  1. Hello all,

Just have question about NVC >embassy file/docs transfer process. Do the I130/G325 forms(docs) filed by petioner also get forwarded to embassy when they setup and interview date?. So,for example, the first step is when petitioner files form I 130 with supporting docs..such as citizenship proof, marriage certificate, photos etc. Do these documents/photos along with I130 get forwarded to the consulate office? or it stays at uscis/NVC level? I am sure the original marriage certificate and other original docs submitted by beneficiary will be there , but was not sure about the same docs (photo copies)that the petitioner sends out with initial stage (i130)will also be there.just out of curiosity.thanks.

  2. Hello all,

We received a checklist/rfe (not false rfe)by email. It was for step 30, my wife did not calculate the age/year properly and didn't mention all the places where she lived after turning 16, she was only off by few months. So they sent out the RFE to submit the page 1 and page 2 with that info again. I talked to the agent and she told me that if i had a copy (signed) of the IV form i could simply add the missing info and resend it. I am not sure if that makes sense, doesn't IV form has to be original when we submit ? I am not sure if i have to ask my wife to fill out the form again and resend it or i could just add missing info and send it myself? pleas suggest.thanks

  3. 1. Emails should be good enough, mine took 9 days for NVC to accept it.

    2. You get an email when the interview date is assinged, but I think the beneficiary should receive the hard copy of interview letter as here in India for medical they ask to show the original Interview letter. So I assume they would be sending the physical interview letter.

Hi Thanks your reply. SO , the beneficiary has to have a physical copy of interview letter ? or the email can be printed out? And how do they normally mail out the physical copy of letter? USPS or express carrier?

    thanks

  4. Hello all,

    I have couple of questions:

    1. Is it a good idea to send choice of agent form both by email and by mail (USPS)? We have already sent via email would that be good enough?.

    2. Down the road, once NVC completes their process and forward the case to the embassy, are they going to send the interview letter by regular mail or email to the petiioner (since petitioner is agent).?

  5. Question 43b means exactly what it says, if you want them to issue you card, tick yes. By choosing this option, you shouldn't need to go to the SSA office in-person and apply for a card. However, it's not a guarantee that one will come in the mail, there have been many reports from others that they never received their card even though they ticked yes and still had to go to the office and apply in person.

Thanks everyone for your valuable replies, really appreciate that. Ok, i will have her select "No" (Question 43b) as we would like to go in person to apply for SSN.

One more Question, for Question#35 "List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the US.(if never, writ "never").

    - In our case its "never", so when filing this form on the computer, where exactly should "never" be written as there is no text field to input it under number 35. can anyone please suggest if this could be written by Hand in the same line where the question ends? any other suggestions please? I just want to make sure we do it correctly to avoid any RFEs you know.t

    thanks again.

  6. Hello,

could anyone please tell me what these questions really mean on ds-230 form:

    - Question 43a. my spouse will select "No" for "have you ever applied ssn ?" part.

And the next question "do you want social security administration to assign you a SSN and issue a card?", could anyone please tell me what this exactly mean? does this mean if we chose this option, we dont need to go to SSA in person to apply for SSN after arrival? can we say "No" to this question?

Question 43b, should the "yes" only be selected if we select "Yes" in 43a (second part)?

    Please suggest.

  7. Hello All,

My I 130 for my foreign spouse has been approved last week and I have some questons about NVC process. I aksi webt through the NVC shortcut documents.

1)I called NVC with the uscic reciept#, they looked up in the computer and told me they just got my case last week (7 days)..and it has not been entered in the system yet.

Does this mean they wont have NVC # untill they enter this on their system?

    2) Regarding DS 230, Once i become a choice of agent, i can submit this form after i get this form (filled with her signature) from my spouse correct? Does she have to wait for the DS 230 form to be mailed out to her or no need to wait?

    thanks
