I never received the initial hard copy of them receiving my package. I've called and asked if I can get another one, they said no. I'm just saving all my papers and want to know if I will need that hard copy in the future?

My wife is Romanian by the way. I met her while I was stationed in Italy. Missing her more and more everyday :(

  10. I really can not thanks you guys enough for the help on this. I made the package and mailed it in today. It should be in the Phoenix USCIS sometime today. I'm stationed in Arizona. I followed the guide to the t. I'm fairly confident that I filled out the paperwork correctly. However, until my petition gets approved I will not feel any less stressed. At least the process has somewhat started though. Thanks again, this website is great. I'm the first from my group of friends in similar situations to have started anything at all. If everything goes well, I at the very least, can point them in the right direction...

  11. Hello again. Looks like a need a little bit more help on the paperwork. Need some specifics on what to turn in. For the bonified marriage part, can I turn in a regular bank statement? It is a joint account. Shows the account info and has my wife's and I names on it. It of course also shows my address. Also, my bank was able to put her under my renters insurance. What I have from them is a page with a small paragraph describing the policy and it has both our names as well. Will that also count?

    The G-325A bio form.

For me- Can I put my military addresses (apo, fpo) on the history part. In some bases, our living quarters didn't have physical addresses. And on the bases in which I lived off base, do I list my physical address, or my apo (which i received all my mail in)?

For her- (Address history part) One of her addresses is too long to put in one line. Can I continue writing it on the line below it or will I have to add a blank sheet with the full address and have it referenced?

Lastly- On the bottom, where it says "this form is submitted in connection with and application for;" Do I check other and write "i-130"?

Paperwork in Romania is usually given with multiple translations. My marriage certificate is both in Romanian and English, same paper. Do I still need to get that translated? Same goes for her birth certificate.

Annnnd last one. On the I-130 it asks last address we both stayed together in. It was in Italy, and she stayed with me for about 4-5 months. There is no record I can show that she stayed with me. In the EU, they can stay in another country with out papers as long as they don't decide to work. She's never had to use her ID or passport for anything other then the flight into and out of Italy. Do I still put that address? and does it also have to reflect on the G-325?. Will this end up requiring her to get a police certificate from Italy in the future? Again, she really has no record there.

Thanks again in advance for the help on this. I've called the USCIS with this questions, and they can't give me a straight answer. They simply read prepared speeches. They keep telling me that they never heard of the CR1 process either....(one said it "doesnt event exist, might want to look online before you file paperwork" o_0

  12. I can not thank you enough for this. Like I said, I want to bring my wife over legally and fast, but safely as well. I've posted on several forums and done research elsewhere. The answers have always been on both sides. But I am choosing the CR1 way, and isn't it cheaper? As for getting my stuff expedited. I believe that is only for the ones who will soon be deploying. I will look it up again, but I'm sure it's that.

  13. Hello all!

New guy here. Just trying to get a straight answer on my options on bringing my wife over. I've done extensive research and even consulted a lawyer. I am comfortable with doing the paperwork on my own. But like most of us here, I'm not comfortable with the amount of time I have to be away from my lovely wife.

I met my wife in Romania after coming back from deployment when I was stationed in Italy. We just got married in July. We tried getting married in March, but got held back due to my birth certificate and apostille getting lost in the mail. July was also my moving time. I am now stationed in the US. We have yet to start the immigration paperwork. Mainly because of the gathering of the paperwork, which is still in progress. Also because I'm trying to figure what route to take on bringing her here. I want to do things right and fast. From speaking with the lawyer and researching online, I've been looking into the b1/b2 visa. I understand that it is possible to adjust that visa while she is in the states. My concern is, is it legal?

    - I contacted the USCIS and asked that question. What I got was "as long as she is here legally it can be adjusted.....just can't guarantee that you won't run into problems"

    - Lawyer recommended me into doing this :"get her here legally and file the I-130 and I-485 at the same time"

-Romanian embassy told my wife right on the phone: "you do not qualify at all for it, because you are married". When I called them myself, they said "she is allowed to get it, as long as she can show she will come back to Romania, and because she is married to me it will be hard". Also, with the way they explained it to me, the process of adjusting the B1/B2 visa.......is downright illegal. I just want to get a clear answer on this. I do want to bring her here fast, if possible and legal. My initial plan was to bring her here on that visa and adjust, while doing the rest of her permanent residency stuff. I believed it would not only keep us together, but it would be more convenient, since she would be here in person.

On to the immigrant visas. So from my understanding, there is the K3 and CR1 process. K3, I've read and got told by my the lawyer, can help with reducing the waiting time of being separated. From researching online and talking with the lawyer, as well as the USCIS, this seems like a common route for couples in my situation.

Now, from MORE researching online and talking with the embassy in Romania..........it doesn't exist anymore o_0. "There is no such visa, to have your wife wait with you in the states while getting the other papers done"- US embassy in Romania.

I understand what needs to be done first in starting the permanent residency stuff, and the waiting periods. I would say I understand the process good enough to do it on my own. I just need clarity on what I can do in bringing my wife over. We are prepared to handle the waiting time, it is stressing me out and I have my even more stressful job to look forward to, but I know we can make it through the waiting time.

I hope I didn't lose you guys through my random story telling. Just need to know the pros and cons of each. Which is the best route:

    -CR1?

    -K3?

    -B1/B2 Visa?

I plan on asking to get stationed back in Europe in about 2 years. Will I able to finish this ordeal before then?

Thanks in advance. I currently have 2 other friends who were stationed with me in Italy and now here in the states with me. Both also with European girls :). This will also help them in certain areas.

    Thanks again
