  1. Congrats RoughE! That is very fast. I notice that you are not case complete as yet from your timeline. Is it ok to take PCC even before case complete?

One more question, did you include spouse name in the passport application while applying for PCC? Elsewhere on VJ, I saw differing opinions for this topic - One opinion is that it is ok to apply as 'single' in the application for PCC (logic given is that because spouse name is not included in passport, it is better to go as 'single' even for PCC. Else, if we include spouse name, it involves re-issue of visa which could take another 45 days). The other opinion is that it is better to include spouse name and then apply for PCC (logic is that somebody was denied PCC when spouse name was not included).

Do you think it depends on the location of application (I am from Andhra Pradesh). Please share your experience.

It is alright to get a PCC now coz its validity is for 6 months and please go as a married, use the same passport (no need to change), but take your original marriage certificate with you, just in case they ask (they didn't ask me though). I dont understand the logic though, if you find anything let me know.

  2. Dept. of State Reciprocity table says that you need it from Passport office. http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9215#docs

A friend of mine who did IR-1 in 2011 (Keralite, with Chennai consulate) took it from their local passport office, not Police Station.

I guess you are also in Chennai's jurisdiction

Thank you so much, this does make a lot of sense, I never would have known there are two types of Police Clearances :)

  3. Hi!

I just have the NVC case number which I got on wednesday.

I want to be prepared with the Immigration Visa documents, Police clearance is one of them, It takes months to have this certificate.

I checked the website saying that they require a

    • PCC requirement letter from consulate or acknowledgment copy of application submitted at consulate for visa or instructions of the concerned country for PCC.

    http://apps.appolice.gov.in/pcchyderabad/instructions.aspx

What form should I give to have it accepted?

I am assuming a copy of the i130 application form and NOA2 should do, Please throw some light on this issue.....

  5. I also got my case numer on Wednesday, just waiting for the AOS fee to be invoiced. Do you know how long it takes and for the ds-261(ds3032 online form) to be available? its saying something about that is currently not available.

I didn't fill in the online DS3032 form, but I e-mailed them with the template given on the link below: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/433472-nvc-filers-june-2013/

I know ! I foresee 11 rounds of revision for you, in the next 72 hours.

    :D

  6. You can start by gathering applicant documents since these take time to put together. You should get the email some time next week since this week is short due to July 4 Holiday. There numerous links on here for the i230 check list so you should check them out and strt getting the docs together.

Thanks for the quick response, Is it i230? I am just confused coz never heard of this. What do these applicant documents consist of?

  7. Hello All,

I called NVC yesterday and got my NVC case number, it appears to be of Mumbai Consulate, I gave them e-mail addresses of me and my spouse, How long do I have to wait before they contact me?

Do they contact through E-mail or Snail mail?

What set of documents are to be exchanged at this point with the NVC?

Is there anything I need to be ready with before they mail me?

Please throw some light on this subject:

Thanks in Advance for all the help you guys have been doing.

  8. Hi there!

I got my NOA2 and Its been 3 weeks, didn't get my case number yet, called NVC but they say they haven't received so far.

I have a few questions, I would be glad if someone guides me please:

    1) How will the NVC contact me? (e-mail or mail), if I didn't call them.

    2) My USC wife now lives with me, so how if any communication is sent to her by NVC?

    3) Is there a way I can opt for electronic processing?

    4) Could someone please provide me with a clear link to how to proceed step by step from USCIS to NVC?

Thanks in advance, May god bless you all for helping each other.

  9. Hello VJs,

Firstly, Thank you all for being so supportive as as well as informative. Couldn't really have come processed my application without your help. I got my 130 approved on June 11, 2013. However there are few things deep down in my heart that I would like you to clear.

My wife is coming to stay with me next month (July 10) and her return date is December 10, 2013. I expect my interview to be scheduled in between this time and I am worried about the affidavit of support. While she will still be domiciled in US (not spending 6 months in India), she is a student and works part time at Dunkin donuts. Her uncle (mother's brother) is ready to become a co-sponsor for my Visa and It is as per the requirement (will suffice the application requirement).

    1) How should I proceed with this? Should I ask her to move back to US or she can stay with me (we are going to malaysia for our honeymoon). How is this going to affect my application?

    2) My Previous F1 visa was issued and revoked because I had approached a consultancy which was helping me prepare the documents was caught in a fraud. All my friends who approached through that consultancy were either denied or got their visas revoked. Few of my closest friends applied again and got their Visas approved for F1. (which indicates that I am not banned completely). However I haven't applied after that again.

    3) The person I have married is my first cousin (we being muslims, its not really that weird). It is obvious that people (CO) would think that I married to have entry to the states, but this is not true. I love her more than anything else and its just as genuine as any other real marriage would be, We cant really think of a life without eachother.

I know there is a LOT of stuff which would hold me back for years (may be forever) but I want your help to over come it or at least prepare for it. PLEASE HELP!!!

(I am ready for any information if you need)

Just for the record, She is in IL where First cousin marriages are banned. We got married in India.

  11. she will eventually have to file an affidavit of support which will include how much she earns or has in savings.. for a 130 this will be at the nvc stage.. plenty of threads about this out there if you search for it

Thanks for the quick reply bro, She is still pursuing her college as a full time student and she is coming to me taking a semester off, can her parents act as joint sponsors? please let us know what are the various options when she is still a student. Thanks in advance.

  12. Just when I started to get excited about my wife (USC) coming back to live with me for next 3-4 months (in India), I heard from someone that she cannot live for so long as I need to show her source of income from past 6 months to the consular before I approach for interview. Please clarify me if my partner can live with me in India or will she have to go back in few weeks to work there and show the source of income? Confused
