Wagner happens to be an acquaintance of my uncle, and we met one night while I was out for dinner and drinks with my family. We exchanged in light conversation, and as a result hours flew by and I was truly moved by his great personality and charm. With the exchange of phone numbers, we met up frequently in my short stay and before I left Costa Rica we committed to maintaining a long distance relationship. During our time spent apart Wagner and I have communicated via Skype, phone, texts, greeting cards and care packages. As the relationship progressed, it was difficult for me to go to Costa Rica again as I was still attending Kean University studying for my Bachelors in elementary education and Spanish. In May of 2009 summer break finally came around and I took a month off to go and spend time with my and Wagner’s family. We spent every moment we could together when he wasn’t working on his father’s farm. Exerting in many activities such as, camping, horseback riding, beach trips, dinners, and more; the time flew by!
Upon my return I realized how much I missed and loved him and how serious our relationship had become, so after talking with Wagner I decided to double my course load at Kean and we agreed that I would continue taking classes through the following summer to expedite my graduation date of January 2012. After almost two years of commuting to classes and working nights and weekends, in March 2011 my parents bought me a surprise 10 day ticket to Costa Rica! I was elated; finally, I am able to see Wagner again! The trip felt eternal and I could barely contain my excitement to see the man that took my breath away. When I finally get off at his bus stop in Buenos Aires, he is standing there waiting with open arms and happily brings me up to dinner with his family. After dinner I am sitting with his family at the table talking when Wagner comes out carrying a dessert plate with whipped cream and cherries and in the middle is the box. I sat in awe as he kneeled to the ground and pulled out the ring and asked me to spend the rest of my life by his side as his wife. Red cheeked and full of love I ecstatically said yes!
Afterwards and for the duration of my stay, we talked about our future and the inevitable hardships we are going to have to face; but after so much dedication on both parts, we knew that this is just going to be another long road we would have to travel in our journey towards happiness. Wagner has shown me the bright side of life, guided me mentally towards my ultimate goals, and overall shown me that everything is possible with faith, love, and happiness. Our ultimate goal in life to be completely happy together in New Jersey, starting off small with my family, marriage in the Catholic Church, than to one day being on our own. The dreams of our first house, creating a family, finding a promising jobs, and health are in prevalent in our minds. I cannot wait to marry this man who has changed me completely.
Thanks! Good luck to you as well. Once you get to the Costa Rican embassy part, I answer any questions you may have . It's a piece of cake, just a lesson in patience and waiting. But it's great to have my Tico here with me in the US now .
