  1. Hi everybody, just an update! It finally happened for me this morning. I just received an email update from uscis that my card production has been ordered. Case stays has also been updated online. It is exactly 8months waiting time for me.

I'm really really grateful to God and all of you in this forum.

I put in a service update request last Wednesday or Thursday with a tier 1 agent and requested her to put me through to a tier 2. I spoke to a tier 2 agent who also sent in an inquiry on my case. He said if I didn't hear from uscis in 2 weeks, that I should immediately call back. This was my last action. I made sure to tell the tier 2 that their website specifically stated that they were done with September filers which he cross checked and confirmed.

Those of you who have not received any response, hang in there and keep calling. It really depends on who you were able to speak to. Goodluck to you all.

  2. Hi waiting for aos, I've also been waiting since September 19th. I have neither received an approval, rfe or interview. I put in a revive request at the end of March and just last week when I was able to get to a tier two officer, she said they'll reply my service request and two days ago, I received a letter saying that my case is still pending consideration and that they cannot give me a timeframe for when they'll complete the review.

So you see you're not alone. Let's be hopeful. For me I believe God has a purpose for occurrences in our lives.

  3. Hithereexpats, I just called and the customer service agent that attended to me offered to put in a service update request for me since I was already beyond the 6 months processing time that VSC quoted. I called at 6.5 months and still waiting.

However, the tier 2 agent that attended to my call this week told me that technically I'm still within the processing time and this is at almost 7 months. I guess it depends on who attends to you. Keep trying but make sure your at least beyond the six months period.

  4. Hey!! Thanks Hypnos and Floxy for the well wishes!!

You are looking at a US Resident!! Everything went great. We arrived at the Orlando field office at 8:05am. Security went smoothly. A couple of the guards were even jovial old men, and we all had a good laugh together (one of them was a grumpy old man, and he yelled at me for asking if I needed to take off my shoes... as the guy in front of me had to... but the other guards made up for that by being nice).

Our appointment was for 8:15am. At 8:10am, my name was called! YAY! Then we went back to the adjudications officers room. She was very efficient and professional. She swore us in, asked for ID, then asked DH a bunch of questions pertaining to the I-130, then asked me a couple of questions. Ironically, DH did most of the talking as most of her questions were directed at him. She did not ask for originals or to see photos (I had included a couple in the file, which she studied, but didn't ask questions). She had a good chuckle at DH trying to remember our wedding date... and the look of shock on my face that he'd forget it.

Then she typed a bunch of stuff into the computer, and told us that I'd be getting my approval letter in a few weeks, followed by the LPR Card. I was disappointed that I didn't get an I551 stamp in my passport - I really wanted to be able to get a few things done this week, but I guess I'll just have to wait for that 'Hallowed Approval Letter' to arrive in the mail.

Oh, and because we've been married for more than 2 years, don't have to apply for conditions to be removed in 2 years. In 3 years, I can apply for citizenship. We're very happy to hear that.

I don't know what time we left the office, but we were sitting at Denny's for breakfast by 8:49am.

That's awesome! I am happy for you. My interview followed pretty much the same pattern. I signed in by 9.25am for my interview at 9.30am. I was called in @ 10.15am and basically the officer just went through the papaers we had earlier filed and just asked qustions to confirm how and when we met and joked that my husband was "rocking the cradle" since I"ve known him since I was about 8 yrs old. She didnt ask for additional photos or anything else and approved us on the spot. Stamped my passsport with I551 stamp and collected my EAD/AP card. On the whole, we spent the time chatting about other experiences. We were out in about 25 mins.

  5. I am just wondering if you received the EAD/AP card where it stated on the bottom "NOT VALID TO REENTRY TO US". This could be the reason for denial to boarding or why the Embassy insisted not a valid travel document.

or the one with "SERVES AS I-512 ADVANCE PAROLE" ?

Of course it is the one that states "serves as I-512 Advance Parole" The people were plain ignorant and did not want to do anything about their ignorance. I am back now with the same card but hard to travel to Europe first and returned to the US from there They Europeans were more knowlegdable about the card and i had no problem whatsoever from then on.

  6. I'm personally saddened by this, I know the feeling of getting to the airport, in my case it was Murtala, and denied boarding.

I've started a topic on a Nigerian forum to see what the folks on the ground says.

If i were in your shoes. I would go back to the embassy, always act professional and courteous, do your darnest to get to a person of authority and throw yourself at their mercy. If this card won;t work to get out ask him/her what will? When you get back stateside you can then start the good fight to see why they'll give you a basically worthless travel document.

Sorry that this is happening to you.

Thanks Gowon. Yesterday at the abuja embassy, i actually asked the lady the question about what will work, she insists that I have to go through the process of trying to get a visa! I have shown her a number of documentation on the card and what it does including the accompanying notice from USCIS but she insists that EAD/AP is just for employment not travel. I think there's a big disconnect between the USCIS and the Embassy on this card, which is quite ridiculous and embarassing.

  7. First I would try to contact someone in Lagos and see if they are of the same opinion if you don't get a positive answer from here. If that fails go back to the embassy and get travel papers like the ones you get when you lose your green card overseas. Those are known to be ok to travel with. If you have a spouse/parent stateside put them in charge of raising hell though your representives. You don't have an overstay or other negative do you ?

Tnx you all for your replies. No I don't have an overstay nor any negative that I'm aware of. I've only been in Nigeria for 3 weeks and never been in unlawful presence in the US either. The officer says that since I am not yet an LPR, that they can not issue me with a travel document from the embassy. If anyone has successfully used this card through Lagos pls post your experience here and help!!!

  8. Hi, has anyone travelled to and returned from Nigeria on the EAD/AP combo card? I am living thro a nightmare right now. I recently returned to Nigeria via Abuja three weeks ago to attend to family issues, using my EAD/AP card. At the Abuja airport on my return jorney, the contractors screening the tarvel documents refused to clear me to board my flight because they wouldnt accept the Combo card as travel document as well. To my amazement, they called an officer in the us embassy in abuja who actually corroborated their stand that the document does not permit me to travel to US without a valid visa. I visited the embassy in abuja the next day to speak with the officials and this officer in the embassy still maintained that it is not a travel document and that I cant go back without a visa. I am stuck here and I have a training to attend right now in the US and my AOS interview coming up in a few weeks.

Has anyone had a similar experience or any experience returning from Nigeria either thro Lagos or Abuja airport with the EAD/AP combo card. I need urgent help pls, regarding possible solutions.
