How long does it take to get the visa after the interview? We were told you could wait there in Rio and have it in hand within 2 to 3 days. Is this true? Also, can you fly out as soon as you have it in hand?

So the case number is here. Do I need to pay anything right now and get all documents to my fiance in Brazil? I just have no picture of how fast she'll get contacted for a biometrics and interview.

Has anyone been calling today or lately and getting the message that information on immigrant visas is not available and to call back at a later date? Any ideas on what to do now?

Congrats!!!
How did you get notification of your info to the NVC and get the appointment so quickly? did you call the NVC and pressure them at all?

The I-797 is the number of the official form used for notifications. In this process you will receive MANY I-797s for many reasons, receipts, notifications of biometrics, notifications of approvals, notifications for interviews. It is basically a blank piece of paper with a header and footer.
There is no such thing as "NOA 1" or "NOA 2" "NOA" means "notice of Action" and the numbers refer to the first or second. Typically if a petition is properly done the second notification will be the approval, so the NOA 2 is interchangeable with "approval" in VJ lingo. Except if you get an RFE then the RFE is the NOA 2.
USCIS will never ask you for an "NOA 1" or 2 or whatever. Keep all notifications in an rganized file as you will need them from time to time. Since my wife has become a citizen I destroyed ALL supporting documents and evidence but kept all notifications which more or less track her immigration process. It is a relatively small stack, so why not keep it?
That was VERY helpful. Thank you.
Since you were so helpful, can you tell me if I need a i_-864 or an I-134 to show support? We have received the NOA2 and have been approved. We aren't sure which form to fill out.
Also, do we wait for the NVC to contact us now for info on an appointment with the consulate in Brazil or do we need to do something?
Again, thanks for your help.

Do I need an I-864 or a I-134?
Also, how quickly does the IRS send transcripts out? It would be MUCH faster if I were to send copies of my refunds that I have here. Why would you do the transcripts versus the copied refund?

We have received the I 797. How is this different than a NOA 1 or 2? I'm very confused and have searched to learn the steps. At this point, are we waiting for the NVC to set up an appointment with the consulate in Brazil? Do we need to call them and get that set up? Or are we waiting for another form before anything else moves along? Thanks for any info.

You should review the packet 3 and 4 documents that the beneficiary received. These list what must be done prior to the interview.
The financial support thingy is a part of that.
Why do you have to have IRS transcripts? Can't you send copies of our tax refunds?

My fiance in Brazil needs to make her appointment with the consulate listed on our original form now, right? What do I need to do on this end to help her be ready? I think I need to get her a financial support document--an I 34...something or other right?

Deep breath! Okay. Thanks everyone.

When the estimated time for the California Service Center for the K1 process says "5 months", does that include appointment for the interview for my fiance in Brazil and the medical appointment as well? What does that time "5 months" mean?

What is the average wait for the issuance of visa at the Rio Embassy? We have heard that if you stay in the Rio area and pay an expedited fee with SEDEX, you can get in within two days.
