  1. thank you so much, I will be reading the article within the next few minutes.. I appreciate you took the time to help me on this..

    Thanks!

I am not an expert but from what I've read, effective January 14, 2013 the "carta blanca" process will become obsolete. After that day any cuban citizen that has a valid visa to enter another country just needs an actualized cuban passport. The Gaceta Oficial #44 published on 10/16/12 (ISSN 0864-0793) provides all the details. I found it (in spanish) when I googled.

Although the Carta Blanca process or Carta de Invitacion process will no longer exist. Here is the "catch", they are limitations on whom can "actualize" their passport. You should note Article 25 that gives the specific reasons A through I why a citizen might not be able to "actualize" his or her passport. This can be found on page 3 of 31 of this official annoucement. Based on this information, there are no easy answers since it all DEPENDS on these qualifiers. I encourage you to read the fine print and obtain your answers for your specific situation.

    Best Wishes!

  2. Hi everyone, my fiance and I got approved last week and he is picking up his visa on the 20th of this month. I am wondering how long the carta blanca should take since there would be changes in January. I have heard they are going to eliminate it.. any feedback will be appreciated.. Thanks!

  3. *1 copy of ds-230 part 1&2

    *2 copys of ds-156 don't sign

    *2 copys of ds-157

    *1 copy of ds-156k don't sign

I am confused on what affidavit of support i send the I-864 or the I-134

**Can i just write the information by hand or does it have to be done by computer?

Thanks everyone for your help and support

Hey, people in cuba dont know a thing and they listen to what people say too much. You should go by what the website tells you. For the k-1 visa you do the I-864 and bring proof of economic solvency examples are, w-2, recent paystubs, last 2 income tax reports. As far as the affidavit you can either write or type it, of course if typed looks nicer. The form ds157 is not provided to them, i dont know why but my fiance didnt get it, you have to do it. Biggest advice print every single form to have extra just in case. I dont know if you're planning to go to the interview, but it is definitely a great idea. I did, and Im glad I did.. if you have any questions call me at 2392453043. I wont mind helping you out at all. I know how frustrating and confusing this is..

  4. yea, I have heard that about the medical interview. His consular interview is on dec so Im hoping we have enough time.

for the medical interview he only needs to bring that one paper in the packet right? sorry for so many questions But Im a bit clueless and I dont want to make mistakes.

    Thanks for your feedback! good.gif

  5. send as much evidence as you can. Pictures with dates on them, copies of airplane tickets, hotels..etc..you can even send an affidavit signed by people that have witnessed your relationship.

Sending a lot of evidence will prevent you from a "Request for Evidence" step and it will save you time. because if you dont send enough they'll ask you for more and that will delay you.

  6. Yea I hope everything goes well. He cant pick up the packet because the case is not there yet. I talked to someone there and they said we should be calling them often to check if it arrived and then we can schedule for him to go pick it up. But I think we got plenty of time before the interview. Thanks for all your feedback. ! Good luck!!!

  7. @ juntos esperamos

Thanks for taking the time to respond and help me out. It sure helps a lot.

I did not get an email but I called NVC and they said it was sent to Cuba, they also gave me the HAV case # which I need to schedule the interview. They said I should allow some time for the case to arrive to Cuba and then I would be able to schedule the interview.

BUt, this is all so confusing. Someone said I could call and make an appointment for him to pick the packet..

    What should I do?

    Thanks!

  8. Our case was already transferred to Cuba as of last Tuesday 9/11/12. I already know our case # since I spoke to NVC. But, Im not sure when exactly I can schedule the interview, I have heard and read something about him having to receive the packet with documents checklist. but do I have to wait for him to receive in order to schedule the interview or can I schedule it before? any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
