  1. I didn't take the time to read through everything. Don't take this the wrong way, but you can leave it all the stuff about how much you love each other etc. It's really not relevant, and alot of people wont take the time to read it, so you may miss out on some good advice.

Back to topic: I know someone that just went through something very similar to this regarding Thailand. You need to google 212( e ) and start there. Basically this person I know had to do all this from Thailand. She had to go through all the steps up to the visa interview, and then she was asked for the waiver then. She is now here in Florida with her husband. I'll ping her and see how she feels about sending you a PM.

    ETA:

This probably needs to be moved to a more appropriate forum.

    Hello, serpent-dragon-zx

In my case, i went back to thailand for 10 months (May 25,2012-March 25,2013) please take a look at my timeline.

I get married in Thailand after i have finished internship program and apply for CR-1 visa. For the J-1 visa waiver i applied after i got the interview date because i thought that i do not need one.

The consular officer gave me the white paper to send him J-1 visa waiver and passport when i receive it.

So your case gonna be the same way as mine. I suggest to apply waiver now (6 months processing time) and k-1 also if you did not get the waiver before interview you just have to change interview date.

Let me know if you have any question, Good luck.

  2. Hi, I am sorry but I don't remember how long it took exactly, but I believe it was something like 2/3 weeks.

Good luck with your waiver, just try to be relax, though I know it's hard ;)

Thank you so much for your kindness answer, on the uscis website it show that the mail have been sent to me on March 4th so now i really wish to receive it on Monday 11 or latest on 14. Thank you again God bless you.

  4. My fiancée submitted the I - 129F petition on January. We received NOA 1 on January 25. I read that the process would take about 5 months. I was a J1 visa holder & my home residency requirement will end on June, so it should be coincide with the visa processing time. However I'm worried because we're applying before I finish the home residency & I don't have waiver. Would that affect my chance in getting K1 visa? Do you think i could get the K1 Visa because the time of finishing HRR would be coincide with the visa processing time? I'm trying to go back to the U.S this July & got married there.

Yes but your need to make sure that it will be over before you are going to interview at USEM.

In my case, my 2HRR will turn on May 2014. Plz see my timelines. I get everything pretty done before i know that i need J-1 visa waiver.

    Good Luck

  5. Hello, every patient wifes and husbands :D

I am Thai and i will get CR-1 visa soon enough after i sent out my passport and i-979C for J-1 visa waiver (2HRR) to USEM yesterday.

I have planned for my husband's cousin wedding in Port Au Prince, Haiti.

if i am holding immigration visa, i can not travel outside the country before i get GC!

That is why i will fly to haiti then return to US for good. But this is the problem i have to transit at US Only !!

So my question is Do i need a US transit Visa???

  8. Congratulations to everyone that has received their date! However, there appears to be a trend that the people getting their dates are people with spouses in Southeast Asia?? Just curious, do they set the appointments by region??

I don't know how they work but my friend Amzź from Poland. Her interview date assigned today also.
