  1. Boo! Starting from Apr 1, the price for the medical goes up to almost double.

Used to be $125 ($110 for kids), now it's $215 (for everyone).

In the instructions there's also now a pretty detailed explanation of what tests are done, how long it takes to get results, etc.

Yep, I noticed that in the instructions that were sent to my fiance. Fortunately we have her appointment scheduled for tomorrow.

    From the document:

Effective April 1, 2013 the medical examination fee will be $215 USD for all applicants regardless of age, excluding vaccination fees. The medical examination fee prior to April 1, 2013 is not more than $125 USD per person, excluding the vaccination fee for adults and children. The fees for medical examination and vaccinations are paid in Ukrainian Hryvnya only. The fees can be paid at the following address: 8 Mykhaylivska street.

  2. I'm not so sure about that. In my experience, Ukraine has all the alcohol you would find in the US.

I bought Captain Morgan's and Corona there...

Yes, Corona. With a cyrillic label.

She may only be looking at small "Magazine" stores. Large grocery chains like "Metro" (Ukrainian Costco) seem to carry EVERYTHING.

  3. This topic has brought up a question of my own.

When I bring my fiance to the United States from Ukraine, she will most definitely have to switch planes at least once or twice. In my experiences flying to and from Ukraine I usually have to transfer in Canada, Netherlands, England, or Germany. As a US citizen, I have never required anything other than my passport. Is it likely she will require transit visas for any of these countries?
