  1. No fees for EAD and AP when filing together with AOS.

So you should file all the 3 forms together

I wanted to put the EAD and the AP on hold or wait for the AOS approval instead of filing the other two. Do you know if that is possible and how much is the filing fee?

  2. Hi Vjers,

I have a few questions regarding travel outside of US. I am travelling to the Phils for 3 weeks to appear for my daughter's K2 visa interview & hopefully coming back to the US with her. My questions are the following:

    1. I am a green card holder--married to a USC. What other documents do I need to bring?

    2. Do I need any re-entry permits aside from my advance parole/EAD ID?

For my daughter's potential K2 visa:

    1. How long is the K2 visa good for? Does it expire in 6 months like the K1 visa?

    2. Does the 1 year visa issuance requirement of a K2 follow to join means the K2 visa holder has to be physically in the US within a year from the K1 issuance date or does it apply only to actually being issued a K2 visa?

I tried my best to be clear and specific. My apologies if I sound confused. Thank you for your help!

  3. Hi! I am with the same question. My husband will be filing for his step child (who is my biological daughter). Do we REALLY need pictures ? Because he does not have pictures with her. In fact he has never seen her in person, only by phone and skype.

    Hi,

Another VJer told me you can send in money remittances receipts in that way it shows husband is supporting your child. It does help. ☺️ Goodluck

  4. hi everyone. my daughter is coming to the us thru the k2 visa since she was included in the k1 petition. we are no longer going through the i-130 process. thankfully i am going home next week to appear for her interview and travel back to the us

question you mentioned that you are submitting your United States Citizenship and your birth certificate. if you are a citizen why don't you put in the petition for your daughter and when it's time for the affidavit of support then you use your husband. that is what i did. and my kids are now waiting on their interview dates.

    filed:10-10-2014

    uscis received application: 10-19-2014

    got approved 05-08-2012

    got approval letter

USCIS alao sent it over to NVC

    NVC received it on 05-22-2014

i waited 30 days then called NVC

    received case # on 06-22-2014

NVC told me to wait three weeks for

    AOS invoice number.

    Got affidavit invoice 06-30-2014

    payed affidavit of support 07-02-2014

send requested documents with AOS form filled out 07-17-2014

now waiting on NVC to make a decision

next step physical and interview i will keep you updated.

    Good Luck

I am an LPR. My husband is the USC, stepdad to my biological daughter.

  5. Hi Vjers,

I just want to share how thankful I am for this site. I received an email reply from the US embassy in the Philippines that they have waived my daughter's visa interview scheduling. So, we can proceed with medical and interview anytime between August 1 and onwards. My K1 visa issuance was August 12 so the follow to join derivative would've expired a year after. The interview date we've booked was the 22nd so I emailed an expedited interview appointment and got the great news today.

Just a question to all Vjers: should we leave the Phils before my visa issuance date expiry or can we stay longer in Phils (sort of spending time with my parents)?

Hoping for some clarity. Thank you Lord, thank you VJ!

  6. Hi VJers,

We are in the initial step of filing an I-130 for my daughter. My USC husband, who is the step-parent of my daughter will be the petitioner.

I would like to ask confirmation if with the following documents below will suffice in a petition approval?

    - Filing Fee of $420

    - I-130 petition for minor, unmarried child

    - child's birth certificate (does not reflect the biological father's name)

    - USC birth certificate & passport

    - USC and biological mother marriage certificate

    - biological mother's birth certificate

    - photos of my husband with me & my daughter

    -G1145 notification

Hoping for your response--we will be mailing petition in the next couple of days.

    Thank you,

    CharisseVD

  8. Because you married before she was 18 your husband call petition her as the immediate relative of a USC which will be the fastest. The father may need to release the child to immigrate.

Hi, thank you for all your replies. My daughter's birth certificate does not have the father's name in it. So, there is no document needed from the biological father, right?

The biological father (whom I wasn't married to) passed away a few months I had my daughter.

Your Husband as a USC petitioning would be quickest.

Thank you for your reply. I never knew my husband could do that as step parent. Thank you!

  9. Hi VJers,

I need your help in understanding what direction to take:

I want to immigrate my 8 year old daughter to the US. I gained my LPR through my marriage to the US citizen (K1).

Unfortunately, my daughter has not traveled within a year to take advantage of the follow to join benefits. Can you please

enlighten me what steps to take, petition and what visa to file during this process? My husband is not the biological father.

    THank you

  10. hi...I seem to have a problem making a new post and found this thread to be very helpful for my own situation too.

similar exactly as the post owner's question--only that my daughter is a follow-to-join situation from the I-29f..

I just want to confirm that basically my child will now start with her own medical, interview and cfo process to get the k2 visa? as she is listed in the approved petition with the same MNL case # as mine..hope to hear from you...six7one or hank_

my apologies for intruding and thank you for taking time to rea
