Why did you show her his greencard? Maybe this is what confused her. I understand that this is a requirement, but just go by the list item by item and present it when asked for it.
I would go back there again (or another post office) and apply. In the meantime, ask to speak to a supervisor if she's rude.
As i read on the instruction one of requirment is The child's foreign passport showing the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS) I-551 stamp in the passport, or the child's permanent resident card (green card)

I got a U.S. citizen by naturalization on March 15 (I married to my us citizen husband) and i also have a 5 years old son with me that i brought him from my country he got a greencard, He also become a us citizen based on Citizenship act of 2000. today we went to the local post office for apply U.S passport, and for me everything is done but for my son the woman there said 'no way' he's not a u.s citizen! she said he wasnt born here he doesnt have u.s. birth certificate or she will accept it if he has a certificate N600 and she asked me when i got naturalized why didnt my son get one too if i'm saying he's a u.s citizen. Oh my god this made me real real mad i also printed out this information on the website http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1312.html#

"Must the Child Get a Certificate of Citizenship?
You do not have to apply for a certificate of citizenship for your child. If you want to apply for a certificate, please go to How to Get a Certificate of Citizenship for your Child for instructions"
and the subject about getting passport
How Does the Child Get a Passport Under the Child Citizenship Act?
You will need the following when the child applies for a passport:
Proof of the child's relationship to the American citizen parent. For the biological child of the American citizen this will be a certified copy of the foreign birth certificate (and translation if not in English). For an adopted child, it is a certified copy of the final adoption decree (and translation if not in English);
The child's foreign passport showing the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS) I-551 stamp in the passport, or the child's permanent resident card (green card);
Proof of identity of the American citizen parent(s)
Passport application, passport photographs and fees. Go to Passport Services for forms and full instructions.
I got everything they needed my son original birth certificate plus translate one and also his greencard and this woman refused to read the paper that i printed out from state.travel.gov website. I asked her if she could call and ask and she's not gonna call. and handed all my documents back, talking bad, not polite and so so rude....
What should i do??? I need help!!! I'm worried if i go to different post officer it's gonna be the same. I think getting his N600 is too much expensive for me. the passport it's cheaper. Or is there anyway i can report this to us department ?

ditto, your brother is not a derivative on your mom's petition, you have to file a i130 separatly. he cannot come o your mother's petition.
you don't need the affidavit of support for your brother yet, depending on what country he is from, the wait is 12 or more years.
how old is your brother?
My brother is 31 years old. And Thailand is my country. So that mean i can apply for brother and no need to affidavit of support until his case approve which it's next 10 or 12 years ?
Thank you

I will apply N-400 in this November and after i become a us citizen. I plan apply greencard for my mom (who lives in Southeast Asia) to live here in USA.
What are all the form do i need? And what are the evidence of relationship? I know that i need form I-130 and what else do i need? Do i need form I485? My husband will become join sponsor since i am a stay at home mom so we need I865 and I865A too?. Do i have to summit my mother's birth certificate too? My mom said it has been lost for a long time and not sure if she could try to get a copied of it.
i am thinking about apply greencard for my brother as the same time too. Can i send the form same time in the same package with my mom? I know it takes at least 10 years for him to come here but that's okay.
Thank you so much

Thank you for the answer.
I think i just have to change my oldest son's name with court.
Gegal, I wanted to update MY NEW NAME on my youngest son's u.s. birth certificate. Not my son's name. update just mother's name. Sorry about my english if it's confused you.
BethandBilly, This is not fraud marriage. Ive been with my husband for 4 years have a child together, but we've just been fighting all the times, it's just bad for my healthy and the kids. So I just want to wait to become a us citizen then divorce just want to have the right to stay here.

I am removing 2 years condition and waiting for 10 years green card and i will have a chance to apply us citizen, my earliest to apply is this November 2012.
I have question about changing my name and last name on N-400.
1. I am still married but can i just use new last name that i pick? not husband's last name. (becuz i plan to divorce in the future)
or i might use his last name?
2. I have 5 years old son that i bring from my country (he's already got 10 years green card) in the form N-600 that i have to apply for him.
I'd would like him to have the new same last name as me.
how can i change it? Can i just put the new last name for him on form N-600??
3. I also have another son with this marriage he's 2 years old. and was born here in US and on his us birth certificate it showed my old name and
last name. After I become a us citizen. Can i update new name on my son's birth certificate? I'm worried that in the future if we need to do
passport for him or when he needs to attend to school there will be confusion about mother's name on naturalization form doesnt match with
his birth certificate. or even go travel outside us with him and they will think i will kidnap child becuz mother's name on his
birth certificate is not the same name on my passport. What can i do?
4. How about marriage certificate??? Do i have to change my new name on my marriage certificate too????
Thank you

My son got refused for applying U.S. Passport from USPS. HELP!

you're lucky! at least you could tell her to send it out. Me and my husband tried to tell her that too but she denied. And she kept saying "your child not a u.s citizen" in front of my poor child. that's just so sad.
I remember that the oath ceremony day i was so happy and telling my son "you're a citizen too!" he got big smile and we are so pround of eachother.
this woman at the post office so so mean!!
