I will answer you question based on my recent experience:

You should go to SSA first to update your status. You need to bring your US passport with you. You can also bring your naturalization certificate but keep in mind that you have to wait at least 10 days after you become US citizen in order for SSA office to be able to verify your certificate. If you already have a US passport, you can go to SSA office immediately.

After you update your status with SSA office, wait at least 24 hours before you go to DMV. You can just bring your US passport with you to the DMV.

    Thank you. That helps!

I already have my US passport and also got my certificate back. I was told at the oath ceremony to wait 30 days to go to the SSA office so I decided to get my passport first. It will be 30 days this weekend so I am planning on going to the SSA office asap.

Ummm... I have only one day a week that I can go to the SSA or DMV. It's why I thought of going to the SSA office in the morning and then DMV later the same day. If I have to wait 24 hours after the SSA office then I will have to wait another week to go to the DMV. ??

  2. There is no update for biometrics. The next update after fingerprinting should be "in Line for Interview"

The CA offices are backlogged, I believe.

    Thank you for your answer!

So frustrated that my case is taking so long.

Last year I waited for my 10 years green card for 11.5 months.

When I filed my N-400 in Feb I looked at other people's timelines. It normally took 3-4 months.

A friend in Texas spent only 2.5 months from filing date to the oath ceremony. She filed it this Jan.

I was hoping it would be that quick too but now I'm so disappointed... :(:(

  3. Last comment I said I had been waiting for any updates for almost 2 months since my biometric appointment. And today it's been 62 days since my biometrics. So I just gave USCIS a call.

I told him my case status "HAS NEVER BEEN UPDATED" since they first got my application. It's been stuck at "Case was received.".

And he didn't give me any answers on why my case has never been updated. He kept saying it's because there was nothing to update!!!

I even explained the exact same thing happened to me last year when I filed my i-751, no updates at all since "Case was Received" and I called that time and the person who was helping me got me a tier 2 officer without me asking at all.

He still kept saying it's normal for me to not hear anything back and I should wait longer.

So after hearing that I knew he was not going to help me and I asked him for a tier 2 officer. He told me he couldn't and also told me to try and call back later.

    So frustrated right now.

I would like to ask you guys if your case has been updated online, after "Case was received" what the status should be next? Is there any update for your fingerprint appointment and after that?

Is it normal for the case status to be stuck at Case was received on the date they received my case for 3 months?

I filed my application on Feb 29 and my online status has been stuck at "Case was received" on Mar 4. I turned on email and sms notification but never got anything but they cashed my check out!

My field office is San Bernardino!

  4. We're in the same boat as you. Filed 2/12, bio was done on 3/7 and online still says, "Case was received..." We also have the San Bernardino field office, we called around 5/8 and just got the canned answer that the field office is working on the 5 months status so we would have to wait until 7/12 to call back in and escalate. I find that ridiculous, I also asked why the status was not updated and I didn't really get an answer to that. Plus I keep checking the status on processing times for the San Bernardino office and I swear every other week the status goes from 5 months to a date in 2015 last I saw was 11/12/2015, I just checked now and it says 5 months. So I don't have much faith in this office being well organized or it is probably super busy. At any rate we are also just waiting, hoping news comes soon. I would love for my wife to vote in this election.

P.S. Hang in there and don't loose patience.

Thank you very much for letting me know Im not in this weird situation alone right here. Last year it took me 11.5 months to get my 10 years green card with this field office and my case status was not updated one bit. I called that time too after months went by and my friend who also filed the I-751 at the same time as I did with the other field office already got her new 10 years green card. A few months after I called they sent me an interview letter that time. So I went to the interview for my remove condition case and I could see there were ton of people doing citizenship test that day at the San Bernardeno office!

I would like to call so bad right now with hope it will help me get my interview date sooner. But Im afraid what I will hear would be I have to wait longer to call them back cause its been only 2 months after my biometric appointment!

Nail biting time now. Thinking to call after this weekend to ask!

  5. I have been waiting for the interview letter for almost 2 months already. No idea why it is taking so long for me.

I filed my documents on Feb 29, 2016 and my biometric appointment was on Mar 29.

Anyway my case status online has never been updated. It has been stuck at "Case was received". So I have no idea if my case has now been in line for interview or if my interview letter has been sent out and somehow I missed it or not.

Should I be worried and call USCIS office now? My field office is San Bernardeno.

This also happened to me last year when I did remove condition. My case was never updated until my green card was sent out.

  6. Hi,

I am wondering if there is anyone experiencing the same situation as me.

I filed my I-751 in November 2014. Less than a week I got a receipt and then one month later was my biometrics appointment.

So I went to the field office as said on the date given for the biometrics appointment. Got my fingerprint scanned and all that.

Then a few days later I went to the website to check my case status and it still said "Your case was received".

Months go by and I got RFE notice in April 2015, I went to check my case status online again and still said "Your case was received".

I submitted my RFE package in June cause I had to wait for my husband to get all the tax paper done.

The RFE package was delivered the next day and since then I have been checking my case status at USCIS website and it still says "My case was received"

which means it has never been updated at all after the first update they did when they first got my I-751 package. Is it normal??

I created an account and turned the notification on for both email and mobile phone but I have never received any updates at all.

It's been 2 weeks since I sent out the RFE package.

How long does it usually take to hear back after you send out the RFE package?

I am thinking to call them and ask about my case tomorrow but not sure it it's too soon.

    Thanks

  7. I have understood that CR-1 visa will be valid for 6 months but it will also be adjusted to match the expiry date of the medical result. Am I right?

I went to get medical examination on July 5th and my interview date was Aug 16th.

My visa was issued on Aug 17th and will expire on Feb 16th, 2013, which is 6 months from the date the visa was issued not the date I got my medical examination.

    From what I mentioned in the first line;

    - Why my CR-1 expiry date is not 6 months from the date I got my medical examination?

    - Before when do I really need to arrive in the US?

By the way, I am planning to arrive in the US around Dec 10th. I will be fine, right?

    Thanks
