  1. The majority of things on here say to give a call/make an appointment first as we may be able to begin collecting all said paperwork before we actually file. Has anyone ever done a DCF through Guadalajara? I am not even sure how to go about making an appointment there. When I return from vacation home that will be my frist step.

I've lived in GDL 5 years and am going through the process with my wife. Couple things -- You use the words "Spanish" and "boyfriend". Are you married to this guy or is he just your boyfriend? Is he a citizen of Spain or is he Mexican?

The bad news -- Guadalajara does not process IR-1/CR-1 visas. You need to mail, or submit in person, your I-130 (and supporting documents) to the US embassy in Mexico City....I mailed my documents via DHL and was approved within a week or two. They will then require you to schedule an in person interview. This interview will take place at the US consulate in Ciudad Juarez (don't ask me why, but this is the only place in Mexico where immigrant visas are processed). There is no other way to DCF in Mexico.

Oh, and do you have a temporary or permanent residence card for mexico? You are going to need that to do this.

Please feel free to ask any other questions re: details etc.

  2. Hi Stephanie, I also would like to know how do i get my receipt number? I had to move out of our apartment and do not have access to the mail.

Please dont all rush at once...

You are going to have to email the consulate in Juarez......they will give you your case number. They normally send all correspondence through regular mail (which is ridiculous).

  3. Hello everyone,

My wife's I-130 was approved, here in Mexico, back in Febuary. All we have to do is schedule the biometrics/medical/interview in cd. Juarez.

My question is this -- how long can I wait before the application "expires" so to speak? I've heard rumors of 1 year, but can't find any concrete evidence of this. The reason I ask is because moving to the US is going to be a very expensive process and I need to save some money up. Does anybody have experience with this?

    Thanks!

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm looking to see if everything here looks right.......

1.) My wife's I-130 petition was approved in Mexico City, then forwarded to Ciudad Juarez consulate.

2.) Juarez mailed me her case number and instructions to fill out form DS-260 online.

3.) After the DS-260 was done, I made an account on www.usvisa-info.com/en-MX -- I'm able to schedule an ASC appointment and interview here

4.) I've downloaded "packet 4" from the Juarez consulate website and have completed everything asked (they don't mention a police check)

    I do have a few questions --

1.)Since we have to travel up to Juarez, can I schedule the medical, ASC appointment and interview three days in a row? I'm not sure how this is usually done, but would like to only make one trip to Juarez.

2.) Do we need to send them anything ahead of time (I-864, etc.) or just bring everything to the interview?

3.) Is a police check required in Mexico?

    Thank you!

  5. Hello everyone,

I submitted the I-130 (and supporting documents) to the USCIS office in Mexico City. They emailed me saying everything was approved and the case was now being forwarded to the Ciudad Juarez office. It's been about six weeks now. Should I expect an email from them or how do they make contact? I emailed them to ask for a case number, but have not heard back.

On a separate note, me and my wife aren't exactly sure of when we'll be able to move to the US this year. Let's say, for example, when Juarez office asks us for the next round of documents (police check etc.) how long can we wait to get back to them? Can I "draw" this process out an extra few months if a need to? I do realize that once the visa is granted we have 6 months to use it, but at this point in time, I'm questioning if that's going to be enough for us.

Thank you for all your help!

  6. Welcome to the forum.

You certainly have some options. :guides: They can be accessed at the top of the forum page. In there you will find an excellent comparison of the fiance(e) and spousal visa programs available, and also other great guides and information. You should also look at the Direct Consular Filing (DCF) process for the visas. The information for the Juarez consulate can be accessed through the "Embassy Info" tab at the top of the forum page.

Hopefully other members can speak about the form/process you will need to complete for your soon-to-be born child, so that they will have a US passport.

Good luck on your visa journey.

I've already got that figured out (very easy)...........if anybody has questions about that I would be more than willing to help.

  7. Look into getting married in Mexico and filing for a spousal visa. You could even choose Direct Consular Filing(DCF) if you wish: http://www.visajourney.com/content/dcf

The spousal visa is not only cheaper, but your wife would be able to have permanent resident status as soon as she enters the US. Comparison chart: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

    Thank you!

The "DCF" option looks to be the best way to go. I'm reading that a trip to Juarez is necessary.....at what point in the process do we have to do that?

    Thanks a lot

  8. Hello everyone,

Just came across this forum and was hoping some of you could kindly point me in the right direction.

I am a US citizen who has been living in Mexico with my girlfriend for the last 2.5 years. My girlfriend is a Mexican citizen with a US tourist visa (we have taken 4 trips to the US in the last 2 years). Our child will be born here in Mexico any day now. The child will be a Mexican and US citizen. Me and my girlfriend want to get married.

We would like to move up to the US sometime in the next couple of years. I began looking at the forums here and am a little confused on what is the "easiest/fastest" route. What I mean is -- Should we get married in Mexico or the US? Maybe it doesn't make a difference? Should we be going for the fiance or spouse visa? I do have a Mexican residency card, so should I file the paperwork here in Guadalajara, Mexico or in the USA? As you can see, this is all very confusing for me. If somebody could point me in the right direction it would be very helpful.

Thank you all for your time.
