  1. Well they just cashed my check for $395 so I assume I had the right amount :)

    Thanks James,

I will make a check for 395 for 485 form.

Did you'll file for EAD - I765 form? If yes how much fees did u send for that. I called the svc center and they are telling me to send another biometric fees of $70 along with the 765 form too ?? that makes the fees for EAD 180 + 70 = $250/-

    Did you'll send $250 or $180??

Thanks for your help once again.

  2. Hi,

I was reading the fees part on the forms page on USCIS site for I765 and it says base fees of $180 + 70 for biometrics.

We are filling I485 and I765 concurrently. In I485 we are including the $ 70 for bio fees. Do we need to add another 70 along with EAD app too ?? This is soo confusing. Please help

    From USCIS site :

"$180 base fee, plus $70 biometrics services fee if you have not already been fingerprinted for another immigration benefit."

    http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-765.htm

    Thanks

  3. Hi,

I am confused about the fees for I485 application. The instructions page list the fees as $315 + 70 for biometerics = $385

I have all the forms ready to send out this morning and i just double checked on the USCIS site and now i see the fees on the forms pages listed as $325 + $70 = $395 ???

    Has anyone else noticed this?

    What should i do ?? Rewrite a new check for 395/- ????

    Please help.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Chris,

Thank you for your quick reply to all our questions. I was looking through some docs and found a A# on NOA2 under beneficiary column. It is right above her name. Is this the A# that we need to put on I485 form and other forms ?

The number below the annotation on her visa is the same as the receipt number that we had when i filled the I129F form. So that doesn't look like the A#. What do you think?

Thanks once again for all your help..

    Pksang

    Hi, pksang!

    1) A# is found in your wife's visa (in her passport). It's the set of numbers that starts with the letter "A", under the annotation.

    2) The expiration date of her visa should also be found in her passport (visa page). This should show until when her K1 visa should expire.

    3) That was it. The pre-printed 11 numbers on the card are already the I-94#. I guess it was just printed a little bit too far high up to match the boxes where they should be.

    4) I think you already have everything covered. Just don't forget the necessary associated documents for each forms. (i.e. I-485 = photos, birth certificates, etc.. I-864 = W2s, paystubs... etc.)

And most importantly, don't forget the fees (",) Also, before you send your documents out, make sure that you also have a copy of your own, just in case they ask for RFE.

And before you mail it out, double-check that you have everything and answered all the forms.

    Goodluck on your paperworks!

    Regards,

    Chris

  5. hello all,

We are filling out the forms for AOS and have these questions. Will really appreciate all the help and knowledge from you all.

My wife (fiancee then) entered on a K1 visa, poe cincinatti.

    On form I485 - page 1

    1) They ask for A#? where do i find this?

    2) next to current visa status is -- expires on ? what date to put here ?

    3) I94 # -- on her I94, there is just one pre-printed 8 digit number. Below that are 11 boxes, but these are empty - no one filled these up.. So my question is -- what number to put on form I485 as the I94#??

    4) I have read through the guides and faq here, but still i need to ask this, please let me know if we have it all covered or are missing something:

For K1 visa holders, filling AOS - we just need to send the following:

    a) I485 and docs associated with that.

    b) G325A

    c) I864

    d) I765 for EAd

    e) I131 for AP

Is there anything else we are not thinking of ?? please help..

    Thank you.

  6. ilovenalini4eva,

i don't think that should be a problem - just 7 months its hardly anything.. esp to the US consular who is sitting in on the interview - i think he would not even notice it... However there is another Visa officer along with the US consular - i guess mostly an Indian origin person so i have heard. Now this person is around to kind of assist the visa consular in his/her decision of genuity of ur relationship given his/her added advantage of knowing the indian culture and all.. But i really think u have no such problem to convince the visa officers that the relationship is genuine.. its just 7months.. someone is got to be younger of the 2 :))

Just as a extra precaution keep ur evidence of relationship documents in order and take lots of those to the interview.. That should speak volumes for u'll

    All the best

  7. karol,

I think going the tourist route is quite dangerous and its not worth taking that risk. I think you have received lot of good advice here..

One thing that come to my mind is - DCF. I don't know how it works for Canada - but try to look up that. Maybe u'll can get married in Canada and then file for him via DCF process.. I am sure if this is a bad idea others will write soo.. but do look into it..

Perseverance and patience is what pays off.. There could be a shortcut in life - but u have to ask urself is it worth taking it.. going back to my basics - i feel that the shortcut always sounds attractive and pulls one in its direction - but it is wisdom n trust in oneself n God that helps one make the hard but correct decisions in life.. So ponder about it and don't jump the gun without throughly researching all ur options.

U have this great forum and tons of people for support..

  8. Hi Zdnh,

Cool - so look like we are the only two waiting for mumbai embassy to move... I called the visa specialist number in us yesterday and they told me that there is no update from embassy as to interview scheduling for our case..

You know i pulled up mumbai embassy's apt schedule for march n april - they had only 20-21 cases for the whole month. 1 interview per working day ??? that didn't much make sense too me...

Anways we both have mailed Pkt 3 around the same time.. so we should expect interviews around the same time.. i will keep u posted if i hear anything more.

    Regards,

    Parth

  9. Pbgirl,

Congratulations... finally all the processing and paperwork is done for u'll n he will be here soon.. I have been reading ur post (though i am waiting for my fiancee to get her K1 interview) and wanted to thank you for taking the time write back ur experiences on the site.. It will def help a lot of folks that will follow on the same road... Not everyone writes back in this great detail... thanks once again.

    Pksang.

    Yippie!!

Just wanted to update on my little story. My husband had his interview back on January 25th at the New Delhi consulate in India. They said everything was in order but that he had to submit full fingerprints because there was a common name hit. He was under 221(g), Administrative Review, pending the fingerprint results

The fingerprints took exactly 6 weeks to come back, another week for the consulate to send my husband a "please come see us" letter and then another week (TODAY!) for the passport and special sealed evnelope to actually arrive. So almost exactly 2 months later, we are finished with AR.

Not sure when we will be able to get tickets for, but I just wanted to give others an idea of the timeframe for this time of administrative processing.

Thanks for the help and support all! :star:

  10. he zdnh,

My fiancee just got her PCC and passport certificate.. She lives in bombay and here is what she did

For PCC - she went to head police station somewhere in town side.. close to VT.. i m not sure of exact location. Applied there and then they sent the case to her local police station. Local guys did the check, and send it back to the head police station from where u get the ceritificate.

For PCC from passport office - she went to Passport office (newone) ner century bazar and applied. That was straight fwd too.. fill the form and pay 300 rs, original passport, n all..

Let me know if u need anything more on it.

    Parth

  11. Thank you Yamini.. I will call DOS in beg of april to check.. I saw on bombay consulate site - they have already posted their interview schedule for april and we are not in it.. But the funny thing i noticed was they just had 21 K1 interviews (one case per working day) for the whole month.

I had seen the same thing in their march schedule too..

Well I am hoping they are giving apts for the month and just not posting them on their online schedule on the net... i hope soo..

Hey congratulations on ur visa approval.. i just saw ur signature line and noticed that u got ur visa yesterday.. cool.. congratulations to both of u..

    Regards,

    Parth

  12. Hello all,

I have been searching for archives on experience on K1 Visa process and interview details for Mumbai embassy here on VJ, but have not had much luck.. So i thought i would start this thread and all K1 applicants going through Mumbai embassy (Delhi, Madras, Calcutta too) could share their thoughts/experiences and tips

For those who have allready graduated from this step of embassy interview - please do post your experiences and interview details... it will be very helpful for the rest of us who are in line waiting..

By the way my fiancee is from mumbai and is currently waiting for an interview appointment. She just returned her packet 3 on 20th March..

Thanks and lets all get in touch.

  13. JanaStepho,

I think writing to congress person is a good idea.. I had filled for my fiancee back in august 05 and just received our NOA2 1 day shy of 6months.. it was a long ordeal and CSC kept saying that required background security checks are still pending. However a lot of us who had filled to CSC around end of August got stuck in security checks. So we had a support group to vent out...

I first wrote a letter and emailed that to my congresswoman, then called the next day and spoke to her assistant. Her assistant sent an inquiry to CSC and then the waiting game again. She got a reply from CSC saying that they have recvd her query and will reply in 30 days. Well 30 days past by and i asked her to followup again.

4 days later we got our NOA2... However the most funny thing was - my congresswomans office had no idea or information fwded from CSC till then. I called her to thank her for their efforts and she was like humm i haven't heard a word from CSC yet.. :)) funny huh..

Having said this, i don't want to lower ur morale. u need to contact these people and have them chase ur case.. I am not sure if it makes any difference or not, but atleast you will feel that u are doing all possible and are not leaving any stone unturned.. Waiting those 6months and see others get their NOA2 within record times can be very frustating and painful.. so this way u can channelise ur mind into a more constructive manner. I called the congress office every week in that time, just to try my luck and some to make that office understand the seriousness of the issue...

All the best and make use of this time to read online about the process and gather papers etc that u will need for interview etc..

    Regards,

    Pksang.
