  1. Our experience was this.

The officer will ask some general questions but not embassy type of questions. Mostly your name, birthday, what town you are going to, husband/fiancee name etc. This is just to ensure you and your paperwork match. Mostly the officer will type info into the PC and look over your papers to be sure all is correct. If there is an error it can be corrected there and not cause you grief later on when you apply for your green card, ROC etc.

You have already gone through extensive screening/interviews before your POE by the embassy. I doubt you will have any issues.

Thank You so much Gary for your help! :)

  2. My fiance is about to go to her medical exam, problem is she has had some kind of cold this past week and she still has some congestion in her chest and nasal passages. So will this make her unable to get the x-ray or other testing done and would they make her come back to retake the exam, or will it not interfere with the testing she needs?

We're just wondering if she should wait to travel to Manila to do the testing, or if she can go through with it by Tuesday. Thanks in advance!

I advice to her to take a medication first and visit your private doctor to provide medicine for her...Once she feel better then she can go to St.Luke's for her medical examination..

  3. Hi,

My Husband (The Petitioner) from USA (NY) called up NVC as my all the papers has been submitted there along with Affidavit of Support. So my husband asked them that what is the status, " they said, they have what they need , so call NVC within couple of weeks".

What is that means? how long I have to wait for the interview? please let me know!

to my understanding they will send you a form DS-230 to fill up for you and your husband information and you need to sign it originally..and after the DS-230 have signed then they will arrange (NVC) and provide you an schedule for your interview...Good Luck!

  5. Can poor vision ear disorder tooth cavity hang nail or any of these minor imperfections cause a medical exam failure?

I know Filipinas worry so much about these minor things going into the medical exam

Can anyone clear up what exactly they really screen for during the Medical Exam? (St Luke's Manila)

Thanks for any insight or first hand knowledge

Hello I am also Filipina! Well as my experience they just checked my eye vision, blood pressure, urine, they took my blood for HIV test, X-Ray (the most important one), physical examination (face, eyebrows, ears, breast, loins, tattoo, and your private part) that't it and ready for immunization if everything is clear...and they will ask you to come back the following day for your disc and record.

    Good Luck Sister!

  6. Hi guys... my question is about my passport... is it necessary to change the name of my passport to marriage name when you travel international flight? my passport will expire in 2014 but the name is not yet change... its still in my singles name... do the immigration will going to questions it... Just dont want delays if ever...

    thank you!

No it doesn't matter if you use either your Husband last name or your maiden name....because as my situation I get a new passport and follow my last name of my husband and while waiting to my USCIS approve I went to singapore with my friends twice...I see nothing wrong to do that anyway.

  7. This will be her first passport. Do her ID's she uses to apply for her passport need to be changed to my last name? Also which ID's will they accept and I'm assuming the passport must be issued in my last name also? So far she has a student permit and postal ID in my last name and she has a voter's ID in her maiden name still.. We have the NSO marriage cert and birth certs already

all she need to do is to bring your original Marriage contract authenticated from NSO, Birth Certificate from NSO..thats the only thing they need (DFA) to transfer her current last name (husband).

  8. Hi Vjs

Since i think its taking a couple of weeks for NVC to give us our interview date after our case is complete. I would want to do the medical exam while waiting. I would just like to hear ur opinions about this. Do u guys think its best for me to wait for my inteview date or to do it even without it? :help:

I personally just want to get this medical exam over and done so i have less things to worry.

Please share your experiences and opinions about this matter. Thanks :)

well as my experienced you should wait for your interview scheduled from NVC, no worries because the NVC will give you more time for you to be able to do your medical...what I mean is (example) NVC will send you a schedule for interview on October 10 so still have more time for you to arrange your medical from September and before your interview schedule...

    GOODLUCK FELLOW CITIZEN.

  10. Of course they can;but you need to do everything in your power to make sure that your spouse has everything he/she needs to make it a smooth interview. We all went through the process. I was there with my wife and I know that everyone cannot be there with their spouse;but it is a good thing if you can be there. The Manilla Embassy staff in my opinion are great and friendly;but you must be very prepared for the interview. My wife's interview was a breeze.

My suggestion to you is to make sure that your spouse is well prepared. If your spouse is denied, a paper will be given stating what is needed to get the visa. Good luck.

we've done from the interview last 14th Aug...and the consular asked for co-sponsor I-864 and we submitted last 23rd of Aug..but until now we're still waiting for our visa (son/mine) I am just worried. By the way the interview was also smooth, I am just worrying is when they will produce our Visa :'( Thanks for your concern.

  11. From my understanding, they had the interview and at interview were asked for a co-sponsor. They then submitted the co-sponsors docs 23rd August. That is only a week ago, so I would wait at least another couple of weeks before worrying. Did they keep your passport?

Yes Ma'am we got an interview date last 14th of Aug, the day the consular manila interviewed us he (chinese guy) ask for co-sponsor because my husband did not reached the poverty line. How will I know if the documents that we submitted is sufficient?? Do I need to wait for couple of weeks before they will inform us that they still needed for some papers?

Thank you Ma'am for your kindness.

  12. WOW you already had bought a ticket before you even got an interview date? Okay you are waiting for the I-864 to be accepted? What about your IV BILL? Have you already submitted that since you have no timeline filled out its hard to know what is done and what isn't.

Once both packages are accepted I-864 and IV Bill (DS-230 stuff) then your case will be closed and then you wait and wait for interview date. There are many from the Philippines Case was completed in July still waiting fro an interview date. So you have some waiting still to do.

Sir we are done from the interview that was Aug 14, but unexpected the consular asked for co-sponsor (I-864) which we already submitted last Aug 23 and until now we are still waiting for the visa or waiting for their reply if the documents we submitted is enough or they are already satidfied..We've done everything also interviewed, they took our passport (son/me) and now the only concern is how many days or weeks they will release our Visa because I really wanted to be with my husband and as well as he.

  13. Yes, most of the denials happen at the embassy level. However, if your sister is well over the poverty level for her household size, there should be no problem. How long since you submitted her pI-864?

since Aug 23...Infact my husband already purchased our ticket for Aug 31 but unfortunately we cancelled our flight and re-open the ticket until we receive our Visa (my son and mine). So I do not know when our visa will arrive :(

    Thanks for your kindness.
