  1. January 7th finally dhl status ready for pick up by recipient. sent family down to get the visa and envelope sealed and then got a plain ticket today! they are at the airport waiting for their flight! they are leaving jamaica for the first time! my house isn't quite ready but we will get ready! on my way to seattle airport soon!!!!!! now that this is over anyway i can offer assistance to anybody doing this miserable process i would be happy to. i don't know how much help i will be because i don't really understand all the abbrieviations and such!

  2. Hi everyone, so as you know my interview was on December 21,2012, received my visa 2day thru dhl. So my question is the visa category say CR1. Can anyone explain to me what does means. Thx for all your help.

congratulations. my kids had their interview october first in jamaica and then their passports just got taken the 17th of december. paid dhl, keep checking the tracker, keep emailing the embassy and nothing yet.....i applied for permanent residence for them. i have no idea what that is called or what kind of papers they will get or what they do with them. Dont they keep the envelope sealed or are they allowed to open it?

  3. You are right, i had forgotten that when they requested dna testing they also requested additional evidence that my husbend and I were married and living together. I turned in financial records proving that we had loans together, insurance policies, bank statements.

    well another weekend is here.

  4. Didn't you say at the interview the embassy requested a DNA test AND further evidence of your husband's involvement in his kids life prior to their immigration journey? The embassy could be going through your evidence with a fine tooth comb hence why it's taking so long (AP).

I told you a few days after your interview that because your case isn't clear cut not to mention the holidays, it would be the new year before the visas would be ready?

  5. I don't really understand what is going on here. The embassy told me I am waiting for the visa to be printed, and delivered to dhl. However I also understand that there is some sort of "final approval" that happens after they take the passports, and before the visa is printed.....So i don't know what the heck I am waiting for and who is doing what. Life's Journey you are so wise. I have this picture in my head what you must look like. Are you jamaican? Are you a man or woman? You sound like a man.

I called dhl in jamaica yesterday. they tell me the same thing everytime i call " it has not left the embassy yet". so i assume that but the website where you track the visa is so misleading. it says "shipment shipped". dhl is open today, sunday, 9 am til 1 pm. i guess that's why i care jus as much about when the embassy is going to be open because i assume that they have to be open for dhl to receive the visas. so i don't understand what it is they are doing right now. i applied for the children to leave jamaica and become permanent residence of the united states. it is not just for a trip to come see their dad and myself. When i first got married i sent the baby mama 300 dollars twice to pay for application for them to come visit, right after that the kids got left with his sister and so i changed gears and applied for permanent residence. i feel like kids should be with either a mother or a father, so they can't be with their mother, so they need to be with their father. it's crowded where they live with his sister. i work two jobs, 12 hrs a day almost seven days a week. i'm so nervous to be a young mother to two teenagers. But in my heart i feel like it is what god wants. meanwhile this whole process through immigration this year has been fairly smooth considering all the holdups and things that can go wrong. the dna testing kind of held it up, the hurricane right in the middle of it didn't help anything. it has been fairly smooth.. I will post a timeline once the children come to the united states. in the meantime i don't want their identity to be revealed. jamaica is a long ways away and feel helpless to protect them. my husbend is scared of witch craft and haters in the world. I'm not so much i have a strong faith, don't know jack about witchcraft in jamaica but respect my mans' wishes to not identify his children on public sites until they are here.

  7. and i don't understand what is the hours for the holiday? the website on the jamaican embassy has proven to not be correct. as evidenced by christmas eve being a holiday and it was not posted as a recognized holiday. Are they functioning on december 31st? happy holidays to everyone on visajourney and your kind words.

  8. Is the Jamaican embassy open New Years Eve, the 31st of December, I am sure they are closed for Jan 1st, New Year's Day. Their website is not current. and i don't trust dhl in jamaica because they answered their phone christmas eve and told me the embassy was open. Then the embassy facebooked me and emailed me saying they wern't open. Life's Journey was right the embassy was not open Christmas Eve. You would think dhl in jamaica would know but i guess not. These weekend and Holiday hours suck. I got a very nice email from the embassy yesterday morning apoligizing for being unable to get my kids to me by christmas. It made me feel really good to think that there was a moderate amount of compassion on the other side at the embassy. Towards the end of this stressful process they have been very prompt in answering my emails and very patient and sympathetic. My kids turned in their passports and paid dhl Tuesday, dec 17th, dhl status just keeps saying "shipment shipped". I am waiting for it to say "shipment delivered". Then will send my lil family to the warehouse to pick up the visa. I have also found the embassy's facebook page very helpful. They even answered one of my questions off business hours from a mobile phone on their facebook.

  9. i keep getting ill possibley from too much stress. alot of it, i'm only 28 years old and bout to be a mother to two teenagers. and never stressed about that part of it til now when they are almost here. it's not like there was anything to think about it has to be done and i am honored to step up to the plate. so on top of the stress if they will get their visa and if they will make the long journey here to the united states, i am sweating bullets about being a mother to teenagers. sooooo yes wise words stress won't change anything. and need to save time for when they arrive, i just still feel ill with a cold or something, have for like two weeks on and off. can't seem to shake it:(:(

first the weekend, now the holidays, too many holidays...holiday after holiday. gosh. anybody else ready for a diet plan after their done with immigration and the holidays are over?

  10. Congrats on the approval. It can take anywhere between 5 days to 3+ weeks. No rhyme or reason why some are longer than the others. Just keep watching the site!

I have been waiting since the 17th watching dhl website, entering the tracking number.....it says shipment shipped, that just means they got the case number information from the embassy. according to dhl in jamaica i am waiting to see it say shipment delivered. my kids couldn't make it here before christmas. but hopefully after boxing day the embassy will be up and running and remember that me and my kids are still here, waiting. USCIS received my applications for them January 2012. Now I am waiting on dhl to have their visa ready and hope and pray there are no errors, like their name spelled wrong. Waiting to buy plain tickets til i know for sure the name was spelled right.

  11. You really need to lively up yourself. All this stress is not going to change anything. Missing work, you should save them days for when they arrive. There are others that are worse off. Your on your way and only waiting your almost there.

    Cheer Up

  12. Not sure where you live in the US or what news station you watch, but the President of the US granted all federal government workers Christmas Eve as a holiday.

Also your husban should be aware of the Jamaican holidays that are obsevered around the Christmas holiday.

dhl told me the embassy was open christmas eve. dhl in jamaica. i called them. thanks for your contribution to my stress. do you see on the embassy's website, they do not recognize the 24th of december. two different us embassy jamaican websites.

  13. In Jamaica nothing is gong to happen until Thursday. Monday is a US govt Holiday, Tuesday is a US govt Holiday, Wednesday is a Jamaican Holiday.

Everywhere in my town is not considering monday a holiday. nobody is getting holiday pay, and nothing is closed. Of course we all celebrate christmas eve, but i never herd of anybody getting holiday pay and everything is open. i suposse government can be closed for christmas eve.

  14. the embassy has too many holidays. that would be the job to have, lots of holiday pay.

i'm not buying tickets until i see the kids name is spelled correctly. as much trouble as we had just getting the birth certificate corrected my gosh.

  15. I'm in the same boat as you. My DHL tracking has said the same thing for over a week. The embassy emailed me Thursday and said it would be sent out by Friday but nothing has changed. He has a ticket for today but we are going to have to change it. So I'll have to wait for my Christmas present! But we should be good at waiting by now :)

one member stated on here the embassy would be closed christmas eve, christmas day, and the day after. the embassy's website states they observe as holidays christmas day and the day after. but then the embassy facebooked me they will be closed christmas eve too! i had hoped i had a chance to hear something christmas eve, they should correct their website to state that. and i have to call dhl in jamaica to find out their specific hours this holiday crazy week. but i saw they posted something about having different hours for the holidays and resuming january second but didn't clarify whazt those different hours were!

  16. yea the embassy just facebooked me saying they are closed christmas eve:(:( dhl status just keeps saying package shipped or something like that:( when i called them they said all that means is that they have made contact with the embassy. The embassy has not released my kids visa yet because when they do dhl will say delivered on the status.... my step kids are 11 and 14. i know they are so excited. i am getting so anxious i feel like it has made me become ill, have to miss work, and i can hardly concentrate on the rest of my life. we are not talking about just anything, it is people's lives, children's lives, and i love his kids like my own, i want them here where i can raise them. jamaica is soooooo far away from where we live in the united states. so i wonder if dhl is closed christmas eve? it doesn't matter if the embassy is closed and that's where the visa is.

  17. waiting for visa....nothing is going to happen on the weekend. i keep checking the tracking number anyways. it isn't changing. like sweetie one i am gonna keep decorations up and put christmas on hold for the rest of the family until the kids get here from jamaica. so the embassy and dhl are up and running christmas eve just not christmas and the day after christmas. i don't wanna lose hope there still a small chance they be here by christmas..... i just want this to get over with so the rest of life will feel like it can go on. i love my husbend and i love his kids and will and cannot rest until they are in my house with the rest of the family.

  18. kingston jamaica, dhl tracking info: status shipped, dhl tells me could be delivered tomorrow!!!! nvc is closed how do i find out if the visa has been approved finally! i can't believe this! what does this mean vj!?????

dhl who told me the visa could be here tomorrow didn't know what the eff he was talking about. that's what i get for calling the 1 800 number dhl and not specifically the jamaica dhl office who was handling my case. after i called the dhl office in jamaica they told me that even though the status says "order shipped" that only means that they started communicating with the embassy it doesn't mean the visa shipped. The visa has not left the embassy yet. I knew it was too good to be true. And it's rather deceiving though when you see "order shipped" you would think they sent the visa, but no. I still have faith my case could be one of the cases you read about on this site that got the visa in hand three days after the interview. I am still hopeful the kids could be here by christmas. I am not losing hope until christmas is over. I email the embassy almost every day it feels like, and i have been facebooking them too. Hope still remains, anxiety still going strong. Want my kids to get over here so I can go on with the rest of my life. I can't imagine how the poor kids feel waiting to get to be with me and their dad for a year and a half now.

  19. This means that the visas were approved and were shipped. Did you opt to pick them up or to be delivered? I hope you chose to pick it up because it takes longer to be delivered. It took three days from the day of my husbands appointment to reach dhl where the tracking status read; "awaiting collection by recipient as requested" and once he picked it up it read "delivered-signd for by:...." Be ready to buy palne tickets! Merry Christmas!! :)

can't breath! hoping by friday, and no plain tickets til this weekend available, god i hope so. nvc still says pending. the embassy says final stages, printing the visa, i feel like they don't call it approved til the visa is out. dhl said the status says "shipping" because they started communicating with the embassy. it has not reached dhl yet.

  20. How long does it take to get the results?

dna results two days, they were emailed back to the embassy, but from the time they asked for the dna til the follow up interview which was yesterday, it took october first til Dec yesterday, hurricane, made it postpone a lil, they claimed they had a hard time reaching the guardian was the hold up, the dna company itself works fast. it is the embassy that holds it up, hurricane sandy didn't help. i was very pleased with the dna company i chose. it was the largest in the world. my husbend only had to drive 30 minutes to give a sample and we live in rural washington. and they were fast, it was the embassy. they wouldn't just email me a follow up apt day and time, they had to call the guardian on file in jamaica who lives in the country side in jamaica, not great service, and of course the embassy won't leave voice messages because they refuse to allow us to call them. So interview yesterday, all they did was take my kids passports and send them to dhl......I guess they are approved?????? now playing the wait game again. the embassy told me themself, 3 to 10 days business days, wait however if there is a problem it will take longer up to a month.
