  1. Hello VJ Family

OK I've an issue. My wife's case is pending at NVC, she doesn't have any record of birth and therefore an affidavit of birth was provided (2 witnesses) I was waiting on my IV package to reviewed, just got off the phone with NVC and they are asking for an official record from the Government and the reason why the birth certificate was not available? Has anyone experience this?

Her birth took place in home and there's no hospital record that could be found, i thought 2 affidavit of birth were enough for evidence.... Please advise..

NVC doesnt accept affidavit without an official "No Record Found" from a local municipality. I suggest you ask your wife to go to local municipality office and have them generate a No Record Found of birth - once you send that to NVC it should be fine.

  2. I guess for New Delhi Consulate you will have to submit PCC with DS 230 but please double check by calling NVC

PCC is valid for 6 months

i further have one question related to PCC

A] when do we need to submit this to immigration

    1) during submission of DS230 ?

    2) or during the INTERVIEW at New Delhi US consulate?

B] how long is validity of the PCC, can i apply in advance (or) i have to apply at a specifit time frame?

  3. This helps a lot but I am again confused when you say "get a Passport clearance certificate which is provided by the local passport office".

    Which Local Passport Office?

    1. The Passport Office Where My Passport has been Issued?

    2. 1. The Passport Office Where of the city where I stay/live currently because of Job?

    I guess that's what confusing me :(

And is there any difference between Police Clearance Certificate and Passport Clearance Certificate? Do I need to obtain both?

Get the Passport clearance certificate from the passport office where you're currently living. Its better to get it from the recent city.

You will not need to obtain both - when you actually apply for a PCC at the local passport office they send your verification to commissioner office and local police station while passport office checks your data nationaly.

  4. Yeah, that's what NVC told me. But NVC has the original PCC since we sent it with the IV package. We do have photocopy, but not the original. Will NVC send the PCC along with the rest of the documents to the embassy?

Yes they will...just make sure to get the original PCC back at the interview....and give them a photocopy

  5. I just called NVC. And he told me that NVC doesn't need the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) and that my husband would need to take the PCC with him at the time of his interview. I asked him again to make sure and that's what he said. I asked him if he would send the original back, and he said that the husband can just take a copy of the PCC with him to the interview. Is this correct? Any feedback would be appreciated.

PCC isnt required at NVC but your husband would need to take the original PCC with him to the interview. Make sure he also takes a photocopy with him as they will need to keep a copy.

  6. Me and my husband actually did a lot of research on this as we had the same issue.

He was born in different city....lived in different city for quite some time and now due to job had moved to a different city.

I would suggest you get a Passport clearance certificate which is provided by the local passport office. Since the address where your passport is generated is different than the address you currently live - they will check your background centrally within the country.

This is actually confirmed by NVC as well. A very nice guy guided me through and said they dont need a PCC from every municipality as long as it is centrally checked through a passport office.

    Hope this answers your question.

  7. Hi everyone. We finally got our NOA2. I am signed up for the email and text messages but didn't receive either. I just decided to log into the USCIS website and there it was! The website stated it was mailed today, March 7th. I checked 6 times, my hands shaking more and more as I realized that I was entering the number correctly. Thank you VJ and VJ Family! On to the 2nd step! Needless to say, I am so happy! Good luck to everyone still waiting, I hope your approvals come soon!

    Congratulations!!

  8. Tax information for 2012 isn't needed yet at NVC, so you're fine. But make sure you file taxes soon as your interview will likely be after the tax deadline in which 2012 tax information will be needed at the interview.

If you're going to send 2012 information to NVC, then no, the copy of the tax return doesn't have to be certified. But, for the interview, I highly suggest getting the tax transcript from IRS (as well as bringing the W2s and copy of the tax return).

    Thanks for the info Saylin!!
