  1. Please forgive me if there is already another topic about this. I didn't find one. Anyway the immigrant visas for my wife and daughter(from Russia to US) were approved on Sept. 7 and they were told at the interview "it is approved. Good luck in the USA". My wife returned home and is waiting on her passport and other documents to arrive. She is very anxious and looked online to find tracking information and saw a message saying her passport is still at the embassy and undergoing administrative processing. She is wondering what that means and if there is a problem. If anyone can provide information about this, it is appreciated.

  2. My wife is in Russia and got a US visa and visited the US and returned to Russia a month ago and now she wants to visit again and bring our child. The child will be out of school for the summer, so this is the best time for her first visit here. Anyway, my wife is doing the visa process and may have made an error on a form. She did form DS-160 and she was very sleepy when doing it and she is trying to remember if there was an area on the form in which she needed to write her own US visa number. If so, she may have written the control number instead of the red visa number. She submitted everything and is now afraid it is wrong and does not know what to do or even if there was a question asking for a number. She is confused and upset and I would like to calm her down if possible.

I saw an example of that form and I saw nothing that asked for my wife's visa number, but she still isn't sure. She remembers looking at the visa and trying to decide which number was correct, so who knows?

If it turns out that the form did ask for my wife's visa number and she wrote the wrong number, will she be able to correct it or will she need to submit a new application? From what I'm reading it looks as though she would be able to contact the embassy and use her confirmation number in order to go in and correct the error, so hopefully that is true.

The site she consulted said that her child, being under 14, will not need to go through an interview process. Thank you for any help you can give

  3. We were married in January of this year in Russia. I'm a lifelong North Carolinian from the US and she's a lifelong Russian. I have so many questions and I'm sure they have been addressed somewhere on this forum but I get so confused by all the different information and questions.

I know there has been something in the news that on Sept. 9 there restrictions for visas from visiting US citizens are supposed to be eased so that we can visit more easily. My wife will find out information about what she must to in order to make it easier for me to remain in Russia for longer visits. I need to know information about her visiting here. What steps I must take, what forms, estimated cost, what she must do, how long is she allowed to stay, etc. I'm not sure if there is some sort of restriction about length of time we have been married. I know that people are suspicious of couples who are recently wed and are trying to travel from place to place.

We are undecided if we will end up here or there but once she visits here...if she decides she would like to live here permanently, what are the requirements? What steps and forms must I do and must she do? In general how long would this process take and what is an estimated cost?

I may have many more questions. I will talk to her all about this on Skype and then she will let me know what else she needs to know. I appreciate any and all assistance.
